After the Vulture's sudden disappearance from Earth-1350, pandemonium unfurls in the city of Novum Eboracum as he returns unshackled and untamed. The Spider-Team embarks on a mission to restrain him for the second time, and in due course, encounters the prideful and Machiavellian-minded spider-heroine of the dimension. Since Miguel has bound himself to the duty of mentoring the newcomers of the Spider-Society, Aranea ends up becoming his protégé, much to both their displeasure. She condemns him for his ill-natured demeanor, and in turn he is piqued by her vanity and egotism - yet as they journey across cities and realities in search of a centuries-old contraption, they eventually discover solace in the sanctuary of each other's company.
