Chapter Text
“Hmm..”
There's a toasty fire in the fireplace, crackling and eating away at the fresh logs of wood, ones Shadow had chopped up out in the yard, shirtless, while Sonic cheered him on from the deck.
“Hmm?”
The two are cuddled up on the couch, a knitted scarlet blanket, usually reserved for decorative purposes, draped over them, drawing them closer together.
“Yknow… it's nice having just, quiet”
Sonic muses, as he nuzzles in closer to the fluff on Shadow's chest.
There's plastic pumpkins up on the mantlepiece, ones Sonic fought Shadow to buy, they were out shopping for groceries and Sonic just thought they'd be the perfect thing to liven up the previously abandoned Robotnik estate they, and a few friends of course, decided to spend their autumn in.
“Well of course it’s quiet” Shadow laughs “Everyone else is asleep by now”
Amy had whipped up dinner an hour or so ago for everyone, and dessert too, mostly as Amy is always finding a reason to bake for everyone (And Cream is always looking for a reason to help Amy in the kitchen) the smell of sweet spiced pumpkin pie still lingering, mostly because some of it was still stuck in Sonic’s chest fur, a trademark of his fast and messy style of eating.
“Yknow what I mean…. “ He rolls his eyes
“I just like, being in your company, not doing anything in particular..”
There are vivid orange, yellow and red leaves flowing gracefully down onto the ground from the trees above, fluttering in the night sky near the windows, complementing the red curtains, and dancing like the fire.
Shadow giggles, fussing with Sonic’s quills
“Still not used to the whole ‘having a boyfriend’-thing, huh?”
Sonic stares up at the soft autumn moon, the tiny stars that sparkle like brilliant diamonds, silky whispery clouds framing it like a painting in a gallery.
“Guess not.”
