Facing His Demons (or the Demon’s grandson)

Summary:

Danny is forced by circumstances out of his control to reconnect with Damian, the long lost twin he’s been purposefully not contacting due to Trauma.

Chapter Text

Danny Fenton has a bit of a problem.

Okay, the problem is kinda big, but Jazz was going on earlier before school ended about how catastrophizing is common during exam season and that he should avoid it. Of course, she knows his issues do deserve some serious attention. In fact, she told him many times that this applies only to school things, but Danny is a fast learner so he was quick to apply it to everything else. Does this mean he doesn’t take his problems as seriously as he should? Maybe. But there are benefits to this attitude.

Danny is chill now. He has his panic moments, but he’s settled down after two years of ghost-and-sometimes-human-busting.

So, what’s the issue now? It’s the fucking ninjas tailing him. Actual ninjas, possibly assassins. It… rings a few bells.

Danny has been avoiding the issue for years, truth be told. He knows his past in the League of Assassins. It’s a tale as old as time, really. He gets separated from his lovely(murderous) twin brother, they lose contact, finds out he moved into his father’s custody after years, yadda yadda.

Danny told only a few people about his past. And no, Jazz isn’t one of them, although he’ll have to tell her soon if the ninjas are actually who he thinks they are. He told Tucker, his best friend forever, his homie, his platonic husband. Tucker freaked, of course, and found the whole ordeal cool, then proceeded to beg him to teach him some “sick ninja moves.” So Danny taught him a bit, then asked him to follow Damian’s social media accounts. Tucker was a huge fan of tech, and thus the big tech companies, so it wouldn’t be unusual. Sam, the only other person he told, was a huge help. She’d actually met Damian, and they bonded over whatever those two would have in common. Danny was too scared to ask.

Danny finally made the turn to the walkway leading to Tucker’s house and entered with the extra key he gave him. He raced up the stairs and barged into his friend’s room.

“Woah, man! Watch it!” Tucker hastily dodged from being hit with the door that swung open. He’d been picking his acne, again.

“Sorry, bro. And stop that,” Danny flopped onto his bed and covered his eyes with his hand. He sighs, thinking about the ninjas probably waiting for him to leave, so they could follow him again until… until something happens. Danny glances at Tucker, covers his eyes again, then sighs extra loud for attention.

“Okay, what is it?” Tucker rolls his eyes then flops next to him.

“The fucking ninjas, man,” Danny groans. “They’re following me.”

Tucker sits up straight and looks down at Danny, “Wait, those ninjas?!”

“What other ninjas do I know?”

“I don’t know man! This is big! What do they want? Are they still following you?” Tucker flings himself out of bed to his PC setup, where he quickly pulls up the surveillance of certain Amity hotspots. And there they are, right there in front of a hidden camera, about five watching Tucker’s bedroom window.

“Okay that’s really freaky.”

“Tell me about it!”

“Well, then do something about it!”

“What am I gonna do, confront them? They’re ninjas!” Danny exclaimed incredulously.

Tucker look at him as if he was slow, “And so were you. Besides… can’t you get help if they’re a problem?”

Danny immediately knew what Tucker was suggesting. “No. No way. I’ll just fight them.”

Tucker sighed, “You can’t just take the easy way out, Danny.”

Danny scoffed, offended, “Fighting ninjas isn’t easy.”

“Maybe not, but it’s not out of your comfort zone… You’re scared he’ll hate you because you waited to reach out, but the longer you wait, the angrier he’ll be.”

“It’s the perfect way to sus things out,” Sam’s sudden appearance caused the two boys to yell out in alarm.

“Okay, what the actual fuck?!”

“Language,” Sam scoffed then continued the tradition of flopping onto the bed.

“You gotta stop doing that,” Tucker complained. “How much did you hear, anyway?”

“I heard enough. As I was saying, it’s a good opportunity. You don’t know if he told your sperm donor about you, and you don’t know if he’ll be comfortable with getting back in touch with you. So you go, say hi to him, tell him the truth, and take his lead. What’s the worst that can happen?”

“He’ll stab me,” Danny deadpanned.

“She has a point… so what’s the plan? He just goes to his brother, what about the ninjas tailing him? Do we just let them?”

“What? No! We— meaning Danny, will beat those up. Maybe get answers too, but you’re not leaving us in Amity with ninjas,” Sam answered.

Danny figured it was time to face his demons, and take accountability. He’ll take Damian stabbing him if he could talk with his big brother again.
