A nursing home in Dublin sets the scene,
And we, as through a window, watch in shock:
A puckish elder lady dressed in green
Connives and misbehaves around the clock.
Her name is Geraghty, this widow bold
Who slips out to the shops to pilfer gin;
She can match wits with someone half as old
And has corrupted her grandson Kevin.
He may not be the fav’rite grandson, yet
His gran’s an iron hand in velvet glove,
And if he plays accomplice he may get
Inheritance, or some small crumbs of love.
Although in age she might be “o’er the hill,”
This canny granny does whate’er she will.
