your locker is a mess

Tara POV.

Work Text:

I watch my girlfriend Darcy open her locker and am absolutely disgusted by the sight I witness. Stacks upon stacks of crinkled papers, unsorted books, old wrappers from the stash of lollies she somehow seemed to accumulate over the years, stuff just shoved in without any sort of order whatsoever. She searches through the masses of rubbish to find what she needs for next period, and this is when I lose it. "Darcy, you know it would be so much easier if you just had some sort of system of organisation so you don't lose everything." I say, causing Darcy to turn around and look at me like I'm crazy. "Jonesy, have you met me? Clutter is my lifestyle, and I'm used to it." she says, almost proud of her supposed 'achievement'. "I know, but I still think we should at least try and find something that works for you, a bit better than this. It's not exactly healthy to have so much clutter around." I say, and Darcy suddenly becomes very offended. "I'm fine, I don't need help organising my stuff, I've survived this long, it's too late to change now. And besides, I don't want to become a control freak like you!" she snaps, slamming her locker door shut and running off.

I don't follow her, I decide to give her some space as I feel like I may just make things worse. Instead of heading to English class, I hide in the bathroom for a bit. I am definitely not going to go to class when I feel a panic attack coming on. I let myself cry once I'm in the safety of a toilet cubicle. I try to take some deep breaths, which is incredibly hard. Please breathe, I tell myself mentally, think about nothing but breathing. I do this until my breathing returns to normal, and I've successfully prevented a full-blown panic attack. Once I'm fully confident that I'm not going to panic again, I begin to make my way out of the bathroom and head to my locker to get my stuff for English.

I walk through the hallway and am accidentally bumped into by someone, causing me to drop all my books. "FUCK sorry..." a very familiar voice says, and I look up to see the blond-haired girl with the hazel eyes that I call my girlfriend. "Darcy!" I exclaim, as she helps me pick up my books. "Hey, Jonesy, I'm sorry for getting angry with you earlier, I shouldn't have gotten so frustrated, it was wrong of me." Darcy says. "Don't say sorry, it wasn't my place to berate you for your messy locker like that." I reply. "Tara, you've been crying over me yelling at you, I can tell. You had a panic attack, didn't you?" she says, wiping a stray tear from my cheek. I know she's being serious with me because she called me 'Tara' instead of 'Jonesy'. "Y... yeah, I did. But it was only very minor, so don't worry." I reply. "You know what, Jonesy? I'll let you help me sort out my locker." Darcy tells me. "Really?" I exclaim, shocked. "Yeah. I do need help with it, I was just too scared to admit it, and I didn't want to face the problem. All you did was force me to finally face it, which scared me." Darcy says, giving me a little kiss on my forehead. "I should probably head to English class, but I'll help you sort out your locker at lunch." I reply, to which Darcy nods. "Sounds good! See ya at lunch, Jonesy!" Darcy says, waving goodbye to me.

At lunch, we met up again, and went to her locker. "So, Darcy, what exactly do you want help with?" I ask. "Shut up! I'm not your client!" Darcy says jokingly. "Well, how am I supposed to know how to help you if you don't tell me what you need help with?" I ask. "I guess so..." Darcy says. "So, what do you need help with?" I ask again. "Everything." Darcy sighs as she opens her locker and a big pile of paper falls out. "Shall we start with all this paper?" I ask as she picks up the paper. We sat down on the floor together and spent about 20 minutes sorting out her papers into "things that may be of importance" and "rubbish-not needed anymore". Most of it went into the "no longer needed" pile, but there were a few sheets that looked important to both me and Darcy. "Ok, now that's done, you can start collecting all this rubbish and put it in the bin with all this paper." I instruct Darcy while I find a spot in her locker to put the important papers. "Maybe you need a folder for all your paper. If you had one, all your papers would go in there and you would never have to worry about losing them." I suggest as I place her papers inside her laptop case. "Actually, Jonesy, that sounds like a great idea. Maybe we could walk to the shops after school today and get one." Darcy replies, a smile on her face as she scoops up all the rubbish from her locker and places it into the bin. "Good idea, Darcy. Now, let's sort your books." I say, kissing her cheek when she gets back from the bin. "How do you sort all your books?" Darcy asks me. "I sort my books according to subject. My English books go together, my Music books go together, my History books go together and my French books go together." I say with a smile. "Where do you put your school bag and your pencil case and your laptop, then? Do they have a place to go?" Darcy asks, looking slightly confused. "Well, all my school books go in the top section of my locker, and my bag, laptop, pencil case and other non-subject related items go in the bottom half." I explain, as Darcy starts to sort out her books based on subject. "Oh, that makes way more sense now." she says, putting her Biology books in a pile. "You don't have books for Outdoor Education or Food Preparation Studies, do you?" I asked, looking at her piles of books currently only consisting of her Biology books and English books. "I have one book for Food!" Darcy says as she pulls out a notebook and places that next to her English books. Her laptop and pencil case sit in the bottom of her locker with her school bag and her sneakers. "Your locker looks so much better now, Darcy." I say as we step back to admire her now clean and neat locker. "It wouldn't be this way without you." Darcy replies, stepping closer to me and smothering me with kisses all over my face and neck. "Darcyyyyyy! Stop it!" I exclaim in mock annoyance. "Oh, come on, you like it, you're blushing." Darcy says, smirking at me. "I'm looking forward to walking to the shops with you after school." I tell her, holding her hand as she uses the other hand to close her locker. "Me too." she says, then she turns closer towards me and says, "Can I kiss you on the lips?". "Of course! We're girlfriends!" I reply, and we kiss.
