Wei Wuxian and his professor Lan Qiren don't get along, not at all, and yeah everyone already knows how their relationship goes.
All of Wei Wuxian's high school years were dedicated to driving Lan Qiren as crazy as possible.
He would contradict him in class in the most annoying ways, shave his beard when he fell asleep during the break, and, more than once, he'd set him up on dates against his will with random teachers so, in Wei Wuxian's words, he would stop being a bachelor.
Lan Qiren didn't stop sending him to detention with his nephew, but since that didn't seem to be enough, he had to talk directly to his parents. Many, many times.
Both of them have a photo together at the graduation party, both immensely happy to never have to see each other at school again.
Then, many years later, Wei Wuxian is holding hands with Lan Wangji to announce their engagement to their families.
Wei Wuxian can't wait to see the old Lan Qiren's face when he finds out he's going to marry his nephew; it will be unforgettable and Wei Wuxian brought his camera to immortalize the moment.
But once they enter the house, Wei Wuxian gets confused and stands still for a moment at the entrance. What were his parents doing here? Due to his confusion and the fact that Lan Zhan suddenly let go of his hand and moved away, he didn't notice how Lan Qiren was also looking very confused in the other side of the room.
Meanwhile, Lan Wangji confidently approached Cangse Sanren and Wei Changze. And once they were all together, seeing that they already had the attention of the other two, they happily announced:
"Today, we're here to inform you that..." Cangse Sanren began, and suddenly both Wei Changze and Lan Wangji shot small confetti tubes and simultaneously said, very happily, "We will be a family!"
"A-ying! We're dating Qiren!" "Uncle, I'm going to marry Wei Ying," they both announced happily to their respective relatives.
And, indeed, the expressions on both of their faces were unforgettable.
