Work Text:

“You are in so much trouble~!”

Timetagger pushes Sandboy away by the face while he continues walking into City Hall. The King of Nightmares quickly picked himself up and followed after Timetagger, though being more annoying by walking behind Timetagger and acting as if he had never done anything wrong before. This is just untrue; Timetagger, Sandboy, and Puppeteer are known as a troublemaker trio since they were the only kid Akumas around at that time.

They gave the council grey hairs long before some of them should.

The trio had split up at some point in favour of doing their own thing. Timetagger (Christmaster at the time) went to work for Santa Claws at his workshop, Puppeteer works at the Anti-Paris News Station with her mom – Prime Queen – and Lady Wifi as her mentor, and Sandboy acts as Evillustrator’s assistant. However, their mentors always make sure that they get to hang out from time to time.

“I didn’t even do anything, Sandy.” Timetagger glares at his friend over his shoulder but just got a cheeky smile instead. “Anti-Paris is still standing, I clearly am not ruling the place, and Evie is just fine. I didn’t break any of the rules and should be just fine.”

Sandboy finally moves to stand next to him but stops Timetagger from opening the door.

“It seems that you forgot what day it is,” Sandboy steps around him and created an image of Bubbler with a birthday hat that looks quite comical on top of his head. “How about I jog your memory.”

Chris! Dude,” Sand Bubbler sounds excited, “make sure you arrive early to my party, I need help setting it up.

“Today is his birthday…”

How can Timetagger forget? His brother has been talking about it for months and Timetagger even marked it on his calendar but he has no control over if his counterpart gets Akumatized or not.

He throws the door open to see Bubbler sitting in his normal spot with party decorations laying around, some put up while others are barely holding on. His brother didn’t look up from where he’s playing on his phone but Timetagger knows that he messed up badly, even though he also knows that it’s not his fault.

“I’m sorry, Bubbler.” Timetagger grab Timebreaker’s chair and sat down in front of his brother, wanting Bubbler to know how truly sorry he is. “I don’t know how to fix this.”

Bubbler looks up from his phone – looking indifferent – before suddenly grinning at the sight of Timetagger. He tosses his phone onto the table and pulls the both of them to their feet.

“Dude, I was wondering when you’re going to get here.” Bubbler let him go to start grabbing streamers to put up. “We got so much work to do for tonight, I don’t want to disappoint the council especially since Dark Blade finally agreed to come to one of my parties. Isn’t that awesome, Dark Blade finally coming to one of my parties!”

“Wait, aren’t you mad?” Timetagger asks, wondering if his brother has finally lost it or something.

Bubbler stop what he was doing to look at his brother; namely trying to hang up a few streamers by the door and almost falling flat on his face because he decided to use Stoneheart’s chair, and that chair had seen better days though Evie did decide to make it steel instead of trying to make it look like the other chairs but strong enough for Stoneheart.

“Mad?” Bubbler hops down. “Why would I be mad?”

“Because my counter got Akumatized on your birthday and–”

Bubbler put a hand on Timetagger’s shoulder to stop him from talking. “On my very first birthday, the whole council got akumatized and we spent it doing whatever in Paris. I was bum because it was going to be awesome and really kick start a lot of stuff for us.” His brother’s face relaxes and he smiles at the memories. “When we got back, we were all too tired to do anything but when we came into this room Evie had it decked out for the party anyways.”

Timetagger remembers that because Evie asked him and a few other Akumas to help to get the room set up. There was even an argument that happened between Reverser and Evillustrator which caused the two to become friends after. A lot had happened that day and Timetagger kinda forgot in the grand scheme of everything; it felt like a lifetime ago now.

“In other words, we realized that until Hawkmoth is stopped we’ll always be moving plans around and celebrating events at another time.”

His brother grabs the box of streamers and hands a roll for Timetagger to take.

“I’ll never be mad at you for something that you can’t control.”

Timetagger wants to say something but is unsure of what that could be. Instead, they worked together to throw everything together before the council, plus a few extra guests came through the door.

...

The party appears to be going well, it's no grand celebration but no one seems to care all that much. Stoneheart and Horrificator are setting up the snacks table. Dark Blade, Roger Cop, and Copy Cat had already started up a game of cards; talking about who knows what with Stormy Weather butting in at random times as she having a conversation with Pharaoh.

Dark Cupid, Lady Wifi, Bubbler, and Syren are having their own conversation off to the side; though Lady Wifi is spending most of her time keeping an eye on everyone else.

Evillustrator and Reverser are sitting at the table in Lady Wifi and Bubbler’s spot. It took a lot of time for those two to become friends since Reverser was still hurt by Evillustrator’s counterpart while Evillustrator felt hurt by Reverser. After their huge argument on the day of the party, the two became quite good friends after that point.

“I can’t believe you told him that,” Puppeteer said. “Bubbler could never be mad at his brother.”

Sandboy doesn’t look sorry in the least about anything he said. “I can’t believe he actually believed me.” The Akuma flop down into the bean bag next to Timetagger as Puppeteer sat down on her own bean bag, dropping her bag off to the side. Her wand almost went flying out but surprisingly didn’t. Her pigtails have long since disappeared and were replaced by a braid instead that Lady Wifi helped Puppeteer with. “I mean why would your brother ever hate you for something like that?”

The question was directed at Timetagger but he’s far too tired to answer properly. Instead of answering, Timetagger grabs a pillow that’s just lying on the ground next to him and threw it into Sandboy’s face, earning a yell and Rogercop telling them to not cause too much trouble.

“You suck sometimes, you know that?” Timetagger question but earn himself a cheeky grin instead of a proper answer.

Even though things didn’t quite work out like Timetagger thought they would; this is nice too.

Notes:

I can't believe I manage to write more for this series, normally I write a little bit and post something that I wrote and then disappeared to work on other stuff. It's a nice change of pace. I also wanted to write about the Akumas in the future because I think it would be interesting and it was because I had to spend quite a bit of time figuring out relationships and who considered who family and whatnot.

Also, I did not plan on making Timetagger/Christmaster, Puppeteer, and Sandboy as a trio but they are. I think I made them similar to Lady Wifi, Bubbler, and Evillustrator in terms of a trio. Not quite sure how it works quite yet but it's not bad. (Normally, Lady Wifi, Bubbler, and Evillustrator are always hanging out even in larger groups; mostly because Bubbler and Lady Wifi - especially Lady Wifi - are known as the leader(s) of the Akumas).

And congratulations to Evillustrator for becoming a dad...by accident. He was the one that end up taking Sandboy under his wing after the Akuma first appeared and causing a lot of trouble; basically making a lot of Akumas live through their worst nightmares. Again stuff keeps happening and I just let them because I think it's funny or interesting; it's also the reason why Horrificator and Stoneheart end up adopting Feast.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day/night!
