Gajeel sat in the ruins of what his guild was, he didn't think he would be affected by the disbandment, he'd lost so much in his life, when Phantom Lord fell apart it meant next to nothing to him. This was different, Phantom Lord was powerful people using slightly less powerful to become more powerful, Fairy Tail was like a family. Gajeel hadn’t had a family since Metalicana disappeared, he didn't think he wanted one anymore after that and yet-
"Gajeel!" He was pulled out of his thoughts by Levy who was carefully stepping through the rubble of their former guild.
He blushed slightly, hearing a sort of excitement in her voice. "What'd'ya want shrimp?" He frowned trying to play off how impossibly happy he was that she was still here.
"Don't call me that." She grumbled "I was wondering if you've decided what you're going to do now that the guild's disbanded."
"Dunno."
"You don't have any kind of plan or idea?" She scolded. "What are you gonna do for money or food ? Gajeel, where are you gonna live?"
"Shrimp, you don't have to worry 'bout me. I've survived a guild disbanding before, I'll be fine."
"Gajeel!" Her eyes were beginning to fill with tears.
"Levy." He put a hand on her shoulder and glanced into her teary eyes. "I promise I'll be okay."
"Gajeel I'm worried about you."
He could feel the strong beats of both their hearts, she was worried about him , he didn't know if he'd ever had someone worry about him like she did. He wanted to confess right then and there, tell her he'd had a crush on her for a while now. No he couldn't, she didn't need him weighing her down.
"I got a job offer from the council." She simply stated. "I know they are not your favorite people, but they're trying to build a new, better council."
"Levy you can go wherever you want, I don't control you."
Levy sighed "Well I was hoping you would come with me. It'd be nice to have a familiar face with me, Lily could come too obviously."
All he could think was 'Levy I love you, I will follow you anywhere you want me too.' He knew he shouldn't, she probably didn't even feel that way about him, how could she after everything he's done. Instead he muttered out a quick "I'll talk to Lily about it."
Levy smiled. "Well I hope you both decide to join me."
