   Summary

   Echanson is a young man from the agrarian planet Dionysus, where he is happiest tending to his farm, and especially his cow boy Bovis. One morning, he receives a message from the imperial court: he has been chosen to be manservant to Phagos, one of the many Princes on the imperial court of the moon of Bacchus. On Bacchus, the fattest among the Princes is to be crowned Emperor. Thus, a competition among them has started: servants fatten up their Prince, so that theirs will become Emperor. Here, Echanson, Bovis and Phagos get swept into the competition, politics, rivalries and eventually the powers that control this hedonistic empire behind the scenes.
