Daniel taps a cigarette from the pack and puts it to his lips and again, Armand can’t stop staring. The way the paper clings to his lower lip, the way his mouth closes around it when he lights it, sucking the air through it to spark the flame. Armand watches him inhale and hold the smoke in his lungs before letting it back out. He taps the cigarette against the ashtray.
He puts it back to his lips and Armand snatches it from him. Daniel swears. 'Give that back,' he thinks.
Armand puts the cigarette to his own lips, keenly aware of the moisture on the paper and how it came from Daniel’s mouth. How the cigarette was just against his lips. He inhales and the air is hot and ashy inside him. He exhales it out slowly.
Daniel stares openly at him, his heart still hammering but Daniel’s expression has gone soft, his lips parted. Armand has the sudden strange urge to press his mouth to Daniel’s.
