Chapter Text
Skyscraper Rooftop.
A guy with black hair and black iris and white pupils and sclera, stands on top of a skyscraper looking around Aivel Downtown. “Stryder to Home Base, can you read me?”
“Yes, we can read you. How’s downtown looking?” A female receptionist answered.
“Boring and peaceful, no sight or sound of trouble in this city. If I wasn’t on a mission, this would’ve been a great vacation.” Stryder lightly chuckled.
“That would be nice,” the female receptionist sighs.
A loud explosion happens nearby, catching Stryder off by surprise.
“Heh heh, looks like trouble has finally arrived.” Stryder smirked with a grin.
“Stryder, before you go, you need to hear this. A large reading just randomly showed up in your area with other readings spawning all over Downtown.” The receptionist said as she noticed more and more readings showed up.
“Good, makes this more fun for me,” Stryder said.
“I’m calling Percy and Duncan to head over to your location.” She said, slightly worried.
“No, don’t, they’re still on their mission right?” Stryder asked.
“Yes, but-”
“Call them when they’re done with their mission,” Stryder said before hanging up. “Let’s start it up,” Stryder said before jumping off the skyscraper.
Hotel Rooftop
A portal opens up on top of a hotel with a male in greyish blue hair with green eyes and a female with brown purple hair walking out of the portal.
“Wow, this city looks better than what we’ve seen on paper.” The girl said, looking at her surroundings.
“Yeah you're right. Let's stay focused and do what we came to do.” The man said as he walked towards the edge of the rooftop. “Where are you, Stryder ?”
A loud explosion happens nearby, gaining their attention. They noticed robots coming out a cyan portal shooting at civilians and buildings.
“OK, this is new to me.” The girl said, surprised to see robots coming out of portals and destroying things.
“Evelyn, go help the civilians and take care of those robots. I have a gut feeling whoever is in charge of those things will get in my way,” The guy said.
“So we're going to have fun as we work then.” Evelyn said in a teasing tone.
“You could say that.” Chuckled Xander. “But if you find him . Let me know and don’t engage with him. This plan needs to right,” Xander added.
Evelyn nodded before jumping in front of the robot. Xander looks around as he sees robots from small to big roaming around the streets.
“ Quite an interesting event we stumbled across today .” Xander said to himself, jumping in the opposite direction of Evelyn.
Aivel Downtown
Stryder landed on the street, crushing a robot who was aiming his firearms at a couple of kids. “Y’all kids hide and go home.” Stryder said, pulling out a beam blade. The kids ran with Stryder running towards a herd of robots, slicing them up into pieces before exploding.
More robots begin firing at him, but Stryder dodges as he quickly dashes towards them, slicing and hitting them as he runs across the street. One of the larger robots jumps right in front of Stryder, materializing a shield. The robot hits Stryder in the face, sending him flying as he crash lands inside of a restaurant that was nearby.
“Ouch, the big ones are different.” Said Stryder, getting up from the attack.
“Launching weapons.” Stryder stares outside, seeing a couple robots firing beam cannons at the building. Stryder puts his hands out in front of him, casting an energy barrier to block the robots’ beams.
Smoke appeared covering the inside of the now destroyed restaurant. Stryder jumps out of the smoke while throwing his beam blade through the big robot neck, chopping its head off. He quickly runs to his blade as he kicks the robot’s head while dodging the remaining of the robots’ firearms.
“You dumb robots never stood a chance,” Stryder said, surrounding a robot’s head on the ground with his barrier. Stryder kicks the head at a nearby robot, causing it to explode. He quickly catches it and chucks at the remaining of the robots who were close to each other, destroying them in one strike.
“Ok, I’m done with this, I don’t see any more robots on my end. Is there more?” Stryder asked, radioing Home Base.
“There’s a few, but most of them are on the outside.” Stryder’s ears perked as a different, but familiar female voiced answered.
“Strella!? When did you get back?” Stryder asked in surprise.
“Not too long really, Stacy and I just got back and we finally got her to join us.” Strella said with excitement in her voice.
Multiple loud explosions could be heard on the far side of Downtown, with a tornado could be seen on the other side.
“Strella, what’s going on!? This does not sound like a few.” Stryder asked, as he saw the tornado on one side and couple of large smokes on the other.
“There are other people that are downtown fighting the remaining robots,” Strella said, looking at her screen.
One of the screens showed three guys, one running and teleporting as he attacked the robots, another one punching and kicking the robots, and the last one was controlling the wind as he had a couple of robots swirling in his wind.
The other screen caught her attention the most. She saw one guy single handily destroying the robots like childs play.
“Stryder, go check out the the explosions happened. We can leave the tornado alone, it won’t do harm to the city.” Strella said, focusing on the other screen.
“Alright then.” Stryder said, running towards the smoke. While running, Evelyn watches on top of the building, overhearing Stryder’s conversation.
Xander
Xander walks up to the robots with dark energy surrounding him. The robots tried to scan him, but each one malfunctioned and exploded.
“Aw, don’t try to scan something that dosen’t want to be scanned.” Xander said as the remaining robots started to attack.
“Xander, get ready. He’s heading your way. I’m following him as fast I can, but I might not make it when he does.” Evelyn said, quickly calling Xander before hanging up.
“So he is. Then he better see this.” Xander said, stopping all the robots in his area with his energy before throwing them up and exploding them.
“You!?” Xander turns around, seeing Stryder right in front of him.
“Well, that was fast,” Xander said, chuckling to himself.
“What, our last fight was too quick and short for you. Cuz if your looking to finish it, I’ll gladly help and finish it.” Said Stryder, staring at Xander looking for any openings.
“Good, your decision didn’t take long at all.” Said Xander, letting his energy surround him.
Stryder runs up to Xander trying to punch him, but Xander grabs it as he tries to throw a punch on his own. But Stryder quickly ducks under it, grabbing Xander’s wrist and slamming him into the ground. Xander lifts himself up with his energy, pushing Stryder back a few distances as he pulls out a black blade.
Stryder landed on his feet as he pulled out his beam blade. The two rushed at each other, with both swords clashing with sparks coming from each clash. Xander tries to thrust his sword forward at Stryder, but Stryder side steps and quickly kicks Xander backwards.
Xander turns around seeing Stryder leap in mid air as he tries to slash downward at Xander, but Xander blocks his sword as he holds his sideways.
“Not bad, but it’s time to end this.” Xander said, noticing Evelyn from a good distance as she had a dark aura in her hands. “NOW!!” Xander shouted, with Evelyn trapping Stryder with her energy barrier.
“What the hell!?” Stryder tries to punch, kick and slash the dark energy barrier. But it was useless. “Coward, you couldn’t fight me like a man.” Stryder yelled, noticing Evelyn walking up from behind, as she was containing him.
“Fight you. No, I never even intended on fighting you. Maybe at a later date, but right now I need some of your strong energy.” Xander said as Evelyn’s energy barrier started to take Stryder’s energy. Xander grabs his container as Stryder’s energy flows into it.
“How long do I need to hold him?” Evelyn said, struggling to contain the barrier.
“You can stop in a few, don’t over due yourself.” Xander answer, noticing Evelyn was struggling.
Stryder slowly drops to his knees, as the barrier continues to slowly drain him. He looks at Xander and Evelyn in anger, but his face turned into confusion as he saw a blue star heading towards him.
“LOOK OUT!!!” a voice shouted, catching Xander and Evelyn off guard.
Xander and Evelyn notice a blue star moving at insane speed. The blue star knocked Evelyn towards Xander on the ground hard, dropping the barrier with some slowly going back to Stryder. Stryder drops to the ground as the blue star barely hits Xander. Xander quickly grabs the container and seals it as some of his energy goes back to him.
“Evelyn!! You OK!?” Xander said, ignoring the blue star that was quickly gone.
“No. What was that?” Evelyn asked weakly, slightly struggling to get back up, but falls back to the ground.
“I don’t know, but we should leave now.” Xander said, creating a portal.
“Hey XANDER! We’re not done yet!” Stryder shouted, getting back up while charging an energy ball. He chucks the energy ball, but Xander swaps it away with his blade.
“We’ll fight again.” Xander said before walking into the portal while carrying Evelyn. Stryder collapses as the portal closes in front of him.
