Shen Yuan thinks he is an lucky boy. For one, he has his own home. It doesn't have a roof but it's okay because children around his age doesn't even have a house for themselves. A room or two at best.
Secondly, he has a warm blanket! Having it is just so great because he doesn't want to freeze to death. He had seen some frozen, not awaking at the mornings and it was scary. Well, he is still terrified of closing his eyes and dying asleep so he"ll change it to is scary.
Today was his lucky day since he gound a jar! It can contain rain drops for future use! He was sooo delighted. His malnutrished body felt light as he returned to the ally he lived in.
Night comes early to Shen Yuan. Without fire or lights, after the sun goes down he starts his usual night routine.
He brushes his tangled hair with his hands, tries to make himself clean with out any water, makes himself comfortable as possible, then drifts into sleep.

It seems like it is Shen Yuan’s unlucky day because he’s woken up by a loud shouting. Rude! Can’t they see that he is trying to sleep? He briefly complains in his head.
It is a passing thought because a moment later he realizes that it is a child’s voice screaming for help.
What is happening?
He shuffles to get up. His clothes are soaked with cold rain which should have started while he was asleep. He feels the extra weight of his wet clothes while moving. Then carefully peaks to the corner of the street. The creaming has come closer to him. Are they coming here? What was he supposed to do?
He is barely a child! He would't be able to make whoever chasing the girl fuck off. So what was he gonna do!
The yelling was coming closer, and closer. Shen Yuan now thought they were coming to this street. He shivered as the wind felt suddenly cold.
Shen Yuan didn't wanted the girl to die. But it seems like nobody is going to help her. Then... he'll just snach her into the ally he was in!
Shen Yuan felt his hands go watery. The girl came closer, closer, closer and he could see her now! Just wait until he gets more closer and there she was! Shen Yuan pulled the girl to him with all might. Then they both were hitting the ground hard.
Ouch! Well that must've bruised. He took himself off the ground to find the girl opening her mouth again. No no! Yelling is bad!
"...!"
"Shh!"
Before he knew he had his hands on her mouth. Her wide eyes met his own and she seemed to calm down a little. Now that he had a chance to take a look at her properly, he noticed that she was older than him. Most likely in her early teens.
Her eyes were all teary and she was shaking so much but it would be alright in a minute.
"Are you alright?", he whispered.
"Ye, yes," she whisperer back.
Then her eyes went all large again. When he tries to say what's wrong he feel a sudden pain through his chest. The pain is burning. It is so hard to breathe though the pain. It's like he can't get enough air. Or a balloon that has a hole.
"No!"
The girl's voice is what he hears before his eyes feels too heavy for him. Honestly, my ears are right next to your mouth jiejie...
