Chapter Text
Homura took a deep breath, looking at the door that led to the job she’d gotten. She was a security guard in the daycare of the Fazbear Entertainment pizzaplex. She’d been briefed on her expected duties (mainly not letting people walk off with kids that they weren’t allowed to take) but she had not been briefed on what her…coworker would be like. Namely, the animatronic that ran the daycare. She sighed. She may or may not have some issues from the time loop surrounding what she knew. To be more specific, she’d started becoming anxious whenever she was in a new situation without all the information. She firmly pushed her worries away. She was just going to have to find out herself. She opened the door to the daycare.

Some might be wondering what led Homura here. The answer was that while in the time loop, she’d studied ahead quite a bit in order to not cause suspicion by suddenly losing her ‘prodigy’ status. She hadn’t expected this to cause its own issues of being way ahead, however. But she wasn’t complaining about being put in online classes. It gave her way more freedom to both have free time and hunt witches. But why would she get a job? The thing was that while her parents did send her money while they were on business trips, she wanted to have extra spending money, mostly to stock up for a rainy day. And to be able to occasionally indulge herself. She was still a teen girl, after all, she wanted to be able to have fun. And, well, Fazbear Entertainment was rather desperate for anyone to take the job, considering the murdered children and rumors about disappearing nighttime security guards.

Homura walked in and immediately had to stop herself from transforming on instinct as there was suddenly something in her face. Or rather, someone. She jumped back and realized that the blur had been an animatronic.
“Oh. My apologies, you startled me.”
“No need to apologize, no no no! I’m Sun, he/him!”
“Homura Akemi, she/her. I take it you are the daycare attendant animatronic they told me nothing about?”
“Yep! Me and Moon!”
“Moon?”
“They didn’t tell you? When the lights are on, I’m in charge of our body. When it gets dark enough, Moon is!”
“Ah. Well, It’s nice to meet you. I’m excited to meet Moon as well.” Homura internally winced, she was very clearly not excited. “Please don’t misunderstand me. I have nothing against you or Moon, I just…don’t emote much.” Sun, who’d drooped slightly, perked up again.
“No worries, no no no!” Homura glanced around the daycare, locating the security desk and starting to walk over.
“You can keep talking if you want, I just want to start settling in.”
“Oh, yes, you’re the security guard!”
“Mhm.” she turned on the computer and logged in. “I’m not worried about it being dangerous. This must be one of the safest security positions in the building. I doubt kidnappers show up that often. I bet you two get a lot of karens though.” Sun paused for a second before answering, though she didn’t know why.
“Karens?”
“Yeah. I suppose it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that you don’t know the term, depending on the ages you take care of.” She gave a brief explanation of what a karen was.
“Ah. Moon wants me to tell you that we do get quite a few of those. They said that I’m too nice to say it myself.”
“You two can- huh, neat.” Homura turned back to her computer, checking over the last couple things. “Anyway, I think I’m all set up. When do the kids usually start arriving?”
“Hm, probably about five to ten minutes after opening.” Homura checked the time.
“So since we’ve got ten minutes until opening we probably have at least fifteen minutes?”
“Yep!”
“Is there anything I can help you set up? I don’t see anyone else here planning to.” another weird pause.
“Nope! I always do everything right after the kids leave!”
“Well you’re certainly on top of things. Smart.”
“Thank you!”

Homura wasn’t sure if she regretted taking the job. She’d forgotten how loud kids could be. So she was very relieved when naptime rolled around and all the kids were sleeping quietly. She was poking around the computer, trying to see if there was anything to occupy her time when she heard quiet footsteps. She looked up from the computer.
“I assume you’re Moon?”
“Indeed I am. Moon, they/them.”
“Nice to meet you. I am so glad it’s naptime. I didn’t realize kids could be that loud.” she replied.
“Yes, I’m also relieved when it’s my turn. I may not be in control but I usually try to pay attention in order to help Sun.” Homura gave them a small smile.
“That’s nice of you. If I didn’t think I’d get in trouble I’d’ve put on my noise-cancelling headphones. Don’t know why I brought them, I probably just wasn’t thinking this morning.”
“Mm. You’re…different from most of the other staff.”
“How so? I doubt it’s the teenager thing, that’s a bit too obvious to comment on.”
“You’re right, that’s not what I was talking about. I was talking about the fact that even though it’s only your first day you treat us better than most of the other staff in the pizzaplex.”
“I’m sorry they treat you two like that.”
“Thank you for your sympathy. I suppose I’ll just be glad that you acknowledge that we’re two sentient people.” Homura held herself back from talking about how the coping method she’d created for her inhumanity was to say that even if she didn’t consider herself human she was sentient, she had feelings and opinions. She may not consider herself a person, but she’d gotten to the point where she could consider herself a person. She couldn’t say that to Sun or Moon without first explaining magical girls to the two of them.
“You’re welcome.”
