Prompt 4: Arbutus- A realisation that you are my one and only

Chapter 1: Lu Guang: Arbutus

Chapter Text

Lu Guang realised that you were his one and only the day you came into the shop drenched from head-to-toe from the rain outside with a bright smile on your face.

“What’s so great about being completely drenched?” He questioned, handing you a towel to dry yourself off with.

“What?”

“You’re smiling like an idiot right now despite being soaked.”

You only giggled in response to his statement.

Lu Guang didn’t quite understand why you were so happy until he saw it. A small, grey cat peeked from the inside of your jacket, looking completely dry from the pelting rain outside compared to you.

That’s when it clicked.

“I found him on my way home! Poor thing was abandoned in a cardboard box in the middle of the walkway, so I was going to take him home!” You explained. “That is, until the rain got too heavy to walk in.”

“So I came here instead of going home. Sorry if I’m being a bother—”

“No, you’re fine.”

Lu Guang knew it was rude to cut someone off like that, but he couldn’t help it. Especially when you were about to call yourself a bother in front of him (which, you would never towards him). You didn’t seem bothered by him cutting you off though, still having that goofy smile on your face.

“Hey, Lu Guang.” You began, slowly pulling the cat out from the inside of your jacket. “You like cats, don’t you? Do you want to hold—”

“Yes.”

He cut you off again. You laughed at his eagerness and gingerly handed the grey cat over to him.

Lu Guang’s expression visibly softened once the cat was in his arms, still nonchalant, but full of warmth and tenderness for the animal. His slight change in his manner would probably go unnoticed by many, but not to you. The change made your heart flutter, and it was the small changes that told you everything you needed to know about how he felt.

Feeling a surge of affection at the sight run through your brain, you move closer to them, scratching under the cat's chin and hearing it purr.

“We kind of look like a family.” You smile at him, Lu Guang gives a small smile back.

“I suppose we do.”

As the rain continued to hit the roof of the studio, you realised that you wanted more moments just like this with Lu Guang, your one and only. Unbeknownst to you, Lu Guang felt the exact same way towards you.

You both just wanted to stay in this moment forever.

Chapter 2: Cheng Xiaoshi: Orchid

Summary:

Prompt 24: Orchid- An innocent moment turning into something that's not

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The two of you sat together on the couch on a warm afternoon. You leaned against Cheng Xiaoshi as he scrolled through his phone, a comfortable silence settling between you both. It was nice to have moments like these every once in a while, especially with Cheng Xiaoshi and his golden retriever of a personality.

Your gaze shifts from his phone to his face. His messy, yet soft, black hair frames his face perfectly. His pretty black eyes focused on whatever content he was confusing on his phone. To you, he was absolutely breathtaking .

As you continue to stare at him, his focus lifts from his phone and turns to you, a small grin forming on his face.

“What’re you looking at?” He asks, shingling an arm over your shoulder and bringing you closer to him.

“You and your pretty face.” You answer, cuddling into his side. His scent engulfed your sense of smell, a mix of his deodorant and maybe even the faint smell of ink.

He blows a raspberry. “You’re way prettier.”

Cheng Xiaoshi pinches your cheek, and you swat his hand away.

“Shut up, let me indulge in your beauty for a little bit.”

“Oh yeah? And what if I don’t, hm?” He teases, moving his face closer to yours.

You grumble, unable to come up with a response back to him.

“Got you there, huh?” His hand moves from your shoulder to your side, poking at it gently and tickling you, causing you to squirm a bit in your seat. Of course, this does not go unnoticed by Cheng Xiaoshi, as he stares at you with a shit eating grin on his face.

“Don’t. You. Dare—“ Your warning is cut off by Cheng Xiaoshi pouncing on you, stacking your sides to tickle you more and pinning you to the couch.

“St-Stop..! Haha!” You laugh, squirming around more, but moving nowhere from his arms caging you in between him.

Cheng Xiaoshi laughs with you as he continues to tickle you for a while longer. He doesn’t stop until you repeatedly hit his shoulder.

He remains on top of you once he’s stopped, laughing some more while you try and catch your breath from the ‘torture’ you just endured.

Once you’ve finally calmed down, it was Cheng Xiaoshi’s turn to stare now. He doesn’t budge from his position, and neither do you.

“Can I kiss you?” He asks.

Suddenly feeling a bit shy under his staring gaze, you nod. He leans in and presses a long, soft kiss to your lips, leaving you wanting more when he finally pulls away to let the both of you breathe.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help kissing you and your pretty face~” He smiles teasingly, pinching your nose. This time, you don’t respond with a snide comment or gesture, your brain and body only wanting more of him.

“Can I have more then?” You ask, a blush creeping up on your cheeks.

“Of course you can.” He says, before diving in and capturing your lips into another kiss.

What starts from one kiss turns into another, and more and more until your lips are partially swollen and you’re unsure of just how many times you’ve kissed now.

Cheng Xiaoshi pulls away from your lips, and instead of catching his breath or uttering another comment, he pulls down the collar of your shirt a bit and starts attacking your neck and collarbone with more kisses and light nips every now and then.

You sigh shakily under him. Your hands travel up from your sides to his back and finally to his hair, tangling your fingers through the smooth, dark strands.

One of his hands slowly moves past the hem of your shirt, brushing against your skin as his hand slowly makes its way up.

“Please keep going…” You whisper breathlessly, and Cheng Xiaoshi listens. His other hand also now moves up your shirt. He placed his knee in between your thighs, making you gasp and tug on his hair lightly. He chuckles against your neck and bites down on it, wanting to hear more of you— more of your noises that are music to his ears— wanting to keep going until the both of you are fully satisfied.

“Ahem.”

The sudden sound of someone clearing their throat startles the two of you. You both snap your heads to the doorway to see the source of the sound.

“L-Lu Guang..!?” Cheng Xiaoshi stutters, his face reddening from being caught like this with you by his roommate.

“I would prefer if the two of you didn’t make out on the couch. Especially when I’m still home.”

You’re quick to push Cheng Xiaoshi off of you, your face is just as red as his from embarrassment.

“Y-Yes of course! I’m really sorry about this Lu Guang!!” You bow as an apology towards him. The white haired man only hums before turning around and making his way back upstairs.

You breathe out a sigh and sit back down next to Cheng Xiaoshi on the couch, covering your face with your hands. Neither of you say anything to each other, still very much embarrassed to face the other right now.

Well, that was a major turn off.

Notes:

i like this one better than the first chapter tbh

Chapter 3: Lu Guang: Yellow Rose

Summary:

Prompt 41: Yellow Rose- A happy thought that causes a smile

Notes:

this chapter is like a semi-continuation from the first lu guang chapter because it directly references it

also why are my lu guang chapters so short!!!!!! less than 300 words for what!!!!!

Chapter Text

Lu Guang was tidying up around the studio with Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling talking loudly in the background. He remained silent throughout their conversation, only speaking when either of the two wanted his opinion on something.

As he was cleaning, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulls it out to see a notification from you. A picture of the grey cat sleeping peacefully on the end of your bed. Lu Guang typed a short response back before putting his phone back into his pocket.

While he continues to clean, he thinks back to the day you had first taken the cat in. Being drenched in the rain and seeking refuge from it in the studio. He remembers the smile you had on your face despite the fact that you were completely soaked and cold.

He smiles, remembering how after you fully dried off, you both went to cuddle on the couch with the cat. How you looked like a small family bundled up together at the time, it made his heart throb.

“Oho? What are you smiling at, Lu Guang?”

Cheng Xiaoshi’s voice snaps him out of his daydream as the black haired man puts a hand on Lu Guang’s shoulder.

“None of your business.” Lu Guang brushes the other’s hand off of his shoulder to continue cleaning, and maybe to return to daydreaming about you.

Chapter 4: Lu Guang: Purple Lilac

Summary:

Prompt 29: Purple Lilac- Love at first sight

Notes:

this one might suck because i was kind of stuck on what to do for it. also im tired rn its almost 1:30am

Chapter Text

This wasn’t supposed to happen. Especially so easily. Especially after seeing some person next to him smile once he asks them to borrow a spare pen.

Of course Cheng Xiaoshi just had to have forgotten to bring a pen to an 11:30am lecture, and of course Lu Guang conveniently didn’t have any dared with him that day either. Meaning that he’d have to ask the person next to him to accommodate for his forgetful friend.

What he didn’t expect during that already disastrous morning was to develop a crush on the said person.

He didn’t mean for it to happen. Hell, he didn’t even know how it occurred in the first place.

When he turned to ask you for the spare pen, you turned to face him and smiled, shining as brightly as the warm sun out us ire (to him, at least). You didn’t hesitate in giving him the pen and you seemed happy to help him out.

Once you had turned away to resume paying attention, it was like Lu Guang’s brain had turned into putty. He couldn’t pay attention anymore, and it honestly annoyed him.

This didn’t get any better as the lecture went on, and by the time he had to return the pen to you.

He tapped your shoulder to get your attention and then handed the pen to you. He wanted to thank you, but his throat suddenly felt extremely dry when he went to speak, and he couldn’t croak out any words. Opting to just bow instead and leave with his friend (who was the reason this whole damn problem even started).

Lu Guang felt embarrassed, very embarrassed and red in the face. He hoped that Cheng Xiaoshi wouldn’t notice as they walked around the campus, but of fucking course he did.

“Lu Guang? Are you feeling alright? Your face is really red.” Cheng Xiaoshi points out. He reaches his hand up to put it against the other’s forehead. But Lu Guang bats the black haired man’s hand away before he can touch him.

“Perfectly fine, just overheating a bit.”

“But it’s not even that hot today…?”

Lu Guang stares him down.

“Whatever, get well soon then.” Cheng Xiaoshi responds, rolling his eyes at the others' reaction.

Lu Guang was certainly not going to get well anytime soon with this newfound crush of his.

Chapter Text

You wake up with a start, trying to catch your breath while your body fills with anxiety and worries. You had just woken up from a nightmare.

The alarm clock on your bedside table showed that it was still early, just past 4am to be exact. You figured you weren’t going to be able to get back to sleep for the rest of the night.

You grab your phone off of the nightstand and dial your boyfriend’s number. You weren’t sure if he’d even pick up considering the fact that it was literally four in the morning. But you still wanted to try. His calm and collected voice always managed to calm you down from moments like these.

Luckily, that was the next thing you heard after a little while of the phone ringing.

“Y/N…? Why are you calling me so early?”

Lu Guang’s groggy voice could be heard from the other side of the line, making some of your anxieties start to dissipate already.

“I’m sorry, did I wake you?”

“Yes.”

You laughed awkwardly, he was always so straight forward with things like this.

“Sorry… I had a nightmare and I just wanted to hear your voice. It calms me down.”

“Is that so?” Lu Guang’s voice became quieter, as to not wake the man sleeping in the bunk underneath him.

“I don’t really know what to say to comfort you though…”

“Just… tell me about the jobs you’ve been doing recently. Anything interesting?”

“I suppose, nothing too big though.”

“I don’t mind, tell me whatever you want about them.”

And that’s what Lu Guang proceeded to do for the next while. He occasionally stopped midway through talking to check if you were still awake after you’d fallen quiet for some time (which, you were).

Overtime, Lu Guang’s voice was starting to make you feel sleepy. Before you could close your eyes and fall asleep, you voiced out one of your worries that had meddled in your mind to him.

“Lu Guang.”

“Hm?”

“You’re not going to leave me, right?”

A faint smile appeared on his face.

“Of course not. I won’t ever leave you, I promise.”

It feels like a weight has been lifted off of your chest at his response. You smile, feeling a small amount of butterflies fly around in your stomach.

“Okay, just making sure. Thank you.”

“I think I can finally get to sleep now. Thanks for helping me, Lu Guang,”

“It’s no problem. Sleep well, I love you.”

“I love you too, goodnight.”

You hang up the call and put your phone back on the nightstand. Burying yourself into the pillows and blankets on your bed, you feel warm as you play Lu Guang’s promise over and over again in your head. You slowly drift off to sleep with a lovestruck smile on your face.

Notes:

i wanted to go on a slightly different direction to the way it actually turned out, but i didn't!! sorry that it's short again, but i hope the amount of lu guang chapters are making up for the fact that his chapters always have such low word counts.

Chapter Text

It was another boring day for you. Since you had no plans for the day, you were stuck wallowing in your loneliness at home.

To be fair, you did reach out to a few of your friends to ask if they wanted to hang out, but they all said that they were too busy that day and that you could hang out another time.

A quick look at their social media accounts would tell you the opposite.

You sighed, dropping your phone next to you on your bed as you stared up at the blank ceiling. Did nobody have any time left for you? Were your friends getting sick of you? Was Lu Guang getting sick of you too???

You shoot back up at the thought of your boyfriend becoming bored of you. Grabbing your phone, you quickly type a message to him.

You: “are u busy today???”

Usually you didn’t bother him on business days in case he was working.

Lu Guang: “No, we have no clients today.”

Lu Guang: “Why? What’s wrong?”

You: “can i come past soon? im bored and i miss you ):”

Lu Guang: “Sure. See you soon.”

Thank god, at least someone had time left for you. Getting up from your bed, you slip on a jacket and your shoes and grab your necessary belongings before leaving your apartment.

It doesn’t take long for you to finally arrive at Time Photo Studio. You open the door and head inside, the bell sounding at your arrival to alert that a customer had come in (despite you not being a customer).

Cheng Xiaoshi walks over, presumably to greet the “customer” before realising that it was just you. He smiles and waves at you before changing his direction to go upstairs to his bedroom, giving you and Lu Guang some alone time for now.

You walk over to the couch where Lu Guang was sitting. He looks up from his book as you approach him and he gives you a small smile, something that was mostly reserved for you. You sit down next to him, resting your head on his shoulder.

“What’re you reading?” You ask, skimming the words on the opened pages in front of him.

“The Picture of Dorian Gray. Have you heard of it before?”

“Of course I have. I just haven’t read it before.”

“I can lend you my copy once I'm done, if you want.” He suggests, gesturing the book over to you.

“Nah, I’m good.”

Lu Guang only hums in response before going back to reading his book in silence. Once he finishes the chapter he was on, he puts his bookmark in between the pages and sets the book aside.

The two of you continue to sit in silence. At first it was comfortable, but with every second that passed, your thoughts from before plagued your mind.

Was Lu Guang actually sick of you? Was that why there was this suffocating silence between you both??

“Hey, Lu Guang. Are you sick of me?” You hadn’t meant to say it so bluntly and straight off the bat like that, but it was too late to take it back.

“No? Of course not. Why do you think that I am?” He asks, raising an eyebrow and turning his head to look at you.

“I think my friends are, so I was worried that you were too. I’m sorry…”

He sighs, rubbing your arm gently.

“I could never be sick of you.” He says calmly. “I think you should talk to your friends about it too, if it turns out they are then you should drop them. You deserve better.”

“It’s not that easy… It’s harder to make friends now that I’m finished with school.” You frown, looking down at your hands that were fiddling with each other in your lap.

“Well, I’m sure not all of them are sick of you. Just talk to them about it.”

You sigh, leaning closer into Lu Guang’s side.

“Maybe you’re right. I’ll try and talk to them about it whenever I can. Thanks for your input.”

He kisses your forehead. “Anytime.”

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

He hadn’t meant to say it.

It had just slipped from his anger-clouded mind.

And he instantly regretted it the second it fell from his lips.

Watching as your annoyed expression morphed into a shocked one, and as tears began selling up in your eyes and spilled over. Guilt quickly flooded his veins, but before he could apologise, you were opening the door and running straight out of the studio.

“Wait!” He yelled, immediately running out the door and chasing after you. He wasn’t going to leave this argument on a bad note, especially one with you crying because of him.

Cheng Xiaoshi has always been told by his partner that he tends to get too emotional easily for his own good, and he let his emotions get the best of him, ultimately hurting you in the process.

You don’t end up getting very far from the studio, opting to stop running and cry into your hands. It doesn’t take too long for Cheng Xiaoshi to catch up to you.

He places a hand on your shoulder, mildly grabbing your attention.

“Please… I’m sorry. Let me explain properly…” He huffs, trying to catch his breath.

‘Explain’ is exactly what he does, apologising over and over again until you know for sure that he’s truly sorry. His voice breaks a couple of times too, not wanting to cry but getting very close to sobbing along with you.

You turn around and trap him in a tight embrace, burying your face into his shoulder.

“You’re an idiot…” You say, sniffling as your crying calms down.

“I know, I know.” He replies, rubbing your back gently.

“No, you’re not supposed to agree…” You sigh, pulling your face away from his shoulder to look him in the eyes. “I didn’t mean it. I’m sorry.”

“It‘s okay…” He kisses your forehead.

“Let’s go head back now, maybe we can take a nap together too?” He suggests.

“Mhm… I’d like that.”

Notes:

fun fact time idk i hand write all of these first and then put them on a google doc and then on ao3
