Work Text:
Knowledge and observation; That's what elves actually valued, no matter their illusioned cities, and none of them were impressed by what their recent observations indicated. Something new was bleeding into their world due to something humans were doing.
The Sinclair's volunteered to move to the town that seemed to have the most bleeding into it, just in case whatever was happening actually got bad enough for humans to realise it. Other elves would try to learn what was causing this either by joining the human government, or using diplomatic communications between the elves and human ruling bodies.
Getting directly involved was never part of the plan, especially with their children involved, even if they'd been viewed as an advantage for observation, giving a better view of what was occurring over different age ranges.
Lucas and Erica didn't care for that plan after their friends got involved, any more than they had originally wanted to go to school with the humans. They made their friends and weren't going to abandon them now.
Their parents just wished their kids would actually speak up about it while things were happening. As elves even the kids were much more durable but adults could protect everyone more effectively. After meeting Steve they told him to come for them if their children's lives might be in danger and learnt how little time there could be to do that as well as how the town's phones were getting listened in on.
As soon as they can get in touch with the diplomatic elves there would be swift lectures and lessons given on privacy and children's protection that the humans would have to listen to.
