Work Text:
ClownPierce. That was his given name, one he hated for the vile past behind it. He was a simple killer, an assassin , deadliest by some standards! . . Yet everyone has their humble origins, his was with carnival lights in the realm called the nether. His mother, one of the acrobats with his father of the circus. She had been the one to train him to the extents to become a killer, his father however left after he himself made it big in the showtime business. So at the age of 5, he left without his family in order to gain success. One this happened the training started, daggers thrown at live targets, hunting down those who double crossed the circus, the constant fear of messing up at his position of being the contortionist. This went on until he left to make his own life as a scientist, a person who would attempt to travel the universes ! At least, that was his base goal. The lashes still echoing through the empty halls, this always left him with the question on would anything be different if his father never left?
This was where he met the first of those he would consider his closest allies. Ones he knew were friends and not foes ! . . It was nice to have that affirmation until he didn't. First was the scientist, Branzycraft or simply, Branzy. A pale white haired male around his age, his right arm was replaced with old machinery powered by a strange liquid. He was an interesting fellow, always referring to him as master. Clown didn't mind, after all it was more or less of an situation where Branzy would serve him forever after he saved his life. This is where his heart felt conflicted on many levels. Branzy felt different that anyone, his warm smile, his light grayish purple eyes, how he called for Clown whenever he found something new. God he had never been this head over heels for someone before, and it felt . . . wrong? He was supposed to be a killer after all, though he accepted his advances of love. They both met someone else after a while together, his name? Ashswag , a glitch or robot, even he didn't know. He was a thief, going around the lab and taking small trinkets. Branzy let this happened happily, just glad to be in Ash's presence so Clown let it slide. After what he couldn't even remember time wise, they had done it. They had made portals. The three of them celebrated obviously, they had managed to break through their own reality into new ones! . . . Tragedy struck after, Ash disappeared. Not even for his usual time period, he was gone. Branzy was worried sick, bit Clown never told him how he saw Ash get dragged down that portal he had spent time making. He regrets not pulling him out, that stupid being. . .
After a few months, he went through the same portal before it closed up. Yes Clown was leaving Branzy behind, but he didn't have time to dwell about it. He arrived in a far different region of the nether. One where they had communes, he recognized one main face however. King Prince Zam . In his circus years, he had performed for him at his coronation! He hates those days, but Zam he didn't mind. After making his place at one of the communes, he forged a new identity. Clownelius, a stupid name yes but it worked if people asked if his name was just Clown. Time flied, he would admit. Soon he was following a waste-walker named Pyro to the overworld, the nethers strong sense of justice never left. When he arrived, he found the killer. Rae , she had killed a kid named Damien from what he knew. Evidence enough, he was out for justice as his scythe remained in his hands, the leather gloves keeping a grip on it. Kab , she defended Rae, a pesky rabbit. It reminded him of the one he killed for Branzy, he had loved it in the end. So maybe this could be the same, he just had to get in her head . . . It was easier than he thought, one shit brother later he had her under his strings! She stabbed Maddy , she blamed him for it. If he was being honest however? It was her fault, not his, he wasn't the one who stabbed her after all!
That day, it felt too special too him. Branzy had managed to universe hop to the Kaboodle SMP, looking for him. He had felt too much to put in words that moment, but Clown wouldn't dare let it show in front of the others. It was just another risk, someone could attempt to hurt Branzy to hurt him and he didn't want that. They met Ash soon after, what broke Branzy's heart though was that he didn't remember anything. When Clown asked, all he said he remembered was falling through the portal then appearing. . . Well on the KSMP. The part that broke him on the other hand was that Ash thought he was the one that pushed him through the portal. Branzy tried to convince him otherwise but Ash ran away before he could. It was progress yes, just not the kind he wanted. What he didn't expect certainly was for Branzy to ask him for marriage sometime after that. He didn't decline, this might be his only chance. The wedding was soft and sweet, sure people made fun of his name and allegedly soft side but he didn't care. He was with Branzy and thats what mattered to him . . .
He spoke too soon. When he and Branzy left to talk in the forest, that stupid being took him, his lover, the person he had finally managed to have some sort of happiness with in the longest time. Just as he was finally about to kiss him for the first time, grape lips almost touching his own. In front of his own two eyes, a sign was left, "You don't get to enjoy this until you repay what you owe me." . . . He was a fool for thinking he could escape he past! Magic tried to talk to him but he didn't want that, he just wanted to be alone . Alone with his ideas on how to get them both back. He didn't even know how long it had been before he ran away, Ash and Zam both following in his tracks. He didn't know why they followed him, but he allowed it. After all, he had no reason to stop them! He just had to make sure he didn't get too attached, otherwise they would be gone as well. He couldn't bear the idea of Ash disappearing again, and Zam would've just been dragged in something he had no affiliation with. Foot steps echoed as they traveled the nether as the lava bubbled, the voices following.

They wouldn't stop, no matter how much blood he gave them or entertainment by trying to mutilate his own body and face. Zam and Ash had to help him so many times, Clown just scratching too deep as blood drew from where his nails had dug into. They were gentle helping him, and he didn't know why. He didn't deserve any of their kindness, he was a manipulator, a killer, an assassin. Yet Ash made sure they were always safe while Zam wrapped the bandages, making sure the wounds wouldn't get infected. "Thank you..." words weakly left his mouth as they sat around the fire in the small nether cave. Zam looked up, giving a small smile. It was filled with a look of telling him 'no problem' yet also worry. "Clown, it's no problem. We'll help you anytime! Especially since we're a team now" Ash slid around to the fire, deeming it safe enough. His cheeky smile, the potions he had found from when he fell that Branzy made all securely on his belt. . . He missed him so much, but he couldn't cry. It was a sign of weakness, something he couldn't and wouldn't let himself show. He couldn't remember how he said his name, his gentle voice flowing so naturally. The scars on his arms and chest from failed experiments he couldn't remember how many he had. . . He couldn't remember when or how it happened bit he snapped. Zam holding his shaking body in his arms as his mask fell to the side with a small thud. Why now! Why when he was in front of people who could take advantage of his damned situation! . . "It'll be okay Clown, me and Ash know how hard it is..." his voice whispered as his hands rubbed circles on his back. Choked sobs left his mouth as the tears stained his cheeks, it wasn't long before he felt Ash hug him as well, his hands gently wiping the tears. After that they never talked about it, but he was forever grateful for them.
It wasn't that much time before he found himself bashing his head into the nether rack walls, blood streaming down from the wound. Everything felt too loud, too bright. Everything was ringing as he felt Zam grab his wrists and drag him back while. The world spun as Zam settled him down on the ground as he cape his jacket onto the wound to slow it while he got everything out. Hey! At least that voice was finally gone . . . That was his last thought before he blacked out, armored foot steps approaching them. He didn't know of they would die or not, and all he could mumble out was a single "sorry...." before the black out. He didn't know if his well being would mean Zam's death or not. If so he was sorry, more than he would be able too express. Ash had already left the group out of the blue once again, he couldn't blame him. He just wouldn't know what happened to Clown and Zam. However, he was fine with that.

What greeted him when he woke up was a few feather on his face which the person, he called himself Parrot, apologized for. Zam of course asked questions on weather he felt fine or note, all he could manage was a weak nod. Turns out he had concussion from how hard he bashed his head in. So he remained in bed between what the dragon named Vortex said "In-between seasons". Turns out they were on Lifesteal, an anarchy server. Parrot as the admin offered to let them stay so they took it. He could barely remember his recovery period, season 2 was the same. It all went by in a blur, one he could barely remember. Now when season 3 started it felt . . . almost like a damned fever dream. He was standing in the circle, waiting for everything to start as the new members introduced himself when one too familiar voice rang in his ears. "Hi! My names Branzycraft or just Branzy, and uh. I have amnesia I guess!" He just smiled as he put his hands on his waist. Clown on the other hand, he was frozen in place. This . . . this couldn't be the same Branzy he knew. But it had to be, he had the same pale white hair, the same grayish purple eyes, the scar over his face. God he missed that face, too much.
Season 3 ended just as it had started, and he and Branzy had become good friends, although it hurt his heart that he didn't remember any of the memories. The nights he spent alone while they waited in-between seasons on the 2nd server made for them to wait on. His base was his quiet place where he could let out screams of how much he missed Branzy's love. The memories of everything how he had said his name, called him master had just almost faded but season 3? It brought everything back, the memories of when he had disappeared in front of his eyes. Though thats just the way things go, memories come back and you end up on your bed at midnight crying!
When season 4 started, things stopped going so fast as he teamed with Branzy. He had fallen into someones pit trap so he asked Branzy for help. They ended up killing Leo, Zam, Vitalasy, and Spepticle through what they called the Funhouse. When designing and making it he noticed Branzy swooning over him, it was hilarious he had to admit. The circus is when he had to admit, love sparked again. He spent so much time helping him and making sure he didn't overwork himself for some hearts.

Branzy didn't remember anything he admitted, but he had a robotic arm and he knew how to make it look human. One thing he was always curious about was the heart tattoo with Clown written on it, from what he knew nobody had that name in his small group of friends and acquaintances! So of course when he got the offer to join Lifesteal season 3, he took it! After all this could be his chance to see if he could get his memories back with the help of anyone on the server. So when he saw the mysterious man in the jester like outfit, it interested him. All he had said in his introduction was that his name was ClownPierce. Aside from that he met him a few other times throughout the season. He definitely remembered a wedding? Portals were an important detail as well, considering these were the first bits of his memories to get back. Waiting was the hard part, while waiting for season 4 he never saw Clown on the server. Whenever he asked anyone, they just told him he was probably training to be even deadlier through the he updates of the world.
When season 4 started, it wasn't much for him until Spepticle took his diamonds, leading him to make the Funhouse with Clown. He admitted he felt bad for betraying Vitalasy but he didn't feel too bad! Besides he found himself head over heels for Clown, a feeling too familiar to him. So when Clown asked him to help make the casino, he didn't denied it. Branzy admitted he found himself falling down the stairs of this love, making sure Clown didn't overwork himself. He swore he could see his eyes brighten under that mask. After the chaos of being farmed for hearts and betraying Vitalasy (again), he saw Clown's face. Red demonic eyes with burns covering one aide of his face, eye bags showing how many nights of sleep he had lost worrying about him. It made him sad as he made Clown sleep after, he swore he saw a small smile form on his face though he wouldn't ever know. As he thought about it, his name felt too natural. It wasn't the feeling of someone new, it never was. It was a name, the tone which you would use to refer to your lover!
It was a late night and the both of them had walked into a field of poppies. Clown's mask was off as low hums left his mouth while Branzy followed next to my him. . . "I have a question Branzy" turning his head, he looked at Clown's face. "Yeah Clown?" "...Do you uhm.." he seemed to be hesitanting, even in the dark one could tell he had a soft blush. "You can ask me anything, you know that!" He just smiled at him, Clown smiling softly back at him. "So uhm, do you...love me?.." a heat rose in Branzy's cheeks as he took the question in. Did he love him? His heart raced in his chest as he watched Clown, the other looking away in embarrassment. "Well, yeah! I've liked you, I've liked you Clown." Gently grabbing his hands, red eyes met grayish purple ones. In the few seconds of the silent summer night, Clown grabbed his other hand. Their bodies moved closer before their lips met. It felt sweet, gentle, and... nostalgic . Once what was a blur was filled with his, Clown, and Ash's laughter as they all sat in a lab. He remembered finding Clown, proposing to him, marrying him. Rings touched as they moved closer and separated, he remembered the white flash before bis memories faded, Clown's shocked face as he was ripped apart from him. That face was gone, replaced with a warm smile.
