Chapter Text
The Tokyo Jujutsu High campus was not made for the summer heat.
Suguru, Satoru, and Shoko were all sitting outside, wearing tank tops and shorts, sweating their asses off. Suguru had summoned one of his cursed spirits to fan them, but it was not doing that much. Satoru, who was having the worst time with the heat, had gotten a couple bottles of cold water, two of which he poured onto himself. However, the effects would wear off quickly. There really was no winning.
“I can’t believe it’s summer already.” Shoko said, staring up at the completely clear sky.
“With this heat, I can totally believe it.” Satoru replied, laying down on the grass, debating whether or not he should pour another bottle of water onto himself.
“You’re right, Shoko. This school year went by pretty fast.” Suguru completely ignored Satoru’s comment, but did pay attention to him by fanning him as best as he could. It did not help much, but every little bit counted. “Any plans for the summer?”
“Not really. Maybe catch up with some friends from middle school, maybe just walk around the city. Stuff like that.” Shoko shrugged. “What about you, Geto?”
“I’m gonna spend a lot of time with my parents. Every time I’ve talked with them and told them what I do, they’ve been worried sick. I feel bad.” Suguru took a sip out of one of the few full water bottles, then turned to Satoru. “What about you, Satoru? Are you going back to the Gojo Estate?”
Satoru groaned. “I forgot we had to leave campus over break. It’s gonna suck.”
“You could come home with me, if you really don’t want to go back.” Suguru suggested. “I’m sure my parents would love you.”
“Well, of course. Everyone loves me.”
“I beg to differ.” Shoko said.
“Hey! Stop being a hater! This is bullying!!”
“Someone has to humble you once in a while.” She shrugged with a smile.
“Whatever…” Satoru looked back up at Suguru. “Thanks for the offer, but I’ll pass. I think I should go back to the estate so I can learn more about my technique and stuff. Gotta make sure I’m getting stronger so I can continue being the strongest with you.” He reached up and poked Suguru’s face.
“If you say so. But you’re always welcome to come over if you want. You too, Shoko.”
“Thanks.” Shoko nodded.
“Never seen a cursed spirit be used as a fan before. That’s pretty funny.” The three students turned towards the familiar voice.
“Hey Sugiharu-Sensei.” Suguru and the others waved to their teacher as she took a seat on the grass.
“Anyone want popsicles?” Satoru immediately shot up, and reached into the cooler Sugiharu had brought with her. He did not care which flavor he pulled out, he just quickly opened it and took a bite. It was unknown if his urgency was caused by him overheating, or the sugar addict inside him. The other two thanked Sugahiru before picking out a popsicle and eating it like normal people. The teacher herself picked one out, and unwrapped it. “Of course. Had to get an extra special treat for you guys. After all, this will be one of the last times I see you guys as your teacher.”
The students went completely silent, even Satoru stopped chomping down on his popsicle. Sugiharu looked at them, a confused look on her face. “What?”
“That’s right… You won’t be our teacher anymore…” Shoko and the others frowned. All of them had really enjoyed having her as a teacher. She was pretty laid back, and word was the second-year teacher was pretty strict.
“Hey, don’t be too sad. You’ll still see me from time to time… Probably. As long as I don’t get fired. Or quit.”
“Why would you quit?” Suguru asked.
“You never know.” Sugiharu shrugged, licking her popsicle before it could melt and stain her bandages. “So, what did we think of the school year? What was the best part?”
“When you killed that worm.” Satoru said, already grabbing another popsicle.
“When Gojo knocked himself out while trying to do that Red thing.” Shoko smirked.
Satoru quickly shot up. “How was that the best part!? I was bleeding!” Shoko simply smiled and shrugged.
Sugiharu laughed before turning to Suguru. “What about you? What was your favorite part?”
“Well… It was nice meeting you all…” Everyone turned to Suguru, surprised at the oddly sweet answer. It was true, though. While no one else said it, Suguru, Satoru, and Shoko were truly happy to have the others enter their lives. The group they had formed was the type where, under any other circumstance, they would have never met. But because they all had these strange powers, it just worked out. “Also Satoru knocking himself out with the rock.”
“Suguru!!”
Suguru Geto, Satoru Gojo, and Shoko Ieri’s first year at Tokyo Jujutsu High came to an end with laughter and one of them being incredibly offended by a story about a rock. What the next three years had to offer was a complete mystery, but they would go into them together.
