Work Text:
Even though her siblings got stood up by their dates, they both look remarkably cheerful, Amity notes. She glances at Edric and Emira as the three Blights stand outside of Hexside, waiting to be picked up by Mom on one of their airships after the very… chaotic events of Grom Night.
Her gaze drops to the ground, her hand reaching to touch the small crown atop her head. A crown that looks identical to the one given to Luz by Grom. A crown that Luz looked incredibly pretty wearing.
Oh Titan, now she’s thinking about Luz, her cheeks burn as blood rushes to her face. Luz looked stunning all dressed up for Grom Night, and when they danced together to subdue Grom, spinning and twirling as they cast magic whilst holding each other’s hands, Amity swore her heart stopped for a moment. Sure, she was too much of a coward to invite Luz to Grom properly, but at least Amity still got to dance with Luz.
“Hey, Mittens…” Emira says in an annoyingly sing-song tone, snapping Amity out of her thoughts.
“What?”
“You’ve gone bright red,” Edric says, smirking.
“So what if I have?” Amity mutters, folding her arms. Ed and Em have been so much nicer since the library incident, but, Titan, they like to annoy her.
“Well… we bet we know exactly what’s got you blushing, don’t we, Ed?” Emira says, nudging her twin.
Amity raises her eyebrows but stays quiet.
“Yeah, let’s take a guess.” Edric puts his hand on his chin, letting out a thoughtful hum that couldn’t sound more fake. “Is it… to do with Luz?”
She wants to deny it (because talking about her crush with her siblings is just embarrassing), but the blush on her cheeks spreads to her entire face, betraying any attempt to hide her feelings.
And for a moment, Amity expects mockery, or horror that her crush is on the human being mentored by a wanted criminal (which is something she guarantees Mom would think if she found out that Amity likes Luz), but instead…
Emira and Edric wrap her in an almost suffocating hug.
“Aw, Mittens has a crush,” Emira says, her tone fond instead of teasing now.
“Oh, shut up,” Amity says, but a smile twitches on her lips.
Edric grins at his twin. “She’s not denying it.”
“Of course, she’s not, Ed,” Emira says. “She’s fallen hard for Luz the human.”
“You’re so embarrassing,” Amity mutters.
“You’re welcome, Mittens,” her siblings say together, and Amity sighs fondly.
