Chapter Text
Before Geonouvelle built its first house, before the Bourgeois Kingdom even placed its first stone, even before the first kingdom was made, there was the Order of the Nineteen Miracles. These creatures are bound with powers beyond our imagination, from creating new lands, to destroying old ones, giving blessings and protections, these 19 beings were mighty, but generous; so generous in fact, that they were willing to grant any wish to whoever gathers a fragment of specific items. The items are never the same: one wish involved gathering specific meals for each of them and the next wish involved gems form lands near and far. There are no limits of what kinds of wishers you could do, but there was one catch:
The wish maker always needs to know who they are and what they wish, for the wish will shine and proper as the soul of the wish maker.
The Order would know the heart and soul of the wish maker. They would not only give the pure and sincere additional boons for their good nature, but they would also bend the wished of the wicked and greedy. For those reasons, everyone who made a wish by the Nineteen Miracles would say that they’re either benevolent angels, by those who heart shined like the white moon, or demonic tricksters, to those whose souls were as black as tar. This was the unfortunate case for the once Great Duke of House Agreste.
Gabriel was once a respected and honorable trader in the fabric business. He was loved by all on how he would turn the simplest of fabrics into an outstanding dresses and suits for the kings and queens form all the world. On his life he found fame, fortune and, unexpectedly, romance. A fair princess from the Graham de Vanily kingdom. They fell in love with each other and soon, they wed and found a steady home in the Bourgeois Kingdom. When the time came for them to attempt to conceive an heir, the went to a state of despair when they learned that his wife was sterile.
In desperation, he traveled around the world to find the grotto with the special tributes, where the Order of the Nineteen Miracles reside to ask a wish from them. The magical beings revealed a dark secret to him: the daughter of the king already made a wish for heirs at the cost of both of his offspring being sterile. Gabriel was fitted with rage demanded that they wished that his wife would bear his child, unbeknownst to him that he was going to repeat the same cycle that the king had suffered.
The wish came true, and Gabriel was blessed by a healthy baby boy, but as the child grew, his and his wife’s health began to deteriorate. I wasn’t until he saw his beloved on her deathbed that he realized the price of the wish: the two of them raised their child with their love, energy, and life; Adrien was imbued with a spell that was unknowingly draining the life source of his parents and it won’t stop until either Gabriel feared that he’ll lose the person he loves dearly and thought that if he was gone, they won’t have to lose their lives. He was going to take his life in the middle of the night. What he didn’t know was that his wife’s Councilor overheard him and passed the message to his wife. So, when night came, Gabriel not only found a child on his bed, but also his wife who was holding a sleeping Adrien next to her heart.
“The more love we give him, the more life he feeds, and how would a mother hate her own child?” The wife said to him. “Promise me you’ll find a way to reverse this. I love you both.”
Ever since that morning, the Duchess of House Agreste disappeared. Gabriel and his Councilor were to raise the child without him knowing his mother’s whereabouts. The father was forced to distant himself from his own son so that he could by himself time to find a solution for this curse.
He was becoming desperate; and was ready to make a deal.
