Work Text:

Being the fraternal twin brother of James Potter had it's perks and it's downhills. One perk was James' friends, the other Mauraders, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. On Monday and Wednesday nights, you, Remus, and Peter studied together for Potions and did homework. Tuesday and Thursday nights you, James, and Sirius hung out at the Quidditch pitch. Well, you and Sirius did. James practiced Quidditch with the rest of the Gryffindor team. Friday nights were your peace and quiet time. Saturday and Sunday nights were for Hogsmede trips and Gryffindor parties.

"Oi (Y/n)! Wait up!" A familiar voice called down the corridor. you turned to see remus jogging to catch up. the guilt of sunday's victory party came rushing back. Remus didn't look happy. "What the bloody hell did you do to Sirius?" he demanded. you opened your mouth to speak but closed it, feeling tears form in your (e/c) eyes. "You know what, forget it. James' brother or not, stay away from us." You let the tears drop as you saw the pity from James and Peter and the hurt in Sirius' grey eyes. You thought back to last night.

~flashback~

"Hey guys." you waved with a sheepish smile. James, Peter, and Remus smiled and went to get drinks. you turned to find Sirius, who saw a look of shock and hurt with his tongue down some girls throat. you turned back and ran up the stairs to your dorm room. you were already so out of it that you didn't think before you spoke.

"(Y/n)! Let me explain!" Sirius said. you turned him down.

~end flashback~

you silently sobbed to class. the usual seat taken by Sirius occupied a young ravenclaw boy. you never made it obvious that you loved the black haired, grey eyed boy that was basically your best friend.

the lakefront was quiet and calming. you spent a good 20 minutes throwing rocks into the lake to relieve your anger towards yourself.

"You stupid stupid boy! you just lost your friends and possibly brother because you couldn't keep your feelings in check!" you screamed in frustration. after the rock throwing and the screaming came the tears. you fell to your knees, sobbing into your hands.

"Did you know that crying doesn't solve your problems?" Sirius' voice asked through your sobs. you thought you were hearing things but decided to answer anyways.

"Did you know that crying relieves pent up emotion?" you sassed. you heard a chuckle and finally turned to the direction of the noise. Sirius, in all his wrinkle-clothed glory, stood causally with a loose tie, one hand in his pocket, and the other holding his jacket over his shoulder. his black curls fell into his face. "You-you're not supposed to be here." you sputter.

Sirius grinned and walked over to you, taking a seat. he draped his jacket around your shoulders and stared at you for a moment. "Remus just cares is all, love. you know it hurt him just as much as it hurt you to tell you to stay away."

you looked at him, your jaw slacked.

"Then why are you here?" you asked incredulously. Sirius' grin never wavered.

"You can tell a dog to stay, but until he's properly trained, he will go wherever he wants. and i wanted to go to you. i watched you come out here. and i followed you to apologize. i don't know what exactly set you off but i get the general idea. i'm sorry." you narrowed your eyes at the other boy.

"Liar. you know exactly what set me off." you said quietly. Sirius dropped his head, then raised it again. no smile this time, but his eyes still sparkled.

"As soon as i saw the look on your face i knew i did something." he said softly.

"It's okay if you don't feel the same, Sirius. i'll be okay." you said, turning away so he wouldn't see the tears. Sirius reached over, grabbing your chin gently and turning you to face him.

"Your brother doesn't like his best friend being into his brother. so he told me to sod off and find someone else to play with. so i did because James misunderstood my intentions and i couldn't quite explain falling in love with another boy to him much less his brother. But the moment i saw you, i knew it was a mistake. i'm sorry. i was a stupid git." you saw the sincere look in his eyes and took note of the watery smile playing across his lips.

"Well, if i have to stay away that means no more tuesdays and thursdays at the Quidditch pitch." you said.

"And no more Hogsmede trips or parties." Sirius added.

"No more friends." the words hung in the air.

"That's depressing." Sirius said.

"Well it's true. Because of James, the girls won't talk to me. now my best friends won't talk to me. oh no, what if they find out?" you gasped in realization of the situation.

"I'm sure they followed me."

"Remus must hate me" you mumbled.

"No, just the opposite."

"Then why did he do this?" you asked. Sirius' eyes flicked from your eyes to your lips, then back to your eyes. your heart picked up speed.

"A misunderstanding that i haven't yet corrected."

"Then are you going to correct it?" you said with more irritation than you intended.

"Yes." Sirius said as he placed his lips on yours. you savored the softness and the taste of pomegranate on his lips. your eyes fluttered closed as Sirius carefully rolled on top of you in the warm grass. after what felt like forever, he rolled away.

"How mad do you think he'll be?" you asked, referring to your brother.

"For once, love, i don't care." your lips twisted up into a smile.
