Work Text:

"Three..." Four sighed, sniffling a little bit. "You know, you don't have to feed me. I'm 24, not 2. I can lift a spoon."

"One less thing for you to do," Three said, stirring Four's soup around again. "You're sick and you need your rest."

"But I don't---"

"Have you even eaten anything today?" Three asked. An awkward silence ensued, as Four made a final attempt to protest.

"No," Four admitted, causing Three to roll his eyes.

"You know damn well what happened the last time you didn't eat. Almost fucking died," Three muttered, gently spooning the soup into Four's mouth, resisting the urge to smack him upside the head.

"It's because I overclocked, smart guy," Four shot back, trying to make it sound as if Three was being overprotective. "I'm a grown-ass man. I can take care of myself. I'm not your dog."

"Eggdog is my child," Three snapped. "And I'm only doing this because I love you, you single-celled organism."

Four stuttered a bit as Three glared at him. Four looked down, his face turning red. Three shook his head and sighed.

"Look, I'm sorry I had to bring up 'the incident'." Three put Four's spoon down, shifting himself to face Four. "I just want you to be safe. I don't want something like that to happen to you again."

"It wasn't going to happen again. You need to stop worrying about me."

Three's eyes glittered with tears, and he shook his head. He took Four's hand in his, gently squeezing it.

"I love you too much to let you go through that again."
