Chapter Text
Prologue: FOREVER & ALWAYS
“Klaus!”
Camille screams out his name as she walks into the compound. Her body filled with heat and the pain dizzying her. She knew what she signed up for when she became entangled with the Mikaelson, specifically the notorious hybrid, but a part of her thought she’d have more time. Not only more time with her friends but more time with Klaus.
“What is it?” Klaus whooshed in front of her. Worry coated in his voice.
“Something happened and you’re going to be angry.” She started, Camille knew Klaus and even amidst all the pain she’s feeling she didn’t want him to be reckless and do something he’d regret. His family needs him. “But Lucien wants you to be angry, he’s trying to lure you into a trap.” She warns him and she needs him to listen to her.
“What did he do?” Klaus takes steps closer to Camille.
She hesitates, “promise me you won’t fly off the handle and do something crazy.” She hopes he sees the desperation in her eyes.
“Promise me.” She insists.
Klaus lowers his gaze and takes her hand in his. His face twists as he catches the bite Lucien made.
“Before you lose it…” she notices his gaze is still on the bite, “Klaus, look at me.” She softly takes hold of his face and turns it her way.
“I love you.” A breath passes, Camille wished and wished that she could have told him at her own pace at a better timing but she didn’t have time anymore and she wanted him to know that she loves him and that she cares about him, “and I won’t let you get yourself killed.”
“Come here.” The moment those words leave his mouth Camille's body sags against Klaus’, a place where she could seek comfort. While Klaus tends to be the one that seeks comfort in her, there are times when she needs comfort from him and this is one of those moments but this time she isn’t afraid to show it.
“I just needed you to know.” Her voice breathless as the bite is spreading through her body. “I can tell you I love you tomorrow,” Klaus puts her in a bridal position, “you’re not dying today.” He'll make sure that he keeps that promise.
As he softly puts Camille on his bed he’s already conjuring ways to kill Lucien for good but first thing first he needs to make sure Camille survives. He needs her and because she got entangled with him she’s now dying so the only thing he could possibly do is to make sure that it doesn’t happen but the biggest reason is because he loves her.
This won’t be the end of them he won’t allow it.
Klaus notices that Camille is dozing off, he takes a last glimpse of her before he grabs his phone to call Freya. The more it rings the more anxious he gets.
“Klaus—,” he doesn’t let her finish, “I need you at the compound right now.”
“Can it wait? I’m finally having some fun.” Freya complains, “it can’t wait! It has to do with Camille.” When he mentions her name Freya gets an inkling that it might be serious.
“I’ll be there soon.”
Klaus anxiously paced around waiting for Freya to come. He hates what he’s feeling right now, the feeling that he’s useless and that there’s nothing he can do. He goes back to his room and Camille is still sleeping but he knows that she’s not dead. He bites his wrist and opens Camille’s mouth.
Admits that she keeps sleeping but the bite only seemed to worsen after his blood. The anger that surges inside him makes him leave the room. He goes to the closest room and starts throwing stuff. Lucien should be counting his days the moment he made the decision to bite Camille.
He drops to the floor as he grips his strands. He was glad that Hope wasn’t here to hear all this noise.
The moment he hears Freya’s footsteps he goes to her. He explains the situation, Freya furrows her brows. “I’d need time for that.”
“There’s no time.” While Klaus tries to hide his desperation Freya still picks it up. SHe knows how much her brother cares about Camille. “I’ll do whatever I can.”
“Thank you.” Klaus whoosh past her as he goes back to his room.
Freya immediately start to look through her spell book, some of the ingredients she’d need wasn’t here. She called Hayley so that she could pick up the stuff she needed.
Hayley was able to come quick which led Freya to be able to assemble everything that she needed. She didn’t know if it’d work but she needed to try everything so she could the save the woman her brother loves, the woman that had become part of her family.
Klaus and Freya talked as Hayley knelt in front of Camille, “are you all right?”
“Yeah.” She breathed out, “considering.”
Their conversation stopped as Klaus walked over to them, “hold still.” She did as told. “This is going to burn.” He warned her before he put the herb on the bite. Camille winced at the burn even if he had warned her it didn’t prepare her for the pain she’d feel but she’d be strong.
“What’s that?” She asks.
“It’s a healing salve.” Freya answers, “Motherwort.” Freya started to explain more, “well it will ease the pain, dull the symptoms, but it won’t stop the infection.”
“So I’m screwed.” Camille uttered, she wanted to have hope but the situation seems bleak. “We’re going to do everything we can, Cami.” Hayley comforts. Their friendship had just started to grow and Hayley would like to have Cami’s presence at the compound if she would deal with the Mikaelson she would like Cami’s comforting presence to be there.
“To that end.” Elijah walks in with Vincent in tow, “a little assistance.”
Vincent apologised to her but there was no need for that she knew what could happen if she kept staying around the Mikaelsons but she cared about them so she couldn’t stay away.
Klaus didn’t share the same sentiment, “you should be. This is your fault.” Klaus takes steps closer to him, “it was you who turned Lucien into a beast.” Elijah stopped him before Klaus could do something that could hurt Camille.
Klaus spoke out his theory that maybe Luciens blood could cure the bite since his blood could cure his bite, “his blood is all over my apartment.” Camille said. Vincent took it as a sign to head over there. They need to check everything out, everything that could cure Camille. All of them needed her in their life.
Hayley voiced out that they could maybe use Hopes blood if Lucien’s blood didn’t work. Hayley made the decision to head out to Mary to pick up Hope.
Everyone was working to save Camille. She was important to Klaus and the family.
As the members of the family all worked on helping to find a cure. Klaus stayed by her side even if he felt useless, he was always at the front of any battle but this time he had to settle being at the back but he knew that this is what Camille needed and if the worst came to happen he wanted to spend all the time they have left with her.
As Camille kept saying her will for all those she cared about Klaus kept getting angry, he didn’t understand why she had accepted death so easily when she has so much to live for.
“Enough! This is-is pointless.” He won’t listen to her any longer, he couldn’t accept that she’d die. His family is working on finding a cure so he’ll put all of his faith on that. “We’re going to find a way to fix it.” He promises again and he wants her to put her faith in him even if she herself doesn’t believe she’ll have a tomorrow.
As Vincent comes into the compound with Marcel in tow. All of them hope that Lucien’s blood is the cure to the bite. They don’t have enough time to find an actual cure if this doesn’t work and they’re not ready to bare the wrath Klaus will bring if Camille doesn’t make it.
As she drank the blood they’d have to wait to see if it’d make her better. Klaus brought Camille back to his room so that she could lay down. He grabbed her hand in his as he took her into another word. A world where none of this was happening, a world where the two of them could be, a word where he could do all the things he wants to do with Camille.
Both of them wished that everything that happened here could happen in the real world. That the both of them could just have quick moments together where there are no enemies looming over them.
And Klaus would do everything to make sure that it could happen. That they’d do all of this in the real world when she got better.
Freya looked at their figures and she frowned, she should have been looked better. She immediately went down where Vincent and Marcel were.
“She’s getting worse.” She announced to them. None of them wanted to accept what could possible happen.
“Okay, then we, uh, we got to try something else!” Vincent couldn’t keep still. While time was going by quick they couldn’t just give up now.
“Marcel? The strix?” At this point Vincent would be willing to do anything. Marcel looked at him, “you mean to tell me they can’t help with this?”
“The strix don’t have a solution for something that’s never existed before.” It was true there had never been something like Lucien before and they’d need time to know how to deal with him but time was not their friend.
“It may be that there is no cure.” Freya let the words hang in the air. “Well I’m not giving up.” Vincent said.
“Neither am I, but…” Freya didn’t know what to do now all of them hoped that the blood would work it was what gave them hope but it didn’t work.
“Okay, um…blood magic’s not working.” Vincent started, “so what else is there?” Anything will do.
“How about a magical miracle baby?” Hayley asked as she walked in with Elijah by her side. They all glanced at each other. They need everything that they can.
Klaus and Camille were still in the other world trying to enjoy the time they have left together. One has already accepted their fate but the other still has faith because without faith he wouldn’t know what to do. What he’d become.
Even in the other world Camille still tried to make him see that his family loved him because she might not be here anymore to let him know that.
Freya used her niece’s blood to see if it can cure the bite, Elijah watched over her and he begged whatever God that would listen to make sure Camille pulled through this.
A couple of minutes went by and it seemed as if nothing had changed. As they started to head out to let the other know Elijah stopped dead in his tracks.
“Do you hear that?” Even as he asked he knew Freya wouldn’t be able to hear whatever it is that he was hearing. Freya turned around and while Camille was still in a bad state she was already looking better.
“I think our niece’s blood is working.” But Elijah didn’t pay her any mind, “brother.” Finally Klaus opened his eyes.
“Listen.” Klaus didn’t know what kind of point his brother wanted to make but he focused on his superior hearing as he closed his eyes.
“No.” He shook his head as his eyes opened, “this isn’t possible.” He argumented, “it has already happened once it can happen again.” Elijah said even if he himself didn’t know how this was possible. Freya didn’t understand what the brothers were talking about but she waited for them to bring her into the loop.
“There might be another miracle baby on the way.” Elijah announced.
