Minho had never been one to try new things. He was content with his routines and comforts, but seeing how much Seungmin loved coffee, he decided to give it a shot. Not because Seungmin pushed him or anything, but simply because he wanted to be a part of something that brought joy to his boyfriend.
First Attempt: Canned Latte
Seungmin walked through the door, groceries in hand, and a smile on his face as he spotted Minho lounging on the couch. “Hey, lazybones,” Seungmin teased, dropping the bags on the kitchen counter.
“Hey, you brought the groceries?” Minho sat up, rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish grin.
“Of course, I did. Now, guess what else I got?” Seungmin reached into one of the bags and pulled out a couple of canned lattes.
Minho’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wait, for real? You got all of those for yourself?”
Seungmin chuckled, “Nope, they’re for you, Mr. Never-Tried-Caffeine. I thought it’s time for you to join the coffee lovers’ club.”
Minho playfully rolled his eyes, “Coffee lovers’ club? Are we back in high school now, making clubs for everything?”
Seungmin smirked, “Oh, come on, don’t act like you didn’t have some silly clubs back then.”
Minho laughed, “Touché. But for real, are you sure you want me to try this? I mean, you know I hate bitter stuff.”
Seungmin shrugged, handing him the can. “Will you try it or not?”
Minho took the can and teasingly replied, “Just because you’re asking so nicely, love.”
Seungmin shot back in a mocking tone, “Oh, I didn’t expect you to actually want to try it. Crazy the things you’d do for me. Thanks, love.”
Minho feigned offense, “Yah now, don’t go getting all sentimental on me. I just want to know what the fuss is all about, that’s all.”
Seungmin grinned mischievously and handed Minho the can. “Well, here’s your chance to find out.”
Minho took a sip, and his face immediately scrunched up at the bitterness. “Ugh, this is nasty!”
Seungmin laughed at the sight, “Told ya it’s an acquired taste. But hey, at least you tried!”
Minho put on a brave face, “Yeah, yeah, don’t rub it in.”
Seungmin patted his head playfully, “Don’t worry, maybe coffee is just not your thing.”
Minho smirked, “Or maybe I need a better teacher to show me the coffee ropes.”
Seungmin raised an eyebrow, “Oh, really now? Are you saying I haven’t been a good enough guide on your coffee journey?”
Minho chuckled, “Oh, no, you’ve been an excellent guide. I’m just saying, maybe I need a little more convincing.”
Seungmin grinned, “Challenge accepted. We’ll keep trying until we find one you like.”
Over the next few weeks, every time they had free time together, Seungmin would suggest trying a new caffeinated beverage, and Minho, being the determined guy he was, couldn’t resist giving it a shot. Each attempt resulted in comical reactions, from shudders and cringes to outright gagging.
Second Attempt: Hazelnut Latte
As they sat at a cozy corner table in the café, Seungmin passed the hazelnut latte to Minho, a playful glint in his eyes. “Here you go, babe. Give this one a try.”
Minho took a cautious sip, only to be met with a grimace. “Ugh, that’s even worse!” he exclaimed, reaching for a glass of water to wash away the unpleasant taste.
Seungmin’s laughter echoed through the café, drawing a few curious glances from nearby patrons. He couldn’t help but find Minho’s reaction utterly adorable, even if it meant the hazelnut latte wasn’t a hit with his boyfriend.
Minho playfully scowled at Seungmin, his cheeks slightly flushed. “You could have warned me that it was going to be so bitter!”
“I wanted to see your genuine reaction,” Seungmin teased, poking Minho’s cheek playfully. “Besides, how else am I going to have fun during our coffee adventures?”
“Well, it’s not like I’m doing this for my own enjoyment,” Minho retorted, crossing his arms mockingly. “I’m doing it for you, you coffee maniac.”
Seungmin grinned, taking another sip of his own coffee. “And I appreciate it, hyung. You’re the best boyfriend ever, even if you can’t handle a simple cup of coffee.”
Minho rolled his eyes, trying to hide the small smile tugging at his lips. “Oh, please. You’re just saying that because I’m willing to suffer through your caffeinated shenanigans.”
Seungmin leaned in closer, his playful expression turning into a soft one. “I’m saying it because it’s true. You’re always willing to try new things with me, and I love you for that.”
Minho’s heart fluttered at Seungmin’s words, and he felt a warmth spread through his chest. He leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Seungmin’s cheek. “I love you too, Seungmin-yah, even if you’re a coffee addict.”
Seungmin chuckled, his cheeks tinged with a light blush. “I prefer the term ‘coffee enthusiast,’ thank you very much.”
Third Attempt: Mocha Frappe
The café was buzzing with activity as Minho and Seungmin settled into their usual spot by the window. Seungmin had a mischievous glint in his eyes as he glanced over the menu, already planning the next coffee for Minho.
“So, what’s it going to be this time, Seungminnie?” Minho asked, a smirk on his lips. “Another bitter disappointment?”
Seungmin feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. “Bitter disappointment? Ouch, that hurts, hyung. I’ll have you know that coffee is an art form, and each blend offers a unique experience.”
“Alright, alright, I get it,” Minho chuckled. “Enough with the coffee propaganda. Just surprise me.”
Seungmin grinned, leaning back in his chair. “Impatient much, huh? Well, I’ve got the perfect drink in mind for you this time.”
Before Minho could ask any further, the barista arrived at their table with their orders. Seungmin’s usual black coffee and Minho’s mocha frappe, complete with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. As Minho took a cautious sip, Seungmin watched him intently, waiting for his reaction.
“It’s not bad,” Minho admitted after a moment, smacking his lips thoughtfully. “The sweetness helps, but I still think it’s a bit too much for me. Hot chocolate is still my true love.”
Seungmin chuckled, reaching across the table to steal a taste of Minho’s mocha frappe. “You’ve got to admit, though, the chocolatey goodness is tempting.”
Minho mock-glared at Seungmin. “Hands off my frappe! Get your own if you want to taste it so bad.”
Seungmin laughed playfully, feigning a hurt expression. “Oh, so you don’t want to share? Fine, be that way.”
Minho couldn’t resist the opportunity to tease Seungmin a little more. “Well, since you want a taste so badly, here.” He held the straw of his mocha frappe to Seungmin’s lips, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Seungmin’s eyes widened in surprise, but he leaned forward to take a sip. However, as he tried to reach the straw, he ended up pressing his lips against Minho’s instead.
Their lips lingered against each other’s. Their tongues brushed gently, and the taste of chocolate mixed with the warmth of the kiss sent shivers down their spines.
After a few lingering seconds, they pulled away, Seungmin’s face flushed with surprise. He quickly shoved Minho, trying to act mad. “Yah! That wasn’t fair!”
Minho burst into laughter, his eyes twinkling mischievously. “Oh, come on, Seungminnie. You can’t deny that was a pretty sweet way to taste my frappe.”
Seungmin huffed, trying to hide his embarrassment, but his red cheeks gave away his true feelings. “N-No it wasn’t!”
“Sure, sure,” Minho teased, nudging Seungmin’s shoulder playfully. “I believe you.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes, but a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Shut up, Minho-hyung.”
“Oops, my bad,” Minho pretended to apologize, trying to suppress his laughter.
Seungmin shook his head, unable to hide the smile on his face any longer. “You’re impossible.”
“But you love me,” Minho said, grinning widely.
Seungmin sighed dramatically, but the affection in his eyes was undeniable. “Yeah, I do. Even if you’re always getting on my nerves.”
“I can’t help it,” Minho said with a wink. “You’re too cute when you get all riled up.”
Seungmin’s cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and he tried to hide his face behind his hands. “Stop it, you’re embarrassing me!”
Fourth Attempt: Caramel Macchiato
The café they were in had a cozy, rustic ambiance, with the smell of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Seungmin’s eyes sparkled with excitement as he waited for Minho’s reaction to the caramel macchiato.
Minho took a few cautious sips, his expression pensive as he tried to find the right words to describe the taste. “It’s... intense,” he finally said, putting the cup down with a sigh. “Definitely not my cup of tea—I mean, coffee.”
Seungmin laughed heartily, raising an amused eyebrow. “You mean not your cup of coffee?”
Minho grinned playfully. “Exactly. I’ll just stick to my hot chocolate. It’s a much safer territory.”
Seungmin leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms dramatically. “You’re missing out, hyung. Caramel macchiatos are like a perfect dance of flavors, a symphony for your taste buds.”
Minho chuckled, shaking his head at Seungmin’s over-the-top description. “You should be a coffee ambassador or something. But oh well, more caramel macchiatos for you, right?”
Seungmin’s eyes softened as he gazed at Minho. “As much as I love coffee, I love you even more. So, I’ll take you and your hot chocolate any day.”
Minho felt his heart warm at Seungmin’s words, and he reached across the table to hold Seungmin’s hand. “You’re really cheesy, you know that?”
Seungmin grinned, intertwining their fingers. “Guilty as charged. But you secretly love it.”
“Maybe a little,” Minho admitted with a playful wink. “But don’t get too confident. You’ve got to work harder to convert me to the coffee side.”
Seungmin mock-scowled, poking Minho’s cheek. “I already told you. I won’t rest until I find the perfect coffee drink for you.”
“You’re relentless,” Minho teased, but there was a fondness in his gaze as he looked at Seungmin. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Fifth Attempt: Vanilla Latte
Minho chuckled, swatting away Seungmin’s poking finger playfully. “You’re enjoying this way too much, Seungminnie. Are you secretly getting a kick out of torturing me with all these coffee experiments?”
Seungmin flashed a mischievous grin, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “Maybe just a little. But I promise, it’s all out of love.”
Minho eyed the vanilla frappe warily as Seungmin passed it over. “Here you go,” Seungmin said with a playful smile. “I have a feeling this might be the one that changes your mind.”
Minho took a deep breath and decided to give it a fair shot. He took a hesitant sip, and to his surprise, his reaction was slightly different this time. “Hmm, it’s not bad at all,” Minho admitted, his eyebrows raised in surprise. “I can taste the sweetness of the vanilla, and it’s not as overwhelming as the others.”
Seungmin’s eyes lit up with excitement. “See? Progress! You’re getting there, hyung. Soon enough, you’ll be sipping lattes with the best of us.”
Minho chuckled, feeling a sense of pride in his small victory. “Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’m not ready to declare my love for coffee just yet.”
Seungmin pretended to look hurt, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. “Oh, the pain of rejection! But don’t worry, I won’t give up on you. We’ll keep trying until we find the one.”
Minho grinned, unable to resist the playful banter. “Are you like a coffee matchmaker or something?”
Seungmin leaned in with a playful glint in his eyes. “Yep, that’s right. I’m determined to find your coffee soulmate.”
Last Attempt: Iced Americano
One afternoon, Seungmin proposed one last coffee stop. “Come on, Minho-hyung, just one more try. I have a feeling about this one.”
Minho hesitated, recalling his previous attempts at embracing coffee. “Seungmin-yah, I’ve already tried like five different types, and none of them were really for me. I doubt coffee will ever be my thing.”
Seungmin’s eyes sparkled with determination. “I know, I know, but just trust me on this one. I actually have a feeling it’s going to be different.”
Minho chuckled at Seungmin’s persistence. “Alright, alright, I’ll give it a shot, but don’t blame me if it’s another disappointment.”
Seungmin’s smile grew wider, and he ordered the coffee for Minho. When the drink arrived, Minho took a cautious sip, and to his surprise, his eyes lit up with delight. This was the best coffee he had tried so far, and it felt perfect on his tongue.
“Wow, this is actually really good,” Minho said, trying to hide his excitement from Seungmin.
Seungmin raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? So you actually like it?”
Minho shrugged nonchalantly, trying to keep up the act. “I mean, it’s still not as good as my hot chocolate, but it’s not bad.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes in mock exasperation. “Oh, please. You’re practically gushing over it. Just admit it, hyung. You’re enjoying this coffee!”
Minho couldn’t keep up the pretense any longer, and he burst into laughter. “Alright, alright, you caught me. This coffee is quite impressive. It might be the one that converts me.”
Seungmin’s face lit up with triumph. “I knew it! I knew I could convert you to the coffee lovers club!”
Minho chuckled, taking another sip from his coffee. “Well, don’t get too excited. I still only like one type of coffee, and that’s it.”
Seungmin playfully shrugged. “Yah, as the club’s leader, I say it’s more than enough for you to become a member.”
Minho laughed, thoroughly enjoying their banter. “Alright, alright, I’ll take it. So, who else is in this coffee lovers club?”
Seungmin blushed slightly, trying to act casual. “Oh, you know, millions of other people.”
Minho raised an eyebrow teasingly and knowingly. “Millions, huh? Impressive.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes, trying to hide his embarrassment. “Yeah, yeah, just keep drinking your coffee.”
Minho finished his drink, surprising even himself with how quickly he had enjoyed it.
Seungmin couldn’t help but comment, “Seems like you’re going to become a coffee addict now.”
Minho chuckled and shook his head. “Not happening. Otherwise I won’t be able to tease you about your coffee addiction anymore.”
Seungmin huffed, trying to defend himself. “It’s not an addiction! It’s simply a loving relationship with coffee!”
Minho laughed, “Keep telling yourself that, coffee addict.”
Seungmin shot back, “Hyung! Again, I prefer ‘coffee enthusiast’, thank you very much!”
“Alright, alright, I’ll give you that.”
Seungmin then asked, “So, do you want another iced Americano?”
Minho’s eyes lit up mischievously, and he nodded with a wide grin on his face. “Yes, please. I think I might need a refill on my ‘coffee enthusiasm’.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes, but his heart swelled with love for the boy who was willing to try new things just to be closer to him.
One week later, Minho came back from the stores with groceries as usual, but there was something different about the other bag he was carrying. As he entered the apartment, Seungmin raised an eyebrow curiously.
“What’s in the bag?” Seungmin asked, gesturing towards it.
Minho grinned mischievously. “Take a look.” He opened the bag, revealing several iced Americano cups neatly lined up.
Seungmin’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are those... Iced Americanos?”
Minho chuckled, “Yep, ever since that day at the café, I can’t seem to get enough of them. Iced Americano, Iced Americano, Iced Americano—it’s my new favorite drink.”
Seungmin burst into laughter, realizing that he had successfully converted Minho into a coffee lover. “I guess I should hand over my leader spot in the coffee lovers club to you now.”
Minho smirked playfully. “Well, I don’t know about that, but I’m definitely giving you a run for your money.”
As the days went by, Minho’s love for iced Americanos only grew stronger. He even changed his wallpaper to a picture of himself with the refreshing coffee drink in his hand, and Seungmin couldn’t resist teasing him for it.
“Minho, are you going insane with all that Iced Americano?” Seungmin asked, pretending to be concerned.
Minho shrugged with a grin. “Hey, I can’t help it if it’s the best drink ever. Besides, it’s all thanks to you that I found my coffee match.”
“True,” Seungmin agreed, feigning modesty. “I do have a talent for finding the perfect coffee match for people.”
Minho rolled his eyes playfully. “Oh, please. You just got lucky this time.”
Seungmin raised an eyebrow, stepping closer to Minho. “Oh, really? You’re saying it was all just luck that I converted you into a coffee lover?”
Minho tried to maintain a serious expression, but a mischievous glint in his eyes gave him away. “Well, I wouldn’t go as far as calling myself a coffee lover.”
Seungmin burst into laughter at Minho’s response. “You’re too much, Minho-hyung. You’re totally a loverboy now.”
Minho scoffed, crossing his arms playfully. “I’m not a coffee lover, and I’m definitely not a loverboy. I’m just me.”
Seungmin walked up even closer to Minho, their faces inches apart. “Not a loverboy, huh?” he said softly, almost teasingly.
Minho’s heart skipped a beat at the proximity, but he maintained his playful façade. “Nope, not at all.”
Seungmin leaned in, their noses brushing against each other. “I see that a bit differently,” he said with a sly smile.
Minho couldn’t help but feel his resolve waver under Seungmin’s intense gaze. “What do you mean?” he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Seungmin leaned in even closer, his lips almost touching Minho’s. “I think you’re a loverboy, and a damn good one at that,” he whispered.
Minho felt a blush creeping up his cheeks, but he tried to hide it with a playful retort. “Well, if you think so, then I guess I have no choice but to believe you.”
Seungmin’s eyes sparkled with amusement as he teased, “That’s the spirit, loverboy.”
Minho rolled his eyes with a smile, unable to resist Seungmin’s playful charm. “Alright, alright, enough teasing. Now, kiss me.”
Seungmin laughed but obliged, closing the distance between them and pressing his lips against Minho’s. Their tongues intertwined, and the taste of Seungmin’s bitter black coffee mixed with the flavor of Minho’s sweet Iced Americano. It was a perfect blend of their unique tastes, just like their love for each other.
After a while, they pulled away, their breaths slightly labored from the intensity of the kiss. Minho looked into Seungmin’s eyes and smiled affectionately. “Can I ask you something?”
Seungmin raised an eyebrow playfully. “Is it something dumb?”
Minho laughed and admitted, “Maybe.”
He then added, “I want to get an Iced Americano phone case, but I’m stuck between two options. Will you help me choose?” Minho gave his best pouty face, hoping to win Seungmin over.
Seungmin rolled his eyes with a chuckle. “You’re so weird, hyung.”
