Work Text:

Joe sought shelter under a big oak tree when a downpour came out of nowhere. While waiting for the rain to be over, Joe walked around the oak's trunk, counting the steps he took in an attempt to find out how big the oak's circumference was. Joe was just halfway around when he saw someone move in the rain. At first, Joe thought the person was also heading for shelter under the oak, but instead, the person stopped walking and looked up at the sky.

Joe took a step closer to have a look at the person standing out in the rain. Shielded behind a big branch, Joe could tell a few things about the person by looking at him. Yes, it was a man because of how the T-shirt was clinging to his broad shoulders. And he was also wearing shorts and sandals. His long hair was wet, and the water ran down his face with the strong cheekbones and nose. If you asked Joe, the man was beautiful.

What happened next took Joe by surprise because the man started to dance in the middle of the rain. The man's dance moves were filled with grace, and he was moving with the rain falling to the ground. It was almost like he was floating over the ground like a Nymph from ancient Greek mythology, and Joe felt like one of the Satyrs watching the Nymphs. If you asked Joe, it was like the entire world disappeared around them both during the dance.

Joe had for ages felt like he had been wandering around in the desert trying to find an oasis when it came to finding new inspiration for his art. And now Joe had found that oasis where a Muse was waiting for him in the form of a man dancing in the rain. Joe wanted to draw the man dancing so badly and wished he hadn't left his backpack on the other side of the oak tree, but he was also scared of moving away in case the man would disappear, so he settled with imprinting the man's dance moves in his mind.

What Joe had forgotten all about was that a downpour always would end at some point. Before Joe could do anything, the man was gone just as fast as he had appeared. Joe picked up his backpack and walked over to the spot where the man had danced. Joe needed to know if what he had seen was a dream or not. When Joe saw footprints in the mud, he knew he had to find the man again, no matter how long it would take because Joe had finally found his Muse and would search the entire world for him.
