Chapter Text

Tommy felt his eyes begin to droop. It was a long and slow day, he didn't get much done, and standing around doing nothing for hours made him... tired. there was one last person in the building, an old lady, short, and wore a nice maroon dress with little white ruffles. As she began to check out, Tommy looked outside, not realizing how dark it was getting.

"Ma'am?" He walked up to her, giving a tired smile to her, "It's getting dark out. Why don't I walk you out?" The lady looked out, not realizing how dark it was, smiled up at Tommy and nodded. he helped her with her bags of books and pastries, pushing open the door and walking out to the lady's' car. He placed her items into her car and watched as she drove off.

As she drove off, Tommy walked back into the building, a big concrete building, with glass double doors, wide windows. The building was blue when he bought it, and he liked it.

Tommy began to close up shop, he locked the doors, turned off the lights, and let his cows into a larger room on the side of the building. once he finished, he walked up a set of stairs towards the back of the building. it was an odd layout, but it worked out! Once he got upstairs, he took a shower and changed from the blue cardigan and long beige cargo pants to a large gray t-shirt and black basketball shorts. He brushed his teeth and put his blond shoulder-length hair up into a ponytail. He pulled himself into bed, throwing the overs on and letting his body relax, slowly falling to a deep sleep.

DING

DING

The alarm clock on his nightstand rang, groggily, he rose from his bed, tossing off the covers, he sat on the edge of his bed, staring into nothing.

Tommy shakes his head and quickly gets up, starting his daily routine. Before opening up he must feed both Clementine and Henry, then let them out of their pen, next he preps and restocks the kitchen, leaving a hot cup of coffee for himself to cool. He cleaned the tables, the bathrooms, the windows. All right before 6, Tommy wiped his face of sweat, walking to the front doors to unlock.

As he walked to the front door, he pulled out his keys, unlocking the door, when he went back behind counter-

WOOSH

Tommy felt his hair blow back, he grabbed his cup as he walked over to the cash register.

“Hello Monarch.” Tommy sighed as he sipped his cup of coffee.

“Hello Tommy.” The hero smiled as he took his white and green bucket hat off and slightly bowed at the boy. “Can I get my usual?”

“On it!” He responded as he walked to the kitchen. The hero could hear the machines go off, he sat down by the counter, patiently waiting no less than 5 minutes before the boy came back to the counter. “That’ll be 4.57, cash or card?”

“Cash today.” he handed Tommy a five.

“Would you like to donate the rest of the change Sir?”

“To who?” Tommy gave Monarch a look, a small grin forming on his face.

“To me…” The boy deadpanned, before smiling wide. The hero laughed, sipping his drink. As soon as he finished he walked out wishing Tommy a good day, the hero's' large wings lifting him off the ground as he left the building. That was the first and last good thing that day.

Tommy was surprised that his shop was getting business, and he didn't expect it to be like this. People came in with horrible attitudes and screamed at each other, getting Tommy to intervene and kick several people out. Tommy was beyond pissed, he watched people cut in line... leave food, drinks, someone spilled a drink and didn't pick up after themselves.

It happened too early, too quickly, Tommy was pulling up an order, when he felt a-

click

Then he heard gasps and shuffling, as he looked up. there was a gun pointed at him. A younger man, no mask, his hands were shaky.

"Give me all the money in there." He demanded. Tommy looked at him, then looked at the cash register, he had pepper spray...

"Okay buddy" Tommy slowly opened the register, pulling out whatever cash there was when-

"He has a gun!" a child screamed, the man holding the gun snapped his head towards the boy. Tommy felt his body move on its own, this never happened before... he'd been robbed before, but he never... fought back. His legs were already over the counter, his eyes locked onto the gunman, his body twisted, reeling his leg back. His leg slammed down onto the mans head, the gun escaping his grasp as he plummeted to the ground. Tommy felt his heart beating, his eyes strained, as he breathed heavy, not taking his eyes off the gunman, he huffed, his mouth aching.

He stood up, even as his steps staggered he made his way to the assailant, his hand opened wide as he dragged the man by his hair. Pulling him out of the building.

"If I EVER, see you around here again, you'll lose more than your dignity!" He threatened, throwing the assailant into the street. Tommy walked back into the shop, he looked around, everyone was outside... He kicked the gun towards the kitchen out of view. Tommy walked back behind the counter, breathed and smiled.

After about an hour, people began piling in again. Only 4 more hours... yay.

Tommy was finally done, his shift was over. And FUCK did he need help, if that was a busy as it'd get, he'd need help. So he cleaned up, put away his cows,  shuffled upstairs and slept. He slept thinking about tomorrow.

The next morning Tommy shot out of bed, earlier than usual, he decided to put up some Help Wanted signs. He prepped the shop, and today he'd try something different. He pulled up his hair, put on his apron and rolled up his sleeves set down many different things on his counter, like a spark lit, he felt changed. Today he'd try something new.

Once the shop opened, the building pilled with people. Tommy signed and smiled.

“You have cheesecake?” someone asked, Tommy looked up to see a young woman, Alyssa. She was a sweet woman and helped Tommy when he was in high school. Her blonde hair pulled into a bun, a black hoodie and green cargo pants.

“Yep!” he smiled, “Wanted to try something new.” Tommy spent the better half of his morning learning new pastries, a variety, from Danish's, creeps, to éclairs.

The rest of the day went smoothly, after the events from the day before he felt something change... it was probably nothing. He went the day with no incidents, happy he made a decent profit off his new desserts. Tommy closed shop early, he needed to run some errands, Tommy walked to a fabric store, for garments to be made, if he ended up employing anyone anytime soo, he needed uniforms.

Tommy walked home excited, when he heard shouting, so he began to slow down.

“Dad!” a younger voice screamed. “Dad, you’re drunk!”

“I don’t care, you lazy brat!” a gruff voice called out. “I told you to do something, and aaaaaall you did was sit in your room!”

“I was finishing school work!” the boy yelled back. Tommy followed the voices to find two ram hybrids butting heads. The shorter one wore overalls with a black and yellow striped shirt. “You know what? I’m done!” the boy yelled.

“You'll NEVER make it by yourself!” the older ram screamed, he wore a blue sweater and shorts.

"Watch me!" the older ram slammed the door and the smaller one just stood there. His head low, his shoulders shaking. The sky began to darken suddenly. Small drops of water began to litter the ground, going from a sprinkle to hard rain within minutes, the boy looked up at the sky, he then looked to the ground. His shoulders began to shudder, and he cried.

“What am I gonna do now?” his voice wavered. Tommy sighed as he turned and he walked away. He walked to the doors of his shop, his feet stopping before he could reach the doors and sighed again, then-

He turned his ass around and found the boy walking alone in the rain, his clothes drenched. He crashed into the boy and the two tumbled to the ground, “Ow, fuck…” he cursed under his breath. The other boy looked up, holding his head, locking eyes with Tommy.

“Oh shit…” the boy held his head, “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s alright,” Tommy said as he pushed himself off the ground. “Are you okay?” The boy looked at him wide-eyed.

“I…” Tommy held his hand out to the boy, helping him off the ground “I- I just got kicked out…” Tommy tried his best to act surprised as if he didn’t just eavesdrop.

“I'm Tommy.” He held his hand out and took the boys hand, “Do you need a place to stay?” Tommy offered. He was done being alone, he needed a friend.

"If- Yes." The boy nodded, "I'm Tubbo!"

"Nice to meet you Tubbo." Tommy smiled wide, "I know a place!"

A trail of white follows, making small etches into the rock below their feet.
