Work Text:
Dream was acting clingy. Again. He was always clingy whenever there was drama. It was like he was reassuring himself that it didn't matter and George wasn’t going to leave him.
That was one of Dream’s biggest fears, back when George was in London. That the drama would drive George away, to join the ever-increasing number of people who hated him. It’s part of the reason that Sapnap had to quite literally sit on Dream so they could explain their relationship to George and offer him a place in it. He was always scared that it would be the final thing to drive George away.
George had accepted, of course, which might seem a little strange, considering he hadn’t seen Dream’s face yet. But he already knew that he would love it, simply because it was Dream’s.
But back to the present, where Dream was curled around him, holding George tight. He didn’t mind, but it did make him concerned about Dream.
Honestly, George didn’t even know what it was about this time. He could always check Twitter, but doing that tended to make him mad and Dream didn’t need that right now.
“Hey Dream, want to tell me what’s going on?” George tried, which really just made Dream sniffle. “Want me to tell Sapnap to join us?” This got a nod from Dream, which isn’t surprising.
Before his visa was approved, Sapnap would talk about what living with Dream was like. He would cling like this to Sapnap when things got too much, which happened more than any of them would like to admit. They started to voice call when Dream would shut down, so Dream could be reassured by George’s voice. It also helped reassure George and Sapnap.
Gogy woggy: dreams doing the thing again
Gogy woggy: come cuddle
Sappitus Nappitus: not surprised
Sappitus Nappitus: omw
George puts his phone down and goes back to petting Dream’s hair. Sapnap slowly opens the door to George’s room, peaking his head inside.
“Hey Dream, Sapnap’s here. Mind letting go for a moment so he has room?” George asks gently, and after one more squeeze, Dream uncurls and sits up.
“Hi baby, we’re here,” Sapnap coos, planting a kiss on Dream’s nose. He’s rewarded with a watery smile.
George shuffles further up the bed and lays down, Dream following and burying his head in George’s chest. Sapnap spoons Dream from behind, hand resting on George’s back.
Dream eventually starts to drift off, settling down in between them. When he finally falls into a deep sleep, Sapnap speaks up.
“You know what's going on?” Sapnap whispers, frustration clear. “This is like the third time this month.”
“He muttered something about Tommy before going non-verbal, so not really. Didn't want to check Twitter and get angry,” George grumbles, rubbing a hand up and down Dream’s side.
“I’ll look around later, hopefully, it’s not too bad,” Sapnap yawns, snuggling into the bed. “I think I’m going to take a nap. Not much else we can do.”
“Night Sap.”
“Night George.”
George wakes up to movement. He blinks sleep out of his eyes, suddenly pushing himself up when he hears sobs.
Sapnap is gripping a crying Dream, trying to soothe him. George moves closer and joins Sapnap in his comforting gestures. It must be really bad if Dream’s sobbing like this. He may wear his heart on his sleeve, but he still tries to not be overly emotional.
“Dream, please, tell me what’s wrong,” Sapnap whispers, running his hand through Dream’s hair. Dream takes a shuddering breath to ground himself, before turning his head so that George could see a bit of his face.
“You know that Tommy video that I was worried would bring bad blood?” Dream starts, causing George’s heart to sink. Oh no, please not Tommy .
“...Yeah? What about it?” George asks carefully, keeping his tone as neutral as possible.
“He basically mocked me and the situation with the QSMP. there has already been an uptick in harassment in the fandom,” Tears once again surfaced in his eyes. “It was dying down, if not already dead. Why did he do that? Didn't he see how much it hurt me and my fans? People had to get police involved for their own safety.”
“I’m so sorry Dream,” Sapnap says, giving him a squeeze.
“I don’t know why he did that, why he thought it would be funny, but we’re here,” George rubs soothing circles into Dream’s leg, which does seem to help.
“...I wasn’t overreacting, right?” Dream asks hesitantly.
“Of course not!” “No, not at all Dream.”
Dream giggles a little at how they speak over each other, which makes George smile. At least he’s feeling better.
“Can we just stay in bed today? I don’t really want to do anything,” Dream admits, looking a little sheepish.
“Don’t have to ask me twice,” George flops back down, pleased at the laughter he hears.
“I’m going to go get my computer so we can watch something, because we just got our sleep schedules semi-normal,” Sapnap declares, before swiping Dream’s phone off the side table. “And I’m using this to order us food.”
Dream snorts before burying himself under the covers. Sapnap gives George a look that he interprets as Hide your phone, now is not the time for Twitter.
They spend the rest of the lazing around in bed, watching anime, and eating delivery. Tomorrow they can strategize how to deal with any fallout and figure out a plan, but for tonight, they can just cuddle.
