She
She screams in silence
A sullen riot penetrating through her mind
"You can't do magic so I don't wanna be your friend. Now, go!"
Amity watched from her window as Willow ran away from Blight Manor, the hurtful words she'd said to her echoing in her head.
"I'm sorry...", she whispered, as her parents arrived with Boscha and Skara, her newly-assigned "friends".
Waiting for a sign to smash the silence with the brick of self-control
"Willow, you were never too weak to be my friend. I was too weak to be yours. I can't take back what I've done, but I can promise you this: I won't let Boscha and her gang pick on you ever again!"
Amity lied on her bed, thinking of the promise she made that day.
"No turning back now. From now on, I'm going to be better, no matter what Mother says."
Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you?
Are you feeling like a social tool without a use?
"You just destroyed your social life."
"Nah. I think I made it better."
Amity was now in a cast, but as far as she was concerned this was the greatest day in her life. Not only did she snub Boscha, but she helped her crush and Willow win a Grudgby match.
Scream at me until my ears bleed
I'm taking heed just for you
"You made me look like a fool in front of the Emperor's Coven. My future! You think it's so easy to be a witch. I have been working my whole life to get to the top!"
But did she even want to get to the top? Or was that just what her mother wanted? Was there even anything Amity had that she ever wanted for herself?
"Of course I do. I have the Good Witch Azura. Yeah, of course."
But beyond the Azura books, Amity knew there was nothing in her life that she actually wanted for herself.
She
She's figured out
All her doubts were someone else's point of view
"Stay away from my Luz!"
"Amity Blight, you are in so much troub—" Odalia was cut off as Amity shattered the telepathic communicator she'd used to keep her in line all these years.
Amity couldn't believe what she'd done. For the first time in her life, she'd stood up to her mother and done the right thing.
That night, she was better, no matter what Odalia wanted.
Waking up this time to smash the silence with the brick of self-control
Amity was angry, angrier than she'd ever been in her entire life.
Her mother knew what Belos was planning, but simply didn't care. Belos was going to kill every witch on the Boiling Isles, and Odalia was just going to let it happen. And for what? Money? Prestige? She has a coven sigil too, does she really think she won't die just because she shows loyalty to Belos? He doesn't care either way!
Amity had had enough of Odalia, and she never wanted to see that bitch ever again in her life.
"You! I am never speaking to you again."
And she meant it. After all this time, Odalia was dead to her, and would be dead anyway if the Day of Unity wasn't stopped. Finally, Amity was free from the chains of that heinous woman.
Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you?
Are you feeling like a social tool without a use?
"Since I failed my last mission, I thought, "Hey, a chance to make up for it!" But I can't go back empty-handed! Not again. Long story short, this is my grave. Want me to make you one too?"
In a way, Hunter was like a male version of her, Amity realized. He'd been taught his whole life that he had to be useful to higher authorities to have any worth, and that failure was essentially a fate worse than death, just like Amity had been taught by her mother. Perhaps he did have a point when he said they had a lot in common. After all, she was just lucky she'd met Luz, otherwise she'd be just like him. Perhaps she could help him out, just as her girlfriend had helped her out.
"You know, you were right. We do have a lot in common. I grew up thinking everything was an opportunity to justify existing, but there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless. You just have to let yourself meet them."
Scream at me until my ears bleed
I'm taking heed just for you
"Luz, did you... lie to me earlier?"
"I didn't wanna worry you."
"Well, I am worried! You've been acting weird all day and now I'm in trouble! What is going on with you?"
Amity didn't want this. She wanted to be a trustworthy girlfriend for Luz, and it hurt her that Luz couldn't trust her with her troubles. And now that her dad was here, all she wanted was to get away from it all. She grabbed an invisibility glyph from Luz's pocket and disappeared.
She ran to the tree she'd created with Luz during Grom. They weren't dating yet at the time, but it was special to her all the same. She sat there and cleared her mind, where her past self would simply lash out at everyone of a lower social class than her family.
"Can I, uh, sit here?"
Amity nodded, hoping Luz would finally open up.
