Chapter 1: Promise Fulfilled

Chapter Text

Bluey let out a weak sigh “I give up Midnight…you win” Midnight raised an eyebrow “Hm?” Bluey looked at her “End my pain, I can’t…can’t go on in life like this” Bluey felt her the cracks nearly finish spreading before she had thought of something, the cracks would halt “W-wait” she let out a sigh and looked at Midnight, who had continued to stare at her with an expressionless face. “Before you kill me, can you do one thing before that?” Midnight had raised an eyebrow and looked at Bluey “And what would you want me to do?” she asked. Bluey groaned and smiled weakly “Please, allow me to live for just a bit longer, I have a good reason for it” some of the cracks would begin to vanish while Midnight had gained an annoyed expression on her face. “And what is that reason? What could you possibly want me to do?” she wondered.

More of the cracks would vanish as Bluey would place her hand over her womb “Believe me, I don’t want to stay here forever, but I do want to stay long enough so that I could have this child…I guess you could say that I’m doing it for Mackenzie” Midnight groaned as she heard his name “Mackenzie…” she would then see memories of the border collie, the two had a friendly rivalry as kids for a long time, how he had helped her realize that trying new things like going to the creek could be fun, how the two even had a few arguments like when they played barky boats, how he was there for Bluey even after finding out what she did to Bingo, and how he was willing to put himself through pain and antagonize himself just so that Chucky would not kill her. “I know it means that I would have to deal with this pain for longer, but he’s lost his parents.” Her eyes teared up as she thought of him “He’s been through a lot too, I can’t take his child away from him. This whole thing is only happening because I caused Bingo to die, I can’t….can’t be the reason why someone else I love dies. I want my child to live!” Midnight growled and clenched her fists “I want them to live, even if I’ll be a mother they will never get to know! You look angry but…you’re a part of me, so this is your child as well and you know it wouldn’t be fair to cause more pain”

Midnight would sigh and think about it for a few seconds before looking at Bluey “You know, you control my every action” she would think for a free more seconds before nodding “I guess you do have a good point” her face changed from one of anger to one of sympathy “If I ended your pain right now things would be far more easier, but you are right. We would be killing that innocent child, and as much as I wish I could ignore it, Mackenzie shouldn’t have to suffer losing you and go through more pain knowing that his child is gone as well” she turned away from Bluey “Then…I promise I won’t let that child- our child come to harm”

The cracks had vanished from Bluey’s body, the pain had lessened but was still definitely there and noticeable. Bluey would walk over to Midnight and smile weakly before giving the fictional version of herself a hug “Midnight…thank you” she said weakly. Bluey would then begin to vanish and be absorbed by Midnight. The park area would reappear and it would become extremely hot and the plants would dry up, the wildlife would change, the grass would turn to sand, and the park would become an expansion of the desert. Midnight’s body would glow white and her height would change, once everything had finished, she looked just like Bluey had. She would place her hand over her womb “Don’t worry little one, you’re safe”

Bluey opened her eyes and looked around the cold hospital room she was in. She let out a sigh and sat up, she had bandages covering where Honey had slashed her, some of the wounds were deeper than she thought. She would get up and walk over to the mirror, something felt…wrong, her reflection looked normal, albeit darker than usual but she decided to ignore it for now. The television was on a random channel where it was showing Mixed-up Murphy, a cartoon Bluey was familiar with, she simply ignored it then she would walk out of the room. Bluey never liked how cold it felt in hospitals even when she understood that the purpose was to slow bacteria growth. “At least you’re not cold” Bluey said to the small pup that was growing inside her. She would look out the nearby window to see that it was pretty late “Must’ve been out for a while…not that it matters at this point” she said as she continued to walk towards the elevator. “Honey is dead, Jean-Luc is dead, Pretzel and Gruber too…I’m just glad that with Honey being gone…all of this should finally be over. Hopefully for good” Bluey thought. While she was in the elevator, the doors would open and another dog and her son would enter as well, Bluey did not think much about it until the boy had spoke “Hey mum, isn’t that the dog that they were talking about in the news?” the young pup asked excitedly. Bluey looked over at him “Hm?” she asked. The mother tried to shush her son “That’s not your business kiddo” she told him. “But mum! Everyone is saying that she's brave! That she tried to save Honey Huntress!” The mother placed her hand over her son’s mouth “Sorry about him, he’s energetic” she said sheepishly. Bluey smiled and shook her head “It’s fine, after everything that has happened I can’t say I blame him” Soon, the elevator would stop and the door would open, the mother and her child would step out, the son would wave at Bluey “Bye-bye blue lady!” he said. Bluey simply smiled and waved at him, not wanting to be rude. Once the doors closed again, Bluey leaned against the railing and closed her eyes. Once the elevator reached the first floor, the doors would open, however Bluey would remain inside the elevator for a few more minutes.

After a while, Bluey would make her way to the lobby where she would see very few dogs, some of which had fallen asleep in their chairs, then she saw two familiar dogs who were sitting further back. Deep in her heart she had wanted to just leave and find another way out of the hospital, she wanted things to be over but she knew that it wouldn’t be right for things to go this way. She walked over to Mackenzie, who had smiled at her and Rusty who was asleep. She smiled back at Mackenzie and gave him a hug “You had everyone worried, you know?” Mackenzie said. Bluey nodded “I’m sorry, I’m all better now” she responded. They would chat with a doctor for a few minutes who would then prescribe a painkiller for Bluey.  The two would wake Rusty up then they would all head to Mackenzie’s car. During the ride, Rusty noticed that Bluey was unusually quiet “You okay there Bluey?” he asked. She nodded “I’m fine Rusty, I’m just still a bit tired from everything, and all the medicine they put into me I guess” Rusty nodded “I gotcha, you know all that medicine is nothing but just poison they’re putting into your systems anyway” he said. Mackenzie laughed a little “I think…you’ve been spending too much time with Indy’s mum” he told the red kelpie. “Well some of the stuff she says actually makes sense!” Rusty told them. They would continue to talk about various things with each other until they had arrived at Rusty’s home, allowing him to get out and let their friends know about Bluey and then her and Mackenzie would drive back to his house, where they would happily cuddle on his couch for the rest of that night.

While Mackenzie was happy and with the girl he loved more than anyone else, and while she was technically Bluey, Midnight did not care for Mackenzie nearly as much as Bluey did. She did not care for any of Bluey’s friends the same way Bluey did, the only dogs that she cared for the same way that Bluey did would be Bluey’s family, especially Bingo. For Bluey’s sake, she would have to put her minimal feelings aside and do everything the same way that Bluey would,  fortunately things wouldn’t be awkward or difficult for her like they would be if she was like one of those dogs in some cheesy repetitive cartoon. She would just have to force herself to be more positive until it was time for the baby to be born. “I don’t understand, this will just cause more pain in the end, Bluey, but I can’t deny what you want in the end since in the end you will…” she would think about things for a bit then continue to stare at the sleeping Mackenzie “But…I guess I do understand some appeal to it” she would close her eyes and slowly drift off to sleep in his embrace.

Within the following months, life would continue for Bluey and her friends, she would do her best to be happy in front of everyone even when she was not. One day when Bluey was alone, Chloe would approach her alone. “Bluey, what's been going on with you lately?” Chloe asked. Bluey raised an eyebrow and looked at her “What do you mean Chloe?” Chloe sighed “Ever since the whole thing with Honey, you’ve been acting a bit different. I just wanted to know if something has been bothering you.” Bluey smiled and shook her head “It’s nothing, I just…feel bad for Honey you know? Things didn’t have to end the way they did, we could have been friends again if she would have just moved past whatever she felt towards me” Chloe sighed “You’re right, things could have ended better, much better” she looked at Bluey “But you are acting like I haven’t known you long enough to know that something is wrong or that something is bothering you” Bluey turned away from Chloe without saying another word “Is…is it Mackenzie? Is he…aggressive towards you in secret?” Bluey’s eyes widened as she looked at Chloe “No, Mackenzie has been great to me, really and he’s been making me be extra careful ever since-” she pointed towards her stomach “Honestly, it’s a bit annoying that he’s making me be so careful lately” Chloe giggled “It’s only him showing that he cares” Bluey nodded “I know and I love that about him, really I do, but have you ever known Mackenzie to want someone to be slow and steady about anything?” she asked. Chloe nodded “That’s true, I guess I understand what you are saying” Bluey hugged Chloe “I am sorry for making you worry” Chloe returned the hug “It’s fine…I just wish that you would come to me sometimes when things would bother you, I mean I feel like it’s my job to know since I am your best friend” Bluey laughed sheepishly and nodded “You’re right” Chloe checked the time on her phone then waved at Bluey “I’m meeting up with my dad so I’ll see you later alright?” she asked. Bluey nodded “See ya, mate” Bluey responded as she watched Chloe walk away. Once Chloe was out of Bluey’s sight, she would meet up with Winnie “How is she?” Winnie asked. Chloe sighed sadly “She made up an excuse…she won’t tell me what’s actually bothering her, and it hurts”  Winnie grabbed her hand “Do you think it’s about Mackenzie?” Chloe shook her head “He loves her way too much to hurt her, and she explained that he has been pretty protective over her for their pup” she said. “What if he’s being a bit restrictive over the things she does?” Winnie asked. “When Bluey avoids telling the truth, her tail sways, she’s clearly unaware of the habit but it’s never changed” Chloe told her “But if she won’t tell me, I can’t help her”

An hour later, Bluey would sit by herself in a park, memories of her and Bingo spending their time there as children would vividly replay in her head “Heh, we really had some of the best times here” she said to herself. There she would see a familiar face, she saw a certain wolf who was walking with one of his children. “I don’t know, all I can feel is a cold presence when I try finding it” the child said. “Well, maybe we can find it elsewhere then anyway you can apologize to blondie and tiny when we get home” Makenzo told his son. “Okay dad” his kid said while wagging his tail. “Oh Mr. Wolfdog, did you lose something?” Bluey asked from the bench. The duo then turned their attention to Bluey “Oh um whatever we were looking for is lost in our house, but thanks anyway…um?” Bluey raised an eyebrow “My name is Bluey? I visited your wife and your house years ago for therapy?” he tilted his head “You did? I’m sorry I genuinely don’t remember you” he apologized. Bluey shrugged “Yeah, you had gave me a burger and you even spoke with me while your wife spoke with my parents” His eyes widened “Oh yeah, you were that small blue heeler girl, now I remember you” his son had looked at her confused “Hey wait, I think one of my older siblings mentioned you before, they said that you said that you were a red heeler but-” he was quickly shushed by his father. “Don’t bring up bad things” His son continued to look confused “But she said her name is Bluey when her name is Midnight!” Bluey’s eyes widened “W-what? How would you know that name?” she asked. Makenzo looked at his son “Hey, focus on how you’re going to apologize to your brothers alright?” he said with a bit of an annoyed tone. “Y-yeah, sorry dad” he said. “Erm… Bluey , right? Ignore what he says, he usually says weird things when he’s bored or tired and we’ve been out all day” he said with a sheepish smile. “Anyway, we should be getting home now so he can apologize to his siblings” Bluey raised an eyebrow “Oh…is everything okay?” Makenzo nodded “Yeah, he just had a fight with his brothers over some board game or something, then something of his had gone missing” The two began to walk away from her “Take care of that baby Mid- Bluey” he said. Bluey looked down at her stomach and waved at him “Thank you” she said with a wave. “Why do I always get a weird feeling whenever I talk with them? How could they possibly know Midnight?” she asked with a flustered expression. She wanted to mind her own business but after they had got a distance away, she had got up to follow them. Once they had turned a corner, she had sped up to find them and eavesdrop on them, however much to her confusion they had seemed to just vanish into thin air. Had they somehow managed to escape her sight? Did they realize that she was following them and become suspicious? Either way Bluey had sighed and gave up, perhaps she would see them again, at some point.

Within a few more months, Bluey saw herself preparing for her wedding with Mackenzie, while she wasn’t too enthusiastic about it she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t a little bit curious about how it would feel to be a wife. With this, she knew that she would not have much time left, her baby would arrive in about two more months and that left her feeling a mix of different emotions “Guess I have to do this as well” she said to herself. She went over to her parents house where she was greeted by some family and a few of her friends, Chilli would help her into her dress, something that she noted that made her feel genuinely happy, once she had finished, Chilli had left her alone in the bathroom for a few minutes, then once she had looked in the mirror, her thoughts had hit her pretty hard “You’re changing Midnight…you’re the one that’s vanishing at this rate” she rolled her eyes “Was this my…her plan all along? So annoying…” she thought to herself as she realized that she was feeling more for everyone, was her Midnight persona vanishing? She was unaware of whether it was true or not but this whole thing was making her feel slightly more upset “This…this isn’t right, I should NOT be getting attached to these dogs like this, only my family!” she sighed. After a few seconds of silence, Bluey began to giggle “I won’t forget Bluey” she thought as she would go about her day while still carrying out her long and arduous plan.

Finally, the day of the child’s birth had come. Bluey was taken to the hospital by Mackenzie once her water had broken and now she would lay on a bed “We finally get to meet” She said with a smile as she told Mackenzie. Mackenzie nodded “That’s right, I really can’t wait for our little one” he said as he held Bluey’s hand “Stop it. Don’t touch me, don’t look at me. Don’t even smile at me…this is your fault” she had wanted to tell him, however she remained silent even though there were times when she had snapped at him due to the pregnancy changing her emotions. “You know, Chloe told me that you had been acting different lately, and I told her it could be because of you being pregnant. Anyway I just wanted to apologize to you” he said. Bluey raised her eyebrow “Apologize?” she asked. Mackenzie nodded “Well, it’s my fault that you’re going through all of this, the pain from the baby, the mood swings, the weird feelings, so I just wanted to say I’m sorry and that I love you” Bluey felt her heart skip a beat with Mackenzie’s apology. She had smiled and gave him a quick kiss “I can’t be mad with you” she said “This isn’t fair…why does all of this happen now? I can feel myself slipping, I need to keep Bluey safe…but I feel like…” her mind ran with conflicting thoughts. Over the course of the next five hours, Bluey and Mackenzie would patiently wait, Mackenzie would happily endure the pain that Bluey was inflicting upon his hands and wrists while she would go through her contractions. Soon, Bluey would give birth to a small mostly-red heeler pup that had inherited most of her features from her father. Despite this, she was a huge reminder of who Bluey had lost and lots of things Bluey and all of her friends had endured over these last few years. “That’s right…what happened to Bingo…and everyone else, it was all my fault…my fault…..my fault” she felt a strong pain in her heart but there was nothing she could do about it, at least not now. “At least now, I feel more sure about the decision, I know how I should be punished”

A few more months would pass and Bluey and Mackenzie would spend time bonding with their child who Bluey had named Bingo, Mackenzie believed it was to honor Bluey’s sister but Bluey named her that as a constant reminder of the dog that she had killed. She truly did love her child but her guilt had grown every time she had called her daughter’s name and spent alone time with her daughter. Mackenzie would approach the two while they were watching television together “I need to go run some errands real quick and buy Bingo some more food before she runs out” Bluey looked at him “Oh, you don’t want us to come with?” Mackenzie smiled and shook his head “Nah, you two relax together, I’ll see you when I get back” he said before kissing her forehead then looking at Bingo “Daddy will be right back, you be a good girl and keep your mum company, alright Bingo?” he asked with a playful smile. Bingo gave her father a small smile and watched as he walked away “Um, Mackenzie?” Bluey said. Mackenzie stopped and turned to look at her “Yeah babe?” After a few short seconds of silence, Bluey spoke “I love you” she said with a blush. He rubbed the back of his head and smiled at her “I love you too” he said before leaving the home and getting in his car. Bluey waited a few minutes and once she was sure he was gone she looked at her small daughter. “Bingo…I know you can’t understand me but I need to let you know, I am sorry for what I will do.” She sighed “I can only hope that you grow up to be a big, happy girl and stay good for your dad” Bingo had looked confused but she would quickly fall asleep in her mother’s arms. Bluey smiled then placed Bingo in her cot “Sweet Dreams little one” she whispered as she walked away.

Mackenzie had been away from home for about 30 minutes when he had paid for Bingo’s food “Maybe I should get some juice for Bluey” he thought “I feel like she would want-” before he could finish his thoughts, an odd image flashed in his head. While he was unsure of what he saw, he had a sinking feeling in his stomach and it made him uneasy. He would carry his groceries to the car and he was stopped by a security guard who had become concerned over his expression “You alright sir?” he asked. Mackenzie just nodded silently “I uh…I need to get home” he said before getting in his car. Mackenzie would call Bluey’s phone, unfortunately it would be sent to voicemail. This wasn’t unusual, Bluey would tend to fall asleep while spending time with Bingo but he still felt like something was wrong…very wrong. Mackenzie had made it back home within ten minutes, he would have made it sooner if the traffic had been better. He had heard a familiar sound, Bingo was crying however she seemed more upset than usual, this made Mackenzie’s feeling become even worse as he rushed inside. “Bluey?” he called out to get no response. He entered the room to see Bingo crying in her cot, he would pick her up and comfort her, but the lack of Bluey made him more concerned “Where did your mum go?” he asked her. “Bluey?!” Mackenzie yelled out, more concerned for her. He would check each room only to see that she was not there. Until he entered their bedroom and saw her laying still. Once he entered the room, Bingo began to cry again “B-Bluey? Bluey?!” Mackenzie would gently shake her to try to wake her, only to become more scared with each failed attempt. He then put his ear to her chest only to nearly drop Bingo when he heard no heartbeat coming from her “BLUEY?!” he called out. He hurriedly sat Bingo on a safe spot on the bed then proceeded to try to give her cpr “Bluey wake up” he said desperately. He began to tear up as he began to realize the dark truth he was now facing. He then noticed a piece of paper sticking out from under Bluey’s pillow.

Mackenzie, let me start this off by saying that none of this is your fault. I really am sorry that I chose to leave you like this, but I was feeling a horrible pain that nobody could help me get away from. I’ve been feeling this way for years and I already knew how this would end but I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving you with nobody left to love, so I leave our daughter with you. Please, help her to grow into a good dog who knows love in her life. Like I said, this is not your fault so don’t ever blame yourself for not noticing, I never wanted you to. I just couldn’t live while knowing that I am the reason why my little sister never got to enjoy her life, enjoy the same things that I can. I love you more than I can put into words, and I love our little Bingo, I hope the two of you can forgive me someday, until then, please be happy.

      -Bluey

Mackenzie sobbed as he finished reading the note “Bluey” he said while holding Bluey’s hand. He looked around only to see an empty bottle of painkillers on the floor. Mackenzie had picked up the small and saddened Bingo and carried her out of the room “We have to go to your nana’s house now” he said. He was hurting immensely but knew that he had to be strong for his daughter, he knew that what would come after would be another pain filled moment for him, telling his in-laws of their daughter’s death. Despite how close the Heeler home was, to Mackenzie he felt like he was walking for miles. He held his daughter close to him and each step felt more painful than the last, the young Bingo would hold onto her father and simply play with his fur until he had finally managed to make his way to the front door of another house. He knocked slowly but with enough force for Bandit or Chilli to hear it. After a few seconds of waiting, the door would finally open, Chilli smiled seeing her son-in-law and granddaughter but her smile faded when she noticed his silence and disheartened look on his face. Mackenzie handed the young pup to her grandmother then once Chilli was holding her he finally spoke “I-is Bandit here?” he asked. Chilli nodded “Yeah he’s just in the room watching cricket, what’s wrong love?” Mackenzie shook his head “I need you both to hear this” he said weakly as he would walk to where Bandit was with Chilli following him. Once they arrived in the room, Chilli would hand Bingo to Bandit who happily held her in his arms, Bingo would reach to her father who would drop to his knees and begin to sob on the carpet beneath him. “Whoa mate! What’s the matter?” Bandit asked. “I’m so sorry Chilli…Bandit…I failed you both” he said weakly. The concern on their faces grew “Bluey…she…” he sobbed some more as he struggled to utter the words that were making his heart hurt more than anything “She….took her own life” he said while sobbing uncontrollably “WHAT?!” Bandit shouted, startling the small pup in his arms. He carefully set Bingo down on the couch then marched over to Mackenzie “What did you say?!” Mackenzie. Chilli went over to the small infant who was now crying and trying to comfort her “What do you mean?!” Bandit asked in a furious voice. “While I was out…she…” he couldn’t say anymore. Bandit growled and lifted Mackenzie up “What did you do to my daughter? Were you hurting her?!” Bandit asked “IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE?!” Bandit yelled.

“Do you think I’m sick? I would never hurt Bluey! And I wouldn't make this kind of joke!” Mackenzie said, defending himself. “Then why right after she had a kid?!” Bandit said. Mackenzie tried to calm himself down “I-I don’t know…please just-” Bandit gripped Mackenzie’s fur tightly “I think it’s suspicious that-” “BANDIT!” Chilli yelled at her husband “Knock it off! Can’t you see how much pain he’s in?!” Chilli said. Bandit turned to see his wife was in tears while trying to calm Bingo down “You said it yourself! He got stabbed because of Bluey, there would be no way he could hurt her because he was clearly in love with her!” Without saying a word, Mackenzie pulled out Bluey’s suicide note and handed it to them “Her body…it’s still on my bed” he said while staring at the floor. Bandit couldn’t believe it, not only had Chilli had a miscarriage, but then they lost their Bingo, now they find out that they lost Bluey as well and now they had no children left. “This is her handwriting…but then Bluey really is?” Mackenzie would break down into tears again “I’m so sorry…so sorry…please forgive me…” he said. Chilli rubbed his back while he cried, Bandit would promptly leave the house and go into Mackenzie’s. Chilli would put Bingo into Mackenzie’s arms and follow after Bandit.

Once Mackenzie would return to his home, he would go back into his bedroom where he saw Bandit who was broken over Bluey and Chilli who was unable to hold back her tears. “Bluey…my sweet Bluey, I wish I could have helped you. I love you so much and now…now” Bandit couldn’t finish what he was saying, he held Bluey’s hand “...Not you too…” he said in a broken voice. Those three specific words hit Mackenzie hard, Bandit and Chilli were strong for Bluey but now they had no children left. The two were then alerted by the sounds of Bingo, Bandit then stood up and walked over to Mackenzie before pulling him into a hug “I’m sorry, I…I just didn’t want to believe” Mackenzie nodded “I understand” he told the blue heeler “I don’t hold it against you” Bandit shook his head “No, I know you had nothing to do with it, I know you loved her so much, yet I was still willing to blame you.” he said through his sobs. “You’ve lost just as much as I have and I was being unreasonable” Mackenzie patted Bandit on his back “I forgive you Bandit” he said. The two of them would then turn to see Chilli who wept quietly over her daughter, she kissed Bluey’s head and stayed next to her. Mackenzie sighed as he knew the next part of this would be just as hard, letting all of their friends know about what has happened, and knowing that they too would be just as upset from losing a great friend like Bluey, especially Chloe.

The next day, Mackenzie would leave Bingo with her grandparents as he knew he had to tell their friends about everything. Chloe, and by extension Winnie, would be the first two to hear about Bluey’s death, and just as Mackenzie expected, Chloe would not take the news lightly at all. Mackenzie was met with a swift, hard, slap across his face when he first told Chloe who at first refused to believe him, then similarly to Bandit, she immediately pinned the blame onto Mackenzie “WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!” Mackenzie would remain silent as he knew that Chloe knew the truth. “I SWEAR BORDER COLLIE, IF YOU CAUSED HER TO KILL HERSELF THEN I’LL MAKE YOUR LIFE-” before she could finish, she would see the heartbreak in his eyes, that would be enough for her to realize that he was innocent of anything to have caused Bluey to end her own life. Chloe would turn to the comfort of Winnie then proceed to make amends with Mackenzie, they would then tell their friends, all of whom would attend her funeral and not a single one of them would stay dry-eyed, they had all come to love Bluey over time and they were all hurting over their loss.

Within time, it would be eight years since Bluey had killed herself, Mackenzie and a small red-heeler mix would walk together in the silent graveyard “Dad, I don’t like it here…it makes me feel sad” Mackenzie let out a sigh “I know Bingo, it makes me really sad too” he said as he looked at three bouquets he held in his hands. Bingo looked at her father confused. “I don’t understand, if it makes you sad then why did you bring us here?” she asked. Mackenzie smiled at her “Well today is an important day to me, and it involves you as well” Bingo raised an eyebrow “It does?” Mackenzie nodded. The two then stopped in front of two graves “I used to come here just for these two, I hoped that I wouldn’t need to come here for other reasons” he said before placing one of the bouquets over the joint graves “Hey mum…dad…I’m here again, and this time I’m with your granddaughter, I’m sorry I never brought her here to see you, but she’s here now” he said. “Maybe she’ll visit you two again with me some day” he said with a small smile. Bingo’s eyes widened “Wait, your mum and dad are gone?” Mackenzie nodded “They have been gone for a very long time, and I miss them a lot, but I know that they would love you” Bingo looked at the other two bouquets “Who are those for then?” Mackenzie picked Bingo up carefully and continued to walk “Someone more important to you than you know” After a few more minutes, Mackenzie would stop in front of two other graves. After he sat Bingo down, he would stare at one of the graves and Bingo would stare at the other, she was confused and a bit worried by what she saw “Daddy, what does this one have my name on it? Is it for me?” She asked worriedly. Mackenzie tried not to laugh then he knew he would have to explain “No Bingo, this Bingo was your aunt” Bingo looked at him “You mean, you had a sister?” Mackenzie shook his head “Not exactly, she was your mum’s little sister” he then turned and looked at Bluey’s grave “And this….” he closed his eyes and tried to hold back his tears “This is where your mum is…” he said sadly. Bingo’s eyes widened “My mum?” she asked. Mackenzie nodded.

“H-hey Bluey” he let out a long sigh “This is our daughter” he said as he sat the flowers onto both graves “She’s grown so much since you saw her and she reminds me so much of you” he wiped the tears from his eyes “You know, I miss you everyday. I wish that things could have ended better than they did but I really hope that you are at peace now.” Bingo remained silent as she watched her father “I still love you so much” he said in a soft voice. Bingo would hug Mackenzie tightly to try and cheer him up. Bingo then looked at her mother’s grave “Hi mum, I know I don’t really know you and I don’t really know what happened. But I hope that everything is okay now and that you are happy” Bingo’s ear would droop “I wish that I got the chance to talk with you, or play with you, but I am glad that your friends are very nice to me and tell me good things about you. I love you and I hope that you would love me too” Mackenzie smiled and hugged his daughter “Your mum would love you so very much” he told her. “For real life?” she asked. Mackenzie picked her up again and carried her towards their car “For real life” he said. While he no longer had the girl he loved in his life, he still had someone who he loved with all his heart, and he was going to do his best to be a good father, for himself, and for Bluey.
