Work Text:
Iris rubbed the sun cream across Dawn’s nose and she giggled.
She’d helped Wally with this, a long time ago. Her Wally burnt so easily, and Barry hadn’t been much better. Even if the Twins took after her more, Iris wasn’t taking any chances.
Dawn had her father’s eyes though. Bright blue and gleaming with joy. Don had Barry’s freckles, almost like someone had splattered paint across his nose and cheeks. They both had his love of learning, and Iris was sure the inquisitiveness came from them both.
The stubbornness probably did too.
She missed home. She missed Wally. She’d seen him in the history books now, she was so proud of everything he’d achieve, but she did wish she could be there to see it and to tell him.
She missed Barry. There had been so many times he’d run and she hadn’t known if he was coming back. But it still didn’t feel real, knowing he was gone.
Not gone entirely. She could see so much of him in the Twins.
Dawn rushed off to play with her brother.
“You’d love them,” Iris said, wishing he could hear. That she could have at least told him. “They’re perfect, Barry.”
For a moment, Iris could have sworn she felt his arms around her.
