Chishiya closed the door to his room with a sigh. The latest executive meeting was… Annoying. It wasn't anything unusual, though. The normal Niragi being pissy, Hatter being drunk, and not much being accomplished except for a few more ideas thrown out there for Hatter to think about them for a few seconds and then shut them down. The usual.
But for a reason that's entirely his fault, it was more tiring than the rest. Because Chishiya had stayed up all the prior night. Not his smartest move but it was a bad habit he gained from college that he had yet to fully drop.
Chishiya made his way to his bedroom, fully ready to just pass out right there. It was nearly twelve in the morning and he didn't want a repeat of today.
But he was met with the lovely sight of kuina on his bed with some book he probably had on his desk. Chishiya blinked and thought about quietly sneaking away to an empty room but Kuina lifted her head from the book and grinned.
“Took you long enough,” Kuina said as she switched the fake cigarette to the other side of her mouth. “Hello to you too…” Chishiya muttered as he closed the door to his bedroom.
Kuina’s smile fell and furrowed her brows as she looked at his face. Chishiya guessed she saw the quite obvious bags under his eyes.
“You look like shit,” Kuina’s brows furrowed even more in concern, her words were rude but her tone was worried. Chishiya huffed, slightly annoyed but smiled and nodded, knowing it was true.
Chishishiya shoved his hands into his pockets walked over to the non-occupied side of the bed and flopped face-first into it.
Kuina snorted, then giggled, then fell into a laughing fit. Chishiya found himself chuckling alongside her, her laugh was contagious. He doesn't think he could ever get tired of hearing it.
Once she finally stopped laughing, she went quiet. In thought, maybe? Or she could have just zoned out. Chishiya thought as he rolled onto his back to get a view of her face.
“Were you staring at my ass?” Chishiya teased, adding a raised brow and a tired smile to the remark. Kuina snorted, “Nothing to stare at,” Kuina looked unimpressed, but the way her left eye twitched slightly showed she was one second away from going into another laughing fit.
“You’d stare even if there was nothing.” Chishiya tilted his head to the side, his half-tired half-smug smile didn't leave. Kuina smirked, “Maybe,” she closed the book in her hands and slid it back onto his desk. “So, why do you look like you're one second from passing out?” Kuina asked, resting her hands on the bed and leaning back a bit.
“Probably because I am,” Chishiya mumbled before yawning. “Tiring executive meeting plus no sleep don't mix very well.” He answered, shifting to get in a more comfortable position. Kuina nodded, giving him a sympathetic look.
“Why are you in my room this late?” Chishiya inquired. “was bored, plus I wanted to bother you a bit,” Kuina replied, shrugging. Chishiya hummed.
Not too long ago, Kuina had begun coming to his room, be it in the late night, early morning, or mid-day, if she was bored she would come by, chat with him for a bit then leave. Sometimes, when she was too lazy to leave, he’d lend her his couch to sleep on.
Chishiya would have kicked out anyone else who came into his room uninvited, but this was kuina. His “partner in crime,” she had called him hers so he supposed that made her his?
He didn't mind his Partner in crime strolling by when she was bored. Hell, He found himself looking forward to her dropping by. wasn't that frightening?
Kuina had begun to talk, about what? He wasn't quite sure, she was hopping from one subject to the next but he had somewhat of an idea, and he didn't mind, Her voice was nice- Calming, even.
Chishiya let his eyes droop down, let his thoughts slow, and simply focused on Kuina’s voice.
Kuina curled one of her dreads between her fingers as she rambled about some newbie at the beach she disliked. “His hair looks even dryer than yours-” Kuina paused, her ramblings being cut off by a soft sound. The light sound of snoring.
Kuina looked over at Chishiya and was greeted by the lovely sight of him sleeping. He looked… peaceful, somehow. Chishiya was always “relaxed” (if you’d call his act that), but this, the way his lips slightly parted, his eyes let go of that smug look to be replaced with.. Tranquil.
Kuina watched as his chest rose and fell, in, one, two, three, four, out, one, two, three, four, repeat.
It was almost…weird. Seeing him like this. But it was also…nice. Kuina didn't know how to describe it. It was weird seeing him like that but she also felt… Proud? Proud that Chishiya trusted her enough to let his guard down enough to sleep in her presence.
Kuina averted her gaze to the floor, suddenly feeling…. embarrassed.. That she had watched him sleep for god knows how long.
Kuina crossed her arms over her torso and felt heat rise to her cheeks.
She sighed. Gosh, what was this guy doing to her?
Kuina stood up and stretched, grimacing at the sound of a pop. It was maybe one AM, which was even more cheek-flushing. She had blabbered for like twenty-five minutes but had watched him sleep for the remaining thirty-five!
Kuina made her way as quietly as possible to the door, once she made it there, thankfully no creaky boards, she paused. Her eyes wandered back over towards Chishiya’s snoring form.
She smiled.
“G’night, shiya.”
