Chapter Text

It had been a hectic few weeks. With multiple assignments due, Wally had barely any time to breathe. It was a relief to have everything taken care of and a free Friday evening. It had been the same for his roommate, Dick. The two sat sprawled on their couch with cool drinks in their hands while a movie played in the background.

His gaze trained on Dick, Wally swirled the alcohol in his glass. Dick’s eyes crinkled as he tipped his head back, laughing. Lips curled in a smile, Wally presses the glass to his lips. The alcohol burned as it slid down his throat.

Dick nudges his toes on Wally’s thigh as a cheesy scene starts. Chugging down the rest of his drink, Wally grins. They erupted into a fit of laughter as the movie continued. As they calm down, Dick gives his attention back to the movie. Wally, on the other hand, can’t take his eyes off his best friend. The TV screen reflected his handsome face. Wally swept his gaze to Dick’s slightly parted lips. His stomach churned with a dangerous feeling, desire. Feeling Wally’s gaze on him, Dick tilts his head towards him. “You okay there Walls?”

Blame it on the buzzing alcohol in his head or adrenaline but Wally couldn’t resist leaning down and planting his lips against his friend's. Heat pooling in his stomach, Wally’s lips melded perfectly with Dicks.

Dread crept up on him as he realizes that Dick isn’t kissing back. With the heat of the moment gone, Wally pulls away, the reality of his actions catching up to him. Dick’s gaze flickers with unreadable emotions. Unable to feel the heat of his friend’s gaze, Wally averts his eyes. “I-” A blush creeps its way on his cheeks. “I’m sorr—”

His words are cut off when Dick grips the hem of his shirt and pulls him into a firm kiss. Surprise morphs into hesitance as Wally’s hands hover over Dick’s waist. Despite the touches and hidden gazes that could not be labeled platonic, Dick is still his friend. The hesitance vanishes as he feels a tongue slip in. Consequences be damned. Those will be future Wally’s problems.

Deepening the kiss, Wally tangles one of his fingers into Dick's silky ebony locks, while the other straddles his waist. Dicks fingers let go of his shirt and cup his cheek. Pulling the two of them even closer if it were possible. Dick parts his lips from Wally. They barely catch their breath before Wally captures his lips again, pushing him against the couch. Slowing down would mean thinking. And the only thought Wally wants to have is how soft Dick’s lips are.

It is tantalizing, to have Dick underneath him. Their limbs entangled with their lips flush against each other. The feelings Wally had pushed into the pits of his stomach burst through and swirl in his stomach. Every inch of his body burns. Even in this blissful moment, somewhere in the depths of his mind, he knows it won't last.

For now, Wally trails his lips from Dick's chin and down his neck and relishes in the fact that Dick shudders.

His head throbbing, Wally jolts awake in his bed. At first, he’s confused as to why his roommate is in his bed, in the middle of putting on a shirt. Then yesterday night floods in. His head aches from the alcohol still in his system. The reality of the situation dawns on him. Wally had let his heart take over. Revealed his feeling and risked their friendship. But Dick had kissed him back, right? Could he also… Wally’s heart thundered in his ears.

“Hey. You okay there Walls?” Dick asks while placing a hand on his forearm. Wally flinches at the sudden touch. He had been enwrapped in his own thoughts. Wally swept his gaze towards Dick. He’s fully dressed now, with the shirt pulled down.

“I…” His eyes flicker to Dick’s exposed neck. Where he had sweetly marked him as they had stumbled to their feet and clawed open the door of his bedroom when things had started to get heated. Wally felt Dick follow his own gaze. His cheeks turn red as he pulls away his hand from Wally, eyes diverting from his.

Oh no. He didn’t like it. Dread creeps up Wally’s spine. Panicking, He stutters out, “ Dick, about last night. I’m really sorry. I was drunk and I…”

“It’s okay” Dick cuts him off. “ You’re right. We were drunk and weren’t thinking straight. We just needed to unwind after the last few days. It’s fine.”

Dick’s eyes swarm with an emotion Wally can't exactly place. “So, we’re good?”

Dick nods. “Yeah, of course. You're my best friend. I trust you. Besides we all need to cool off from time to time” He shrugs one shoulder.

“Okay.” Wally feels himself deflate.

“I’m going to go make us some coffee. Why don’t you get dressed till then.” Dick informs him. Wally acknowledges him by nodding his head.

When the door shuts behind Dick, Wally collapses back onto his bed. He buries his face in the pillow Dick had just slept in. He’s relieved that he didn’t ruin anything. Yet, at the same time, he can’t help but feel defeated that Dick doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. His heart aches for him. A pit forms in his stomach.

Wally’s mind flashes back to last night. With Dick warm underneath him. His blue eyes glazed over as his fingers clutched onto Wally. He stops. Blinks away the memories. Last night didn’t mean anything. He should be happy that he hasn’t ruined his relationship with his best friend. Not be mopping that Dick doesn't have feelings for him. Dick is his best friend. Wally’s not going to be selfish and ruin anything. He has his answer now. Nothing’s changed. As long as he doesn’t let his feeling resurface again. Everything’s going to be fine.
