Work Text:
Ashura watches nii-san reach up, beckoning, and Kousei-chan leaps out of the tree into his arms. The little boy giggles madly as he's swung around in a wide circle, and nii-san's laughter joins his.
It's a lovely sight, one that Ashura doesn't want to disturb, but the shifting of the baby cradled against his chest is a warning of things to come.
"Shhhh!" Nii-san looks up, alert to his mood as always, and Ashura nods at their youngest. "Yuusei-chan fell asleep."
"Otouto is sleeping?" Kousei-chan runs over and Ashura kneels so that the boy can peek at his brother. "Oh! He is..."
Kousei-chan's hands are still so small but the baby's are even smaller, and the way Yuusei-chan's tiny fingers grab onto his brother's... it tugs at Ashura's heart.
He and nii-san used to be like that, and he can see the memories in his own brother's eyes as nii-san watches their children, Sharingan spinning.
These two little boys... they won't grow up the way nii-san and he did, always pushed to do more, study harder, be better. They'll be allowed - no, encouraged - to run and play as much as they want, to do all the things that he and nii-san had to escape their father to have.
They will never have the Sharingan.
Ashura reaches out, taking the hand that's always waiting for him.
Yes, their children will have good lives, free of pain and fear.
He and his brother will ensure it.
