"You what?!"
Kel quickly rushed over to cover Basil's mouth, who removed the other's hand shortly after, giggling.
"D-Don't yell like that!" Kel's face burned red, embarrassed at Basil's yelling.
Basil let out another laugh, regaining his composure. "Okay, okay. Sorry..." He took another bite of his salad, before continuing his thoughts. "You?! Like?! Sunny?!" Basil leaned back before Kel could reach his hand up again.
"Shh!! What if Aubrey hears?" Basil rolled his eyes and nodded, admitting he was right. "You have to tell him!" Kel moved his head, which was previously looking down in embarrassment, upwards to stare at Basil, bewildered. "No chance! What if he doesn't wanna be friends after??"
Basil gave him a doubtful stare. "Sunny loves all his friends! No way he'd ever stop talking to you. I'm his best friend! Trust me." While Basil was probably right, Kel was stubborn.
"You don't know that-!"
"Yes I do, Kel."
"Even if he doesn't leave me, won't it be weird to be around me?"
"Eh.. I doubt it."
"Say someone confessed to you and you didn't like them back. You'd be uncomfortable, right?"
"Sunny isn't me."
"I- You know what I mean..."
Kel groaned and leaned back on his cafeteria seat. "How do I even confess to him though?" Basil's eyes light up mischievously.
Kel has a feeling this was bad idea.

Movies.
Sunny liked movies.
Kel asked him to the movies.
Sunny said yes.
Basil bought him a bunch of Hershey Kisses for this godawful plan.
After spending hours stressing about what to wear and buying snacks to sneak in, he finally arrived. Now all he had to do was wait for Sunny anddd he's already here. He kept him waiting. Cool.
"Sunny!" Kel called out, getting the former's attention. He waved, a smile tracing his lips. Kel had always loved his smile.
"I got candy." Sunny showed him a bag of candy once he got closer. "Mari bought a lot of it." Kel checked the bag, checking out the boxes. Skittles, Airheads, M&Ms and... gummy worms! His favorite! And his favorite brand, too!
"Oh, sweet! You got these!" Kel, picking up the box, smiled brightly. Sunny nodded. "I.. I know they're your favorite, s-so..." Sunny trailed off, looking to the side. Kel put the box back in the bag, zipping it closed.
"Thanks, bro! I brought some Hershey Kisses too. Now cmon! Let's see this movie!"
..Sunny remembered such a small detail. He really was a good listener. He had a real good memory too.
Kel tried to hide the fact that his face was turning red.
*
Sunny seemed captivated by the movie, mindlessly eating the candy without a thought. He hadn't seen a Captain Spaceboy movie since he was a kid. This one isn't that bad for a reboot. Sunny seems to like it, atleast.
...It's time to intiate plan Hershey Kisses.
Kel will never forgive Basil for this one.
Taking one out of the bag, Kel tapped Sunny on the shoulder, who suddenly turned, caught off-guard.
"Wanna kiss?"
"...What?"
Kel held up a hershey kiss, immediately chickening out. That could've gone better.
Sunny mouthed a surprised "Oh!", probably supposed to be to himself.
Kel couldn't see the pink that dusted Sunny's face in the darkness of the theater.
Maybe next time.
*
Kel called Basil afterwards.
"...You immediately chickened out."
"He didn't respond well!"
"You only gave him time to say a single word, Kel."
"Okay- you weren't there! Words speak volumes.. or however it goes."
"Ugh... you're a mess, Kel." Basil laughed playfully over the phone.

No stupid back-up plan this time. Kel would confess his love for Sunny today!
In English class!
...Yeah, not his proudest moment.
The pair sat in the carner on a carpet, a small bookshelf standing next to them and various motivational quote decals pinned to the wall. Tacky, but better than most classroom layouts.
Sunny sat next to him, gaze fixed onto his book. He seemed really focused.. is now really a good time?
...He doesn't wanna owe Basil a dollar though.
In a whisper, Kel spoke so that only Sunny could hear him.
Here goes nothing.
"..I love you."
Sunny looked at him in surprise, then at the open book on his lap.
"..Are you reading out loud?"
Kel looked at Sunny, then his book.
"H-Huh? Oh, aha.. yeah. Sorry." Kel chuckled between his words.
He definitely owes Basil a dollar.
*
"Listen. I freaked out, okay?"
"Oh my gosh, Kel... what am I gonna do with you?"
"Very rude, Basil."
"Ehe... you'll live.. i'm having trouble figuring out how to help you at this point."

Kel waited anxiously on the school rooftop.
He wasn't giving up that easy.
Today, he would tell Sunny how he felt.
No matter what.
Kel kept rereading the text he had sent Sunny and the latter's response, trying to decode the words "okay ill see you!". Or... something like that.
The sun was setting, leaving the sky an orange color. Orange was his favorite color.
Maybe it's good luck?
He hoped so.
"K..Kel?" A small voice spoke up from infront of him.
"Sunny! You're here!"
Kel could've sworn this had happened before. Probably just deja vu.
Sunny nodded.
"Um.. so, like..." Kel hesitated, fidgeting with his sleeve.
Sunny titled his head.
"I have to tell you something."
"..Mhm? What.. is it?"
"So, like- um... don't hate me for this."
Sunny gave a look of surprise.
"I... couldn't hate you Kel, I-"
"I love you."
Sunny stared at him for a second, processing his words.
"Yes- I- you- love-"
The blush pink on Sunny's cheeks complimented the orange glow the sun gave him.
"I... Kel.. you- you mean it?"
..Huh?
"I- y-yeah. Sorry, I know it's kind of out of nowhere..."
He tried to laugh to ease the tension, to no avail.
"...I..."
Kel held his breath, clenching his fists in anticipation.
Sunny wrapped his arms around Kel's shoulders.
"I love you too."
His voice was muffled by the other's shoulder, but Kel could hear him loud and clear.
What..?
What?!
Sunny loved him too?!
Absolutely estatic, Kel hugged him back with all his might, nearly carrying him. Sunny laughed, happier than he's sounded in awhile.
His laugh.. is beautiful.
He is beautiful.
This moment.. is beautiful.
Everything is beautiful...
Kel wouldn't trade this for the world.
