It was beautiful afternoon in San Francisco with not a single cloud in the sky. A perfect day for a Birthday for the 7-year-old little girl named Enid Sinclair that she ran outside in her favorite pink T-shirt and teal shorts to play with the other kids chasing each other around the yard. Then she notices her parents talking to other adults and decided to run up to greet them and everyone else "Mom! Dad!!" Enid yelled out cheerfully.
"Little Pup!!" Murray said as she got closer "How's my Birthday girl doing?" he asked as lift his daughter into the air. "I'm having Fun!! Billy crash into a bush earlier, it was funny!! Enid said laughing.
"Oh, I bet it was" Murray chuckling himself as he turns towards his wife "Esther honey, can you round up the rest of the Pups and get the party started?" Murray said as he turn to his wife.
”Sure dear” Esther said walking away from the group.
“So David, how was it visiting your cousin in Romania?” he ask looking towards a pale dark haired man holding a umbrella. “Oh the visit went very well, but Yoko is still a little bummed out that we could stay longer” David said as he turns to look at his daughter sitting at the table all by herself.
”Well that’s a bummer, there is always a next time though. You guys do have all the time in world to pay another visit to the family” Murray said as they chuckle at the title joke before having a moment of silence.
“So have you heard the news lately?” David said with a grim expression making Murray’s match.
”Hmm” Murray hummed as he thought of something “Hey Little Pup” he said to his daughter “Yeah Dad?” Enid said grabbing her attention.
”You see that little girl over there?” Murray said pointing at a girl with long black hair “Uh-Huh” Enid said nodding her head “Why don’t you go and see if she want to be friends with you while I have a chat with my old friend here” he said putting her down “Okay” Enid said cheerfully as she ran off to the party table.
Murray watch his daughter go to the table before looking at David “C’mon, let’s walk and talk”.
Enid ran up to the girl at looking bummed out holding a small black umbrella “Hello!” Enid said extremely excited the girl jump a little. She knew she was coming, but didn’t expect a sunshine greeting her “Hey?” she did with confused looked.
”Why do you look so sad on a such sunny day like this?” Enid ask beaming with light.
“Oh it’s nothing. I just missed my family members we visited in Romania” she looking more down. “Don’t look so sad, you’ll visit them again!! I’m sure it!!” Enid said giving a toothy grin making the other girl smile.
“So what’s your name anyway? My name is Enid!!” she said as stick her hand for a shake “Pleasure meeting you, name's Yoko” Yoko said giving her hand a shake.
”Not to be rude, but what’s with the umbrella?” Enid ask pointing at it “Um we vampires are sensitive to sunlight and my parents couldn’t find the special sun screen we use, so we’re stuck with these for now” Yoko said twirling the umbrella around.
Enid gave a shock impression “You’re a Vampire!! That’s like super cool!!” Enid said bouncing up and down in her chair.
That made Yoko truly laugh “You’re weird!!” she said as she continues to laugh. “Are you going to guess what I am?” Enid ask looking the most happiest girl alive “I’m gonna guess a werewolf” Yoko said leaving a shocked face Enid.
”How did you know?” Enid ask with her jaw drop “Eh an easy guess. A cabin in the woods, plenty of space to burn off energy, and that my parents told me we were going to visit an old werewolf family friend” Yoko said with a smirk on her face.
A few minutes pass by as the girls talk more about what they were interested in, what they liked and didn’t like becoming really good friends. Enid was about to ask another question, but got interrupted by her mother and the other kids running up to the table “Enid, where did your father run off to?” Esther ask looking around, but couldn’t find him.
”He went over there with Yoko’s dad to talk about something” Enid said pointing where her father went.
”Well can you go get them, while I get everything set up here Honey” Esther said getting the kids to there seats.
“Okay Mom” Enid getting out of her seat “We’ll talk later” she said to Yoko before running off to where her father went.
Murray and David went around the house so they could chat without anyone else listening “So you heard the news, right?” David said with some concern.
“I’ve heard” Murray looking grim “So you know what you must do, right?” David ask. “I know, I’m plan on talking to Esther later this week” Murray said looking at David.
”Murray!! There are Hunters out there!!” David said almost yelled with a even more concern look on his face. “They already Hunted down a pack not to far from here” David said pointing over the mountain.
”I know, I know…” Murray said looked around hoping no heard them “Look, I’ll talk to my wife about moving into one my cousin bigger sanctuary packs in San Francisco tomorrow” Murray said with a sigh at the end.
David put his hand Murray’s shoulder “Look, I’m just worried for you and your family, but this place isn’t what it used to be. The Hunters are getting more bolder in their hunts” David said as he gave his shoulder a pat.
“No, no you’re right. It’ll be best for the kids to feel safe in a bigger pack than here at a lonely cabin in the middle of the woods” Murray said looking back at the house.
There was a moment of silence before David brought something up “Look, if you ever need help I’m a call away. My wife and I wouldn’t even mind lending you guys some money” David said with a kind look.
”Thanks, Esther or I will call if we ever need help” Murray said this time patting David on the shoulder.
The nice moment between friends was interrupted as Enid comes running towards them “Dad!!” Enid yell out cheerfully.
“Little Pup!!” Murray said as he pick his daughter up “What are you doing back here?” Murray ask pinching her cheek. “Mom said that everything is ready and told me to get you guys” Enid said laughing. “Is that so, well we better get going then shall? We don’t want to miss your birthday after all” Murray said as he and David started walking back to the party.
The party went amazing for Enid, she gotten washable hair dye, and a lot of pink clothes even though her mother thought it was a bit too much pink. Enid just had the best birthday ever, made new best vampire friend and even took a picture together!! She couldn’t ask for a better day ever!!
The day eventuality turn night and everyone had to leave until it was just the Sinclair family left. Enid and her siblings were past out cold having spent too much energy.
”Look at them” Murray said as he look at his children pile up on each other in a literal “dog pile”. “I know aren’t they just the cutest?” Esther said with a smile on her face.
Murray chuckled “C’mon, let’s head onto bed and let the little ones sleep. They spent a lot of energy today” he said as he wrap his arm around his wife. “Yeah I’m pretty tired myself” Esther said making a yawn heading towards their bedroom.
”Right behind you” Murray said as he closed the kid’s bedroom door and follow his wife.
The night gotten darker and colder as time went by, but Murray felt uncomfortable in his sleep. Feeling a bit sweaty as he finally open his eyes to see smoke coming from behind his bedroom door.
”Esther!” Murray tapping his wife awake “Esther! Get up we need to leave!!” Murray yelled getting out of bed wide awake and scared. Esther woke up “What’s happening?” Esther question not knowing what’s going on.
“The house is on fire! Quick get the kids and get out of the house through the back door!” Murray order. “Why through the back door?” Esther ask confused “Hunters are here, go through the back and find someplace to hide. While I get the keys to the truck!” Murray yell as he ran out the door.
Esther got her robe on and immediately went to the kid’s to wake them up “Zack!!… Billy!!… Fallon!!… Tyler!!… Enid!! Come wake up, have to go!!” Esther yell hurrying trying to wake up her children.
”What’s going on Mom?” Fallon the eldest sibling ask “There’s a fire!! We need to get out of the house!!” Esther yelled scared gathering her pack of 5 to follow her down the stairs and out the back door.
”Where’s Dad?” Tyler ask looking around really scared “He’ll be here now come on!” Esther ordered as she herd her children to a hiding place. Moments later Murray made his way there to see if they made it out safe. “Is everyone alright?” He ask his wife real worried “Yeah we’re fine” Esther said calming down as Murray look at his children “Wait, where’s Enid?” He ask not seeing her.
Esther turn around to see that she wasn’t there “She was just here!” she said looking frantically.
“Wait” Murray said as he turn towards the burning house “Oh no”.
