Chapter 1: Birthday

Chapter Text

It was August 17th, Tweek's birthday. Another year closer to death.

"Ack! I'm gonna die soon!" Tweek screeched right in his boyfriend's ear after receiving his birthday gift and hugging him in thanks.

"Tweek, you're eighteen. Your life has barely begun." Craig said dispassionately, contrasting greatly to Tweek's tone.

"What about the death of my childhood? My innocence! My whimsy! My-- ngh! Dead!" Tweek was tugging on fistfuls of his hair when Craig gently placed his hands on Tweek's.

"Hey, I get it. Getting older is scary, but I'll be here to support you every step of the way, babe." Craig pulled Tweek's hands out his hair and held them in his own, stroking the back of each with his thumbs.

Tweek lowered his head onto Craig's shoulder, trembling and whimpering.

"What if you die before me?" Tweek mouthed into Craig's shoulder.

"I won't."

"How do you kn--"

"At least not anytime soon." Craig corrected. "Even if I do, you're stronger and more independent than you always give yourself credit for. Don't forget how we got together. Your acting skills blew everyone away." Craig said, affection painting his tone.

"I made you sound like a scumbag."

"So? That was eight years ago. No one remembers that when we've been together this long. It's embarrassing to say this, but after that, whenever I thought about you and all that passion that you managed to just muster up for a show, my heart would race like crazy. I thought it was from anger until I held your hand for the first time and it felt just right. I never thought I could feel that way about someone."

"Oh, Craig. You're so cheesy and lame. If only everyone else could see how emotional you get when we're alone." Tweek teased.

"Shut up." Craig said with no bite behind his words.

"But I love that about you. I love you." Tweek squeezed Craig tightly. Craig squeezed back.

"I love you, too. You know, you don't have to have a big birthday party if you're feeling too anxious. We can call everything off and celebrate together, just the two of us." Craig whispered.

Tweek liked the sound of that idea.

Thus, Tweek's birthday "party" constituted of Tweek, Craig, Stripe #14, and Tweek's cockatiel, Tweet, in Tweek's room watching horror movies. Tweek had become quite the horror movie fanatic in recent years, despite how unexpected it seemed. Horror movies somehow calmed his anxiety with their over the top nature in comparison to his real life problems. Tweek snuggled closer into Craig, the blanket over the two made him feel extra warm and safe. It was the best birthday he could've had.
