Work Text:
After going through so much together, Chloe and Max were not worried. They faced a multiverse of trials and adversity that not only tested the limits of their devotion and connection to each other but shook them deep down to their very souls. Yet, through it all, they had remained tethered in their love for one another, and would remain that way until the end of time.
As they walked side by side– with Chloe holding the baby carrier out in front of herself, they simultaneously gazed down at their little girl, a symbol of their love and the bright future that certainly lay ahead.
The couple had just been released from the hospital after Max gave birth to the little blonde-haired bundle of joy.
Chloe leaned over and kissed Destiny's tiny, smooth forehead.
"She's perfect, Max," Chloe purred.
Max smiled, her blue eyes radiating with joy. "She is perfect, Babe. Just like you."
Max and Chloe had decided to name their daughter Destiny, a name that meant so much to both of them. It captured their journey together, which was the culmination of a lifetime of boundless endearment. It was a name that spoke of fate, of paths that were always meant to intertwine, of a future that would be filled with gaiety, happiness, and a pure love that was born from respect and admiration.
As the door closed behind them, following entry into their cozy home, Max and Chloe settled down on the couch. Chloe unbuckled the safety straps and gingerly lifted their sleeping daughter from her swaddled bed. She nestled Destiny between them, right in the center. They took turns rubbing their flattened palms over her soft head. They marveled at the little girl’s tiny fingers and toes, at the soft wisps of hair on her head, and at the barely perceivable freckles that were already showing on Destiny’s nose and high cheek areas.
"I can't believe this is real. She's ours, Babe." Max said, her voice filled with awe. “She’s us.”
Chloe leaned over and kissed Max's cheek. "I know. It feels like a damn dream."
The new parents sat there basking in the glow of their new family. The shadows of their past were nonexistent at that time. The illumination of love kept darkness away from the moment.
As the sun slid below the horizon, Max and Chloe tucked Destiny into her new crib. They stood there for a minute, watching her sleep, their hearts overflowing with delight. Max laid her head on Chloe’s shoulder, and Chloe rested hers on top of Max’s head.
"She deserves the best life, Chloe. We’re going to make that happen." Max’s voice was firm with determination.
Chloe nodded. Her eyes were beginning to glisten with unshed tears. "Yes. Yes, we are. You’re damn right we are."
As they turned the baby monitor on and left the room, they held hands. Destiny slept well in her new home, and for that, both mothers were elated. They eventually settled into their own bed after taking turns showering.
"Thank you," Max quietly spoke.
A goofy grin formed on Chloe’s face; her eyes warm with love. "Thank me? For what? You’re the one who was in labor. You pushed Destiny out and shit."
"For giving me a life I never thought I could have. For giving me all of yourself. For making me believe in myself. For giving me our beautiful baby girl. For being you..."
Chloe cut her off. She craned in and passionately pressed her mouth against Max’s. They kissed for several moments then finally pulled apart.
"She is our destiny," Chloe whispered. “She’s perfect, just like you.”
