Chapter Text
It was the same argument every time, the same words being said over and over. Yet still, somehow, he never seemed to listen.
"It's like you don't even live here anymore! The only time I see you is when you're on the news!" You shouted at him, hands waving in exasperation as you felt yourself being pushed to your limits.
Katsuki shook his head, fixing you with that signature glare of his as he adjusted the gloves on his hands. "You knew what you were getting into when you fucking married me! Don't act like you didn't sign up for this shit!"
Scoffing, he shook his head as if he was in disbelief that the two of you were even fighting about this in the first place. Adjusting the gauntlets on his arms and securing the utility belt at his waist, he watched your eyes alight with a fire he hadn't seen before.
"Are you kidding me, Katsuki?! What I signed up for was a loving relationship, not this half-assed distant crap that you do!"
Ruby eyes narrowed in on you, a raged look crossing his face as he sneered. "The fuck is that supposed to mean?! You saying I don't do shit?!"
Crossing your arms, you easily met his glare with one of your own. And despite the rapid beating of your own heart, your voice remained strong and clear. "How can you if you're never here?! You take care of everyone else-"
"Well I'm sorry if I can't help with the dishes every other night, I'm out here saving lives!" He hissed out at you, not bothering to spare you another glance as he moved past you and made his way for the front door of your shared home.
You were quick to follow him, right on his heels as you refused to allow him to run from this. He had done it too much, ignored your words too often. You'd be damned if you were going to let him have his way again.
"I just want my husband back, all I ever see is Ground Zero! Is that so much to ask?!"
"Your husband is Ground Zero! The sooner you get that through your fucking head, the easier life would be for all of us!"
You watched as he pulled on his boots, easily going over the mental checklist of his hero gear like he always did before he set off to do whatever the public demanded of him.
"You're supposed to support me, dammit! All you fucking do is sit here in this damn house and complain!" He growls out, glancing back to you as his gloved hands reached up to secure the mask around his eyes. "You want me to be a good husband, try being a good fucking wife first."
And it was like something broke within you as his words registered in your head. You felt that last string of patience finally, finally, snap. Years of pent up aggression and unspoken words were beginning to boil. Years worth of insecurities and feelings of being unappreciated were squeezing your chest.
Your stomach had dropped and you could feel the pounding of your heart echoing in your ears. A dark cloud began to hang over you and twisted thoughts consumed you.
And as his hand reached out for the handle of the front door, you found yourself speaking before you could stop yourself.
"If you walk out that door, don't expect me to be waiting for you when you get back."
He hesitated and a small spark of hope lit up inside you. For just a moment, you thought you had the love of your life back.
"We'll finish this later, I have shit to do."
And then he was gone. Out the door with nothing more than a silent click that let you know the lock had slid into place when the door had shut behind him. He didn't even have the balls to look at you when he spoke.
You stared at the door, for god knows how long. Silently praying, pleading that he would regret what he said and turn around at any second now to apologize.
The tears streamed down your face and you did nothing to stop them, not even as broken sobs began to force themselves out your throat and echo in the otherwise empty house.
And the longer you stood there, watching and waiting for the door to swing open, you slowly began to lose hope.
Whatever faith you had in your relationship, it was gone now. Your heart broken as he so easily dismissed you and your feelings, time and time again.
Wiping away the tears with the back of your hand, a small chuckle escaped you. He always did say, becoming number one was always going to be his goal. No matter the cost.
If only it wasn't you on the line.

It had taken you a while to simply have the courage to move. But once you did, there was no stopping you.
You were on a clear mission, a path laid before your eyes and a promise to keep. You told him what would happen, it wasn't up to you if he couldn't be bothered to listen. No matter how much your heart ached to forgive him.
You had made countless excuses for him before, apologized for arguments that weren't your fault all so things could go back to the way they were.
But you were being delusional, weren't you? Allowing Katsuki to get away with this, allowing him to hurt you so much without a care in the world.
If he could do this to you, imagine what he could do to...
Your hand lingered on your stomach. Teary eyes glancing down at it, nearly breaking down at the thought of the little life that was beginning to grow inside you.
But before your weak resolve could crumble, you pushed yourself to be strong. Willed yourself to choose a life that would let your child grow up happily, no matter how much it pained you to do so.
So, with a heavy heart and a watery vision, you slowly began to pack your life away.
