“Grace must not continue to have nightmare,” he states after a moment, “nightmare make sleep bad. Bad sleep bad bad bad for human health.”
”I know,” I assure him, my voice now sounding more like my own and less whiny, “just not sure what I can do about it. Trauma can take a lifetime to get over even at the best of times, and this,” I wave my hands around to indicate Mary and our general current situation, “is not the best of times.”
Grace is desperately touch-starved and suffering from constant nightmares about the day he was forced onto the Hail Mary against his will. Rocky will fix, and Grace will discover some deep-seated truths about himself along the way.
So basically this is me dumping everything possible onto my traumatised space cinnamon roll Ryland Grace, who is not a real human and is actually every single anxiety disorder stacked on top of one another, wearing a trenchcoat and crying. But it's OK, because Rocky is a very clever Eridian, and he will fix his leaky space blob whatever it takes. Mostly film canon but elements taken from the book. I'll leave an apology here in advance, you'll probably need it.
