Work Text:
Rex carefully punched the door code in, holding on tightly to his parcel. It was a gift that had been months in the making and he’d be damned if he let all the time and effort and care shatter on the floor.
“Hello dear.” Obi Wan said, glancing up from his datapad to smile at Rex. Cody, who was sat next to Obi Wan at the table, headphones on and frowning down at his own datapad, did not look up. “Cody is working on a difficult scene.”
“I’m done with it for now.” Cody grumbled, setting the datapad down.
“I, uh. I made something for you.” Rex said, setting the box down on the counter before returning to the entrance to pull off his boots.
“Is this whatever new craft you’ve been not telling us about?” Cody asked.
“It is.” Rex had started by learning how to knit during the war, but he had branched out once peace had come and they were more routinely in a place where he could experiment. He opened the box and pulled out the two carefully wrapped objects stored inside, leaving the third one that completed the set and was for Rex himself in the box. “Here.”
Obi Wan and Cody were different in many ways, but the careful way they unwrapped the paper to reveal the slightly misshapen mugs Rex had made for them and the adoration and gratitude that they expressed, though different in its manner of expression, was much the same.
