Chapter Text
Insistent typing filled the room, drowning out the beeps and grinds from various pieces of machinery, yet providing nothing from the rumbling from above. Donatello hissed, letting out a whining chirp that simply said ‘scared’ .
‘Here. Safe.’ a chirp that was undoubtedly his twin’s ‘son’ cut through the tension in the room. Donnie turned slightly to face the human child, swallowing down a whine.
“You’re supposed to be out there.” The turtle pointed to the ceiling as another rumble assisted in the shaking of the room.
“I was sent in to bring back Ms. O’Neil.” The boy said, walking over to his uncle and hugging the softshell tightly. “She’s in east wing med bay 2.”
“Casey, you’re bleeding.” The mechanic-scientist said with concern lacing his tone heavily. He gripped the boy’s wrists and pulled him off him gently, releasing one of his small wrists to tilt Casey’s head to the right slightly.
“Krang Hound bit me, I-I'm fine, though.”
Donnie hissed, with no real heat towards the child in his hold, at the bandages wrapping around his neck. “These don’t feel stitched, I suppose that Leo is still out there.”
Casey nodded, “They said to come to you for that...”
Donnie prodded lightly, ignoring when Casey winced after a particularly, and accidentally, hard jab.
“Go to the south wing med bay, I’ll meet you there.”
The boy nodded, the heels of his shoes clicking softly against the hard concrete floor as he hurried off.
Donnie huffed, standing and stretching with a wince as his back popped uncomfortably. The mutant grumbled as he walked off to the south wing.
…
“What happened to Casey?” Leo asked as he appeared suddenly behind Donnie. Donatello squeaked, glaring at his twin. He growled lowly, returning to the task at hand, his nephew. Said nephew was currently on anesthesia.
“Pretty bad, huh?” Leo asked, as if the medic couldn’t see what was in front of him. Donnie didn’t answer, knowing just as well as Leo that one wasn’t needed.
“What happened?” He asked, voice low.
“The only thing he said was that a Krang Hound bit him, I think there’s something else, though.” Donnie’s voice was just as low, just now unraveling the bandages around Casey’s neck.
The twins swallowed thickly; eyes fixated on the semi-mutilated, purplish flesh that once was the side of the boy’s perfectly untouched neck.
Leo immediately got to work, cleaning and disinfecting the wound, occasionally pausing for just a second when Casey twitched before returning to his job.
“You’ve been in here for hours, what are you-” Raph’s voice asked, cutting off when his shadow blocked the dim light from outside the door.
“ Oh... ” he whispered.
“What about that blast the Krang hit him with?” The tank-like beast asked.
“ The what .” Donnie and Leo said in unison.
