Sunlight streams through the windows, dousing the bedroom in gold. Vex lies awake in bed, propped up on the pillows as her husband still sleeps. Percy is curled up with his head on her chest, arms wrapped around her waist.
She can’t help but smile as she runs her fingers through his thick hair, separating the tangled locks. His hair is growing long, she notes, he’ll be due for a haircut. He hates how his hair feels when it’s longer, it tends to drive him to frustration easily.
Her other hand runs along his back, gently tracing the bumps of his scars. It took a long time for him to be comfortable shirtless around her, she adores how she is the only person who gets to see him like this.
Percy nudges his face against her clavicle, huffing softly. Vex smiles and leans down to press a kiss to his hairline. Now getting more awake, he groans softly and tries to hide his face against her even more.
Vex can feel every line of his face against her skin, the soft skin of his lips and the fluttering of his eyelashes. He is such a beautiful man and she adores the way he turns bright red when she tells him that.
“Good morning, darling,” Vex greets softly. Gently, she runs her nails against his back, a sensation he adores. Just as expected, his groans turn to a hum and she can feel him smile against her.
His hands move to her hips, using her to pull himself up to her level and rest his head on the pillow beside her. He presses a soft kiss to her lips before lazily mouthing along her jaw.
Vex smiles, tipping her head to the side to give him better access to her skin. She sighs, tightening her fingers against the roots of his hair. After a long minute, he leans back with a self satisfied smile, “Good morning, dearheart.”
“You’re in an awfully good mood this morning.”
Percy hums, “I had the most wonderful dream. It featured you and me,” he kisses along the neckline of her nightgown, “in very pleasurable circumstances.”
Vex laughs. She pushes Percy back gently, moving to straddle his hips. His light blue eyes seem to glow in the morning light. Percy smiles ever so lovingly as his hands settle on her waist.
“Tell me something,” Percy says, tracing the stretch marks on her thighs. “What do you value more? All of the gold in the treasury or me in your bed?”
Vex pretends to think, knowing Percy already knows the answer to his question. She places a hand on the center of his chest and leans down to his ear, “All of the treasure in this entire world isn’t enough to earn anyone else the pleasure of being in your place.” She bites his ear lobe softly before kissing his jaw. “You are my treasure.”
When she pulls back, Percy’s eyes are dilated as he looks up at her. His eyes almost look brown in his adoration for her. Gods she loves him more than even possible. He pushes himself up onto his forearms and kisses her softly.
Vex indulges him for a very long moment, making him arch up to her lips. When she needs to come up for air, she pulls back just enough to tell him softly, “Unfortunately, we have a meeting in half an hour.”
Percy smirks, “I can work quickly.”
“Gods, I’ve corrupted you,” Vex laughs. She swings her legs over Percy’s chest and falls back against the headboard, automatically interlacing their fingers together. “Come here.” She touches his cheek to turn him to face her. Ever so tenderly, she kisses him.
“You know how much I adore you, Percival, right?” She asks against his lips.
“Of course,” Percy squeezes her waist. “I have never doubted it. I do know how much you value your treasure. How lucky I am to be yours.”
She hums and kisses him again, “My darling, my treasure.” My reason, my judgment.
Percy preens as the words reach into his heart.
