As Chloe dug through a box she didn’t remember seeing until now, she noticed a collection of mysterious items among her fiancée’s belongings. Her initial curiosity persuaded her to shove her arms down into the box and begin at the bottom. Her fingertips grazed a stack of crumpled and folded papers, enticing Chloe to clutch and pull them to the top.
Unfolding the stack, Chloe began scanning the pages, noticing Max’s handwriting on the front and back of each.
“What the hell are these sheets?” she asked the silent, early evening gloom between herself and the mostly empty room. “Songs? Max wrote all of these?”
With her fiancée away at an M3 gig, Chloe knew she had a few hours before the girl would get back home for their final night there.
A myriad of emotions danced across her overflowing heart as she read the first song.

Chloe frowned at the wall. She lowered the wrinkled papers and picked up her phone, immediately dialing Max’s number. It went directly to voicemail as she knew it would. Max worked hard for their photography business– and when she worked, she turned her phone off so she could give complete focus.

Chloe hung up the phone, then she moved the first song to the back of the stack, replacing it at the top with the next one…
