Chapter Text
Steve Harrington.
Jock, popular, arrogant, annoying, mouthy, idiotic, ignorant, beautiful asshole.
Eddie hated him. Hated him so much it consumed him, it was all he thought about, ever, at all.
During biology when he got bored, during PE when sweat was dripping down his neck and onto his curls.
At home, preparing a campaign.
Even at the movies watching Friday The 13TH for the first time.
It was eating him alive.
So naturally, when some stupid teenager left a ghostface mask in the boys locker room on the morning after halloween, Eddie got some ideas.
At first, his mission was just to aggravate his peers, scare them into being partially acceptable people.
But then, when his car was wrecked by Jason goddamn Carver and his team of football players on a Friday night just because Eddie wouldn’t sell him weed while he was under a heavy amount of the influence..
He put a moth to a flame.
And then came many, many more moths, and many, many more flames.
And now, well now, he had one goal and
one
goal
only.
One last thing on the list before he can put this all behind him, and move on.
Kill Steve Harrington.
••••
Eddie didn’t really know how he was going to get into Tina’s invitation only Halloween party, but he had a pretty good guess that if he showed up with enough free weed, they’d let him.
God, the whole town was going to be devastated when they hear that King Steve Harrington is dead. Dead!
He might’ve felt a little bad for his girlfriend, Nancy, but she’d be better off on her own anyways, he was sure of it.
••••
It was a little past ten thirty when Eddie knocked on the door of Tina’s house, bag of drugs in hand.
The door opened to reveal a very drunk looking cheerleader.
“Hey! Come on in!” She shouted, way too loudly than necessary, he might add.
Eddie nodded, walking in and shoving the bag of weed into the hands of the first jock he saw.
“Thank you Jesus!” The idiot said, grabbing Eddie’s hand and placing it on his heart.
Eddie swiped his hand back, scoffing and rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, yeah.”
He walked around for quite a long time, no sign of Steve.
And after walking in on one too many inappropriate exchanges, he wanted to kill the guy about ten times more than he originally did.
Eddie stepped outside, breathing in his first bit of fresh air after inhaling the incessant smell of drugs and alcohol for the past twenty minutes.
The minute he turned his head to the side, he saw Steve, beer cup in hand, swaying on his feet.
Eddie smirked to himself, inching closer to the boy, slipping his mask on.
The little panting breaths that were coming out of Steve’s mouth came to a halt when he felt Eddie’s hand on his shoulder.
The younger boy turned around slowly, taking the sight of Eddie in.
“Who’r you?” He slurred, eyes big and glossy, lips pink and plush.
God he was pretty.
No! Eddie, focus.
“Well hello there gorgeous.”
Damn it.
“Hi!” Steve giggled out, hands flying to grab onto Eddie’s shoulders for stability.
“What a silly costume!” Steve muttered, head lolling to one side a bit.
Eddie wondered what it would look like on a stick.
Or a white, soft, fluffy pillow.
He slowly, pulled out his knife from out of his back pocket, hand holding onto Steve’s hip so he wouldn’t topple over before it was necessary.
“Mmm.” Steve whined, head falling onto the section between Eddie’s shoulder and neck.
Eddie hesitated ever so slightly.
Steve broke out into a fit of giggles, bottom lip jutting out a bit.
“Please don’t kill me Mr. Ghostface, I wanna be in the sequel!”
Eddie’s heart stuttered in his chest, knife slipping out of his hand.
Steve was..
Was..
So vulnerable, so beautiful, so sweet.
His eyes shining under the fluorescent light of the moon.
Eddie could save him.
Oh shit.
Steve, seemingly not able to control his laughter any longer, started laughing so hard he had to clutch at his stomach.
Little, breathy giggles leaving his pretty mouth.
Now Eddie wanted to die.
Eddie readjusted their positions slowly, hand wrapping more firmly around Steve’s waist, the other hand under his toned legs.
He lifted him up bridal style, surprised by the lack of difficulty he experienced while doing so.
“Woah!” Steve breathed, frown growing on his face as he was carried over to Eddie’s van.
“What is it sweetheart?” Eddie murmured.
“Your face! I want to see your face.” He whined.
Eddie couldn’t help but smile behind the mask, peeling it off slowly.
Steve smiled when he saw Eddie’s face, passing out directly after.
Eddie chuckled, pushing a stray piece of hair behind Steve’s ear as he deposited him in the back seat of his van.
He was going to save him.
