—embarrassment—
Mary Anne warned her.
The warning went unheeded.
After all, a vacation with a friend was just as glamorous as all of the glamorous places she ’d been, and all those places had a very romantic feeling to them.
So why not?
Yet nothing romantic ever happened in all of those glamorous places, so why would anything romantic happen now?
Awkward—painful.
—awkward obliviousness—
—painful, even with Toby coming to the rescue, saying the sunglasses were his.
Painful, perhaps, since the girlfriend noted Stacey wasn ’t the first, not to mention the way the girlfriend wasn’t condescending and didn’t do anything to make her boyfriend note she wasn’t handling the situation nicely.
Particularly—
The look on the other girl ’s face said she thought the mistake cute and adorable, not to mention picked up on the fact Toby rescued her, that Stacey was simply a cute and adorable child.
It—
Yet she wasn ’t the only one feeling that way, what with Byron’s brother blabbing his own crush on Stacey and Stacey finding herself being honest, of what Mary Anne meant clicking even more.
It might not be so bad to be seen in a not-so-negative light by the older girl, even though everything still hurts.
Because—
Well, embarrassment, nothing more needs to be said.
