Chapter Text
October 30th, 2020 - New York City; Grand Nexus Hotel - 8:20pm
The night was cool and windy in New York City four hours from midnight when a large turtle-like vehicle stopped in front of a tall tower-like building. The Grand Nexus Hotel; home to Big Mama; the owner of the Battle Nexus and one of the most dangerous mob bosses of the Hidden City. However today there was no need to worry about such things as she was holding a party in honour of the turtle’s victory over the Kraang. She had promised not to pull any unsavoury tricks on the group tonight.
None at all.
At least that’s what she says, but most of the group believes otherwise.
The four turtles, rat and three humans that were attending said party got out of their designated seats in the turtle-tank and headed for the revolving door. The blue-clad turtle played with his blue tie around his neck on his suit, cringing at how tight it was against his shell, especially the still healing cracks on said area.
Each of the turtles wore a black suit with a white undershirt and tie that matched their bandana. Their Father wore a fancy kimono with the Hamato crest engraved on it. April wore a yellow knee-length dress with her usual green jacket while Cassandra wore a black thigh-high dress. Casey wore a suit similar to the turtles only his tie was black instead.
“Do we really have to be here? This is Big Mama after all,” he asked, still trying to loosen his tie.
His older brother in red, took his hand away from his tie earning a glare from said red-eared slider. “I know how you feel, Leo, but it’s polite for us to at least attend. This party is in honour of us saving New York no matter how suspicious it may be.”
Leo let out a loud groan as he followed his family into the hotel. He kept glancing around, trying to see if he could find anything suspicious in the main lobby.
Nothing caught his eye.
Nothing yet at least.
All he saw were banisters with decorations, the main desk for registration and a small lounging area along with the elevators which said Yokai was coming out of.
“You’re finally here!” A feminine voice called as Big Mama exited the elevator. She approached the group, admiring each outfit per person. “All of you look simply splendiferous!” Her eyes went down to Splinter, narrowing at him from behind her spectacles. “Especially you my Muffin-beefcake!”
Big Mama wore a silver sequin dress to match her hair with a purple stripe going down the side to match her everyday wear.
The old rat blushed while the group of teenagers behind Splinter pretended to gag and barf. In the pretext of Donnie he looked like he really was about to.
“Now, how about all of you follow me down to the main venue?”
There were nods, mostly undecided as everyone was still unsure about what the spider Yokai was planning.
Leo folded his arms, huffing, still feeling suspicious about the whole thing.
They decided to follow her onto the elevator, down to the level below. The Yokai in the elevator pressed the button for it to change over from the surface to the Hidden City. He frowned, pressing it again.
And again.
And again.
But it didn’t seem to work.
This seemed to cause Big Mama to turn her head; a frown plastered across her face. “What is wrong?”
“I don’t know, Ma’am. The elevator isn’t changing channels. It’s never done this before,” he sounded confused, but also scared as he kept pressing the button.
“Did you stall the elevator somehow?” Leo growled out, glaring at Big Mama.
She let out a scoff. “Of course not. If I was thinking of killing anyone here I wouldn’t put myself in harm’s way doing it, would I?”
Leo immediately deflated at the comeback, but still had some fire in him to fight if need be.
The sound of something snapping above them along with the sound of metal screeching against metal caused the group to cover their ears.
“What is that noise?” Casey cried out, having never heard it before.
It reminded him of the war cries of the Kraang.
Or the screams of Resistance members dying.
“I believe that is the elevator’s brakes,” Donnie spoke up, looking up from his phone. “The cables must’ve snapped and the brakes have started up to stop us from crashing.”
“Good to know…”
All of a sudden the sound stopped and before anyone knew it they were plummeting down the elevator from the surface to the Hidden City. Instead of a slow descent it was fast and bumpy. Everyone was either in the air or bouncing up and down between the floor and the roof. Their screams continued until the elevator reached the bottom; the floor and roof were squished together like a sandwich.
Blood dripped between the cracks of the elevator as Yokai guests noticed the collapse, screams echoed throughout the halls.
No one could’ve survived that.
