Work Text:
“As you command Lord Megatron!” The duo of Vehicons hurried off the moment Megatron finished giving them their orders. His weight shifted uncomfortably as he waited for everything to be set into motion by Soundwave who was dutifully working away at his console. The Kliks seemed to pass by at a crawl until at last Soundwave gave him the all clear to let him know that things were going according to plan and no longer required his supervision.
Megatron nodded once to his spymaster before following the pull of his spark toward its mate. He moved swiftly down the hallways of the Nemesis, his determination to reach his destination forcing all others to make way for him if they hadn’t already intended to. He paid the Vehicon he shoved out of the way no mind as at last he stood before the entrance into the one place he had been fighting the urge to visit ever since he was called to oversee operations on the command deck.
He paused at the doorway to simply observe for a Klik, content to watch now that he could be reassured in the bond he long thought gone with his most cherished. Even though he now knew that Orion Pax yet lived, it was still startling to see his beloved piloting the frame Megatron had long come to associate with his greatest foe. If he were not focused on what he was seeing, he quite likely would have activated his combat protocols on instinct. However as it was, he could at last take a moment to appreciate the frame his mate occupied.
“You are quite dutiful in your work my little archivist” Wrapping his arms around Orion’s waist, Megatron rested his chin on his mate’s shoulder, relishing in the close contact after countless vorns apart. His mate was taller now, and while part of Megatron missed being able to rest his helm atop Orion’s, he did not dislike this new position. It would merely take time to adjust to.
Within moments Orion’s field washed over him, comforting and warm in a familiar manner that had Megatron swiftly relaxing to a degree he had not since the beginning of the war. He unknowingly released a vent he had not been aware he had been holding as he allowed his field to reach out and mingle alongside Orion’s. It was like being welcomed home after a long cycle of work, and it was something he cherished dearly.
“The sooner I have these entries decoded, the sooner we can end this war” Orion leaned back into Megatron’s embrace, turning his helm just enough to smile up at him. Megatron made a soft sound of agreement as he lifted one servo to run his digits along Orion’s faceplates, or more specifically, the scars that were scattered across them. His mate’s face was still something Megatron had to reboot his optics at least once to properly take in and separate from that of his foe. There were so many small marks that he had long filed away under belonging to one particular Prime, but if he ignored them he could clearly see the expressive face of his lover beneath them.
Despite that, he couldn’t help the way his gaze lingered on one particular scar around Orion’s left optic. He recalled the cycle he put that scar upon the frame of his foe. At the time he had taken pride in his accomplishment upon knowing the mark was deep enough to remain as a constant reminder of his wrath. Now though…
“If you would like, we can have your plating polished and your paint redone” The offer flowed from his vocalizer before he could even consider what he was saying in any significant detail. Orion stilled for a moment but then smiled, lifting Megatron’s servo to press gentle kisses to his digits. His spark blazed in his chassis, his smile growing more and more genuine as he enjoyed the reassurance of his mate and the love that flowed freely between them.
“I would love that Megatronus. I do not wish to be covered in these marks if there is a way to remove them. They are reminders of pain that is behind us” Escaping from his embrace, Orion turned around and faced him properly before reaching up to pull Megatron down into a passionate kiss. Servos that had once been used to raise a blade against him instead wrapped around his neck near desperately, clinging to him like a lifeline. Small claws that had left many a scar across his outer plating played with wiring delicately, almost reverently as his and Orion’s derma met.
Orion was near savage with how hotly he demanded more affection, his force unrelenting as his glossa demanded entrance. Megatron, not usually one to offer any ground, for once obliged and allowed his Conjunx to have dominance in their dance. The world around them faded even more than it had in Megatron’s awareness as he focused entirely on the familiarity and passion he thought lost in the tunnels so long ago.
For far too long they had been denied. Amidst the storm of distaste Megatron held for his foe, a small part of him was grateful that Optimus was not nearly as wrathful as Orion was. Based on what his beloved told him, Orion had used a degree of force to be heard. Knowing his little archivist, he was sure a degree of pain for the Prime was involved in that attempt at exchanging information. So far Optimus had only expressed his will once, and in an instance Megatron could not even fully blame him for.
Being subject to a spark merge against one’s own will was traumatic at best and abominable at worst. Optimus had no say in the matter, and thus while highly agitating as it kept him and Orion from reaffirming their bond in full, he could not hold it against the Prime for fighting back. Any reasonable mech would do the same.
“Megatronus… I missed you so much my dear Champion” Finally forced apart by a need to vent and a desire to speak, Orion kept his arms around Megatron and rested his helm against his shoulder, nuzzling against his neck. Megatron held Orion as close as he could, his servos gripping the rounded hips that were so new for his mate but fit him excellently. His digits traced along the rims of Orion’s sculpted hips as he hummed softly, his frame relaxing even more as teasing fangs graced sensitive wires along his jaw.
Codes needed to part his chassis and allow his spark to seek out its other half came to the forefront of his mind, and while he could feel Orion practically thrumming with excitement at the prospect through their bond, he abstained. He never wanted to see Orion in the same agony he witnessed during their first attempt not long after his little archivist boarded the Nemesis. Optimus would not tolerate such a union, and as much as Megatron wished he could stop the Prime from causing his Conjunx any harm, while the Matrix still rested in Orion’s chassis, wrapping around him like a jealous drake, there was nothing he could do.
“I am here now, my love. I will not leave you, not so long as my spark still blazes” Longing filled every ion of his being, but Megatron shoved those feelings aside. For Orion’s sake, he could wait. There would be time when they found a way to keep Optimus out of the mix, for now they could enjoy what they had.
Orion’s face grew pinched as he pulled away for a moment, his servos instinctively coming to rest on his chassis above his spark chamber. Megatron scowled as he ran a simple scan over his Conjunx, trying to find the source of Orion’s pain even though he already knew where it was coming from. His foe was sending a warning, ensuring that they would not attempt to merge again. A bitter part of Megatron wished the Prime had a physical form once more if only so that he could curse Optimus to the pits and back for serving as an obstacle between his and Orion’s reunion.
“Let me have this Optimus. I will not cross that line and you know it” Orion hissed as he pulled his servos away and fell back into Megatron’s waiting arms. Forcing his scowl to fade, Megatron leaned down to pepper Orion’s face with loving kisses to ease the pain in the only way he knew how even as he flooded their bond with protectiveness and care. He could not stop his foe from making himself known, but he could be there for the one he held most dear.
“If I could, I would pull that relic from your chassis and destroy it by casting it into the core of a star” Orion’s field held him comfortingly, a reciprocation of his affection as they both tried to ease millennia of pain in the other. It did not take long for their derma to meet again, this time with less passionate desire to join and more so with intent to heal and wash old wounds away. As again clawed digits worked across protoform from where Megatron allowed his plating to shift away, his own servos mapped out Orion’s frame, memorizing him through touch alone.
“I know you would, Megatronus. I know” The soothing baritone voice of his mate echoed as Orion shifted to press a kiss against his audial. It was a welcome relief from the wrath he hadn’t even known was swelling within his very essence, threatening to make itself known. With skill only acquired through countless trials endured together, Orion had him easing once more with soft poems Megatron had all but forgotten amidst the fires of war.
They were together now. That was what mattered. With time and with Orion by his side, they would find a way to end the war and reign the Prime’s foolish Autobots in. Perhaps they could even contrive some method to give Optimus freedom as well. At least then he and Orion could live in peace without the constant threat of his foe hanging over their helms. It was all but wistful thinking at present, but he clung to those ideas even as Orion lulled him into a partially restful position where all he had the ability to focus on was his mate.
