Eddie starts working for and eventually becomes a part owner of a cafe, turning it into an LGBTQ+ cafe as a safe space without alcohol after realising while still in school that some of his lost lambs need that.
Steve gravitates to it after his first visit because Eddie still prefers a dark metalhead aesthetic which definitely is used when decorating the cafe. In the interest of not scaring customers away he keeps the music quiet and keeps low lighting. The pride flags around the cafe are blended in between the decorations and mostly dark furniture and walls, instead of emphasising the bright colours as other LGBTQ+ cafes often did. This makes it the best cafe Steve's been into for nothing to set off a migraine or causing eye strain that he's prone to after a few concussions.
Or it was until he decides to visit an open mic night after a difficult week and has to sneak out after only a short time cause the volume is reasonably louder along with brighter spotlights for the people performing. Eddie notices all his regulars and sees Steve attempting to relax before wincing in pain and leaving so he follows him out to check if he's okay.
