Summary
Robin and Finney were sworn best friends. Everywhere they went they were 'Robin and Finney' or 'Finney and Robin'. But it became clear to Finney that was no longer after Robin blew him off the summer after middle school ended. The 2 parted ways and went to different schools, or that was the case until Finney transferred and was alerted or Robin's presence.. But why should he care? He has new friends now, and it appears Robin does too. ...but it wouldnt hurt to rekindle an old flame, would it?

And so he did, every noon Finney would make his way to their designated area and wait for Robin on the swing set, but he didn't come. Day after day, noon till night Finney would be there, waiting. And as the summer went on, Finney didn’t lose hope, but instead made excuses for Robin. “No Gwen, I'm sure he’s just busy! He wouldn’t purposely stand me up.” He tried telling himself that, he really tried. But when the summer began its closure and Finney was once again left swinging alone, realization had finally sunk in. Robin wasn’t coming, and he never intended to.

“Finney!” A voice spoke up, Pulling Finney out of his thoughts. He lifted his head up groggily to see who’d disturbed his daydream, and when his eyes met Billy’s, a wide grin spread on his face. His daydream could wait.“Billy!” Finney smiled, watching the boy fumble to park his bike.
“It’s been a while since i've seen you out here, you're normally on your way too.. uh.. what's his name’s place?”
“Robin’s.” Gwen spat out bitterly, causing Billy to tilt his head slightly.
“Uh.. yeah him.” He chuckled nervously.
“Ah well, things changed I guess.” Finney shrugged, his eyes falling to the floor.
“You can always come to mine, you know, It's been a while since I’ve had you over, my ma misses you.” Billy teases, unparking his bike, looking left and right before hopping on.
“Yeah, That’d be nice. Thank you Billy.” Finney smiled, waving goodbye to the paperboy as he returned to his daily route.

“Honestly? Likely.” Finney grinned, looking up at Billy, searching his eyes for dishonesty. He sighed loudly. “I trust you, Billy. But you have to promise to stick with me!” Billy hums.

Robin Arellano was here. In this school, he’d made a name for himself.. and a bad one at that. Finney blinked in disappointment, and a little disbelief, what happened to his Robin? The Robin who promised to always protect Finney? The Robin to always be there for Finney?

Alongside that - teachers have been faffing over him as he’s now been labelled the ‘new school loner’. If he had a nickel for everytime a teacher tried to recruit him to their club, he would have lost count of his nickels a long time ago.

but there was nothing. Finney could have sworn he saw a tinge of sadness in the boy's expression, but it quickly changed to a neutral expression as he glanced towards Griffin.“I think they will have peanuts in the lunch tomorrow. Be careful, yeah?” Vance blurted out awkwardly. Finney's eyebrows shot up so far it began to hurt, he glanced towards Billy who seemed equally as perplexed. Griffin just smiled slightly and nodded at the larger boy, who patted his shoulder as he shuffled by. The 3 boys watched as Vance disappeared before immediately erupting into questions.
