Work Text:
Sapnap smiles at his boyfriend as he bounces around, energy exploding outwards. Dream gets restless when waiting, especially for things like plans. It has something to do with his ADHD, but it’s not a big deal. Especially not to Sapnap.
George on the other hand takes his sweet time getting ready. “George! Get down here, Dream’s going to wear a hole in his shoes!”
“I'm coming! Give me a minute!”
“You said that, like, five minutes ago!”
“It’s been eight minutes,” Dream interrupts, checking his phone as he rocks back and forth.
“You heard the man!” George yells up the stairs. “What are you still working on? Hair doesn’t take this long!”
“Says the guy who wears a baseball cap 24/7!” George yells back.
The yelling seems to work though, as George comes down the stairs with a pout. Subpoena does have to admit that his hair is basically perfect, styled in a way that would make the fans go crazy.
But the fans don't get George tonight, nor do they get Dream. They don’t get the nice outfits and nice hair and Dream’s mascara. That’s for each other only.
“Okay, let’s go!” Dream excitedly scurries out the door, bouncing on his heels as he waits for Sapnap to unlock the car.
“You are really excited for this restaurant, aren’t you?” Sapnap teases, clicking the unlock button twice so Dream can get in.
“Duh, they will be playing my music. And it’s sushi! It’s, like, made for us,” Dream is doing his little hand flaps as Sapnap slides into the driver’s seat.
They chat all the way to the restaurant, just idle chatter to fill the space. They hadn’t originally planned on having a date night, but when Dream burst into Sapnap’s office yesterday dragging George behind him, talking a mile a minute about a nearby sushi place that was going to be playing his music, there wasn’t anything standing in the way of it become one. All the work they had could be put off another day, and they deserved a break.
He pulls up to the place, nothing too fancy but also looking nice. Sapnap wouldn’t be surprised if this place was on one of George’s list of potential places to try. It seems a little busier than one would expect for a Tuesday night, but this place did announce on their Facebook that they would be playing the “world famous YouTube star Dream’s new music”, so he images that they will be meeting quite a few fans tonight.
So maybe the hair, makeup, and clothes won't just be for him, but whatever. He's the one who gets to touch.
They get seated by a lovely woman who doesn’t seem to recognize them, but one of the waiters definitely does. He’s whispering to some other employees, trying not to make it obvious. He's really bad at being subtle though.
There is also a table of older teens and young adults who keep glancing over, poking each other and whispering.
George doesn’t seem to notice them, or might just be really good at pretending not to notice, while Dream is doing the thing when he tries to look more approachable.
Sapnap just ignores them, going back to looking at the menu, and browsing through all the options. The price isn’t too bad, for sushi at least, but he’s definitely going to make Dream pay for the meal. Making Dream pay for their stuff is basically a tradition at this point.
Dream’s head snaps up and he starts grinning when he hears the intro to one of his songs. The other table does the same thing, albeit with more chatter.
Sapnap knows he’s making a stupid face at Dream, but his boyfriend looks so happy. This whole day has just been a day of spending time together, kissing and cuddling while having a Harry Potter movie marathon. It had been a perfect way to destress after a week of work and chaos that was the prep for the release of Dream’s new album.
Honestly , he thinks, looking down at the menu once again as one of the assumed fans starts approaching their table, I hope every day of our lives looks like this.
