Work Text:
He was sick.
He was vile and he is a name with a rotting body. A disease in all that he is.
Perhaps he needed to be cleansed; for his sins and the infection that is him. A shower would be nice, or washing his hands a few too many times. Scraping the foreign skin from his body until it's gone or a boiling bath to kill the germs would be favorable too.
There's infection around him and he is terrified.
He's having a panic attack, Wilbur knows. It's just a bug, he knows. But does that truly stop him from his irrational actions?
The man's embarrassed to admit he's found himself sobbing violently in his little brother's empty room, petrified to even dare to close his eyes for a second for fear of the images his brain will conjure. Despite his irrational state of mind, he can at least recognize he's being silly.
It's pathetic to think that a simple gnat could cause this much of an outburst. Unable to sleep and avoiding his room, really?
Wilbur devised a plan for when his corpse body decides to stop sobbing. He tries to comfort himself by thinking of showers and cleaning the bed sheets once Ranboo wakes up. That way, he will finally be able to sleep and stop thinking about the bug in his bed, multiplying, infecting everything like him, touching every little thing he owns and making him likely to be sick. He feels itchy on his back and his hair and his face and his arms. He feels a crawling sensation on his arm and feverishly smacks it in fear of a bug as his breathing picks up again, causing more hot tears and snot to dribble down his chin.
The male figures he looks like a mess right now, rocking and making himself as small as possible on his brother's bed. Mucus smeared across his face and everywhere, irritating him by the sheer feeling of it. His eyes felt red and puffy, and he could feel crust in the corners of his eyes where tears were drying, furthermore agitating him.
If this kept up, he might have a sensory overload too, he could feel a headache coming on (or was that because he was sick with something dangerous or he was dehydrated?)
Wilbur only had to wait 2 and a half hours for Ranboo to wake up. Then, the man could shower till he felt clean again, scrubbing layers of his skin away if it meant bring clean again and cleaning his bedsheets till he deemed it no longer infected and it was once again a safe place.
His singular safe place was no longer safe and he felt ill- no wait he didnt- he hopes he doesnt because then he might get really sick and fuck that gnat didn't was carrying anything right? Holy fucking shit, what if he had a really horrible disease and didn't know?
Wilbur needs to be clean again. 'A few more hours' he tries to tell himself, like it's his savior as a mantra of dirty, dirty, dirty chants in his mind.
Time feels slow and all he wants is to be okay again. He needs to wash all the sickness away and be pure again. He needs the maggots to stop eating his body and the roaches to stop loving his body.
Wilbur wants to get up and grab the blanket from across the bed but he fears Tommy could have gotten sick and used it or some way it was impure, but he's too tired of repeating the tiring process of using his phone flashlight to check for bugs and deem it "safe.
He's so cold and he just wants to sleep and he wants to take a shower and he wants Ranboo to wake up and he wants to be clean.
The brit recognizes that he wants a lot of things in life but he can't even function properly without his sudden priority washes.
Wilbur never was religious but he's praying to any God there that he isn't sick and won't die. He's read enough stories of people dying from a simple bug bite to know what could happen. They say you can ever be too cautious but he gets to differ with his overwhelming paranoia.
He's shaking and cold and oh, so scared but he'll wait. He'll cling on to the thoughts of his baptism like ideas and wait. It's only a couple of hours after all, the man can wait that long, he hopes (if the illness doesn't kill him first)
'I can wait a little more,' he tries so desperately to convince himself. 'I'll be fine', he tries so hard to tell himself. But Ranboo isn't waking up any time soon- and he's begging for his sickness to be cleansed. (Impurities washed away like dirt or perhaps the soot after a fire.)
